To be honest, I'm not really angry or sad. Disappointed, sure, but it's not like I'm going to drop the show just for that.

Ash winning would have been great, but I watch this show just because I find it cute and kind of cool sometimes. I don't take it too seriously or expect anything out of the ordinary. That's probably one of the reasons I don't really hate BW while literally everyone does.

The moment they mentioned a trainer with a Darkrai would appear in the Sinnoh league I knew Ash was doomed, so I never expected anything different. But in XY they put random shit like the furfrou fag, TR cheering for Ash, Ash almost defeating Diantha, Ash never defeating Alan, Alan having basically no reason to be in the league (muh strength), and Ash-Greninja, just to backpedal in the end.

I mean, Flare's attack is all Alains fault, where as Ash will probably save the day.

So at the end, the champ will be a pariah that brought destruction, and everyone knows it, while Ash will have saved Kalos and will probably get that hero award you get at the end of XY.

.....BUT Ash has been hailed as a hero many times before, they effectively mean nothing because nobody's ever heard of them in other regions, and they don't actually help him with his actually goal of winning leagues.

Now that I've accepted that, Flare Arc looks alright.

Honestly Alan had more interesting shit going on in the Mega Evolution specials than Ash, who only got interesting after synchro, and has a big enough role in the story that at least his winning doesnt leave that bad of a taste as the other people that beat him in the league.

While I am disappointed at being cucked AGAIN, I will still say this community is still way too negative. I said it for Tobias, and I'll say it here, this is not the horrid massacre everyone makes it out to be. Do you not realize what just happened? Ash lost to a single-stroke battle. True, that is not unusual in itself, he's lost two other leagues this way, but he was literally a coin toss away from actually winning. The writers may never feel like giving him that coin toss, but that's the most impressive thing we've seen ever, to be only a coin toss away from the League. I may agree with most that the coin toss is rigged from the start, but I won't let that get me down. We may or may not have just seen the farthest they will ever be willing to go on the matter. I can't help but feel an ominous ringing in this event, though. You can hear it years ahead that they intend for the victory to be in Alola rather than here. Will it mean as much? No, but I can feel they think they are justified in this matter. We were cheated this time so they can "redeem" themselves later on. Or perhaps the redemption is supposed to be in TF, I can't be sure.

I understand that it would've meant more here. I understand that it would've made better sense here. I even understand that their plan is doomed to failure because Alola is going to be the same as Orange, and after that, it's back to idiot land AGAIN and AGAIN, purely BECAUSE of the lack of a real challenge. I think I'm legitimately done watching the show. They've effectively burned any goodwill when it comes to any future events. This is the closest Ash could possibly get to winning something. D/P made it obvious he stood no chance, but in XY he was relatively evenly matched, had a unique power-up, and had made it to the absolute final match. Once he loses Serena to either Shauna or Alain, his failure will be complete and Amourshippers will be BTFO forever.

Having him lose is essentially the lazy option. It allows them to revert back to a blank slate and start over, as opposed to having to actually deal with any complications that would arise from him winning. Even though you could quite easily have him win, lose to an Elite 4, and then send him off to the next region where he'll hope to continue progressing without having to alter the formula of the show much at all.

But in some ways I'm kinda glad he didn't win, because the moment just didn't seem right. I think it was the lack of fanfare about his progress, the fact that none of his family or old friends were there or shown to be watching, and that he didn't use any of his old Pokemon and only two of his battles were proper battles - all things that made the final feel a lot less epic and big an occasion as it should be.

To be honest this is a worse league than DP. You got all the hype for nothing. In DP, they added an obvious Ex Machina so it wasn't that much of a suprise. But here it is worse to see him lose again after going through everything. Makes XY series kind of pointless. Maybe TF arc will be better.

Do they feel that giving Ash the final battle with Lysandre somehow justifies all this? There is only one way it can, and that is if Alain fails somehow. Victory over TF as opposed to the League? Yeah, I know, still no excuse, it's all been done before, and taking victory over TF from Alain will also be hollow since there's no reason for it to play out this way. I unironically like Charizard and Mega X is one of my favoritee, but come the fuck on. Ash deserved that victory. Too much god damn hype behind this matchup for him to lose, even if it was that close. And to think I was actually starting to believe the anime would turn around for the better. I made a mistake.

I see what they're going for. It's that Alain won the league, but Ash is the true hero, saving the region itself and stopping Lysandre from killing untold people and being hailed as a hero.....where as all Alain got is a trophy and title relatively empty when he brought Flare's destuction into fruition himself.

It's like Cars, where the green care caused the old racer to crash, and Lightning came in last so that the old car could come in second and not have his final race be a wreck he didn't even place in.

As a result the green guy won the cup, but his career was over because he made a public asshole of himself so nobody wanted to sponsor or back him, while Lightning gained fame and sponsors anyway (that he turned down) for being such a good sport on tv.

Does anyone else feel disillusioned right now? I had a lot of projects in real life that I wanted to do to help my life get back on track (set up Google Adword campaigns to promote my business, start losing weight to finally get a girlfriend at 29, try to find more labor for my business, etc) but Ash lost. When everything pointed out to a win Ash lost. And now Serena will lose the Ashbowl too. I'm sure I'll be able to shake off this feeling, just not sure when.
