I think she is meh. She's not terrible, but she's not great. Her whole character is built on Amourshipping, and it's a problem that all she does is crush on Ash. Her development is lackluster, and showcases a.k.a sexist contests were terribly executed. Her not having a goal for the first 40 episodes followed by a rushed ending of her side of the story didn't help either. Feels like wasted potential to me, but I dunno a lot of people here are Serena fans...

Serena does take too long to get a plot, but that plot is at least as good as Dawn's was. Since I've never been able to resolve May vs. Dawn, I can't say where that places her, but she is still one step below both of them.

I know thats why every new Gen has a new girl companion to shill more but wouldn't it be better if instead of making Ash travel 1000 new Regions, the main character of the Games have their own Shows? Thanks to the finals and S&M hype, I gave XY anime a try, and boy, I'm so glad I did it. It's quite good, finally I have something to lift me from my boredom.
