It was rather lackluster for the only time we got to see Giovanni do anything. It was neat to see God Persian, but the overall BW nerf makes it all for naught. You just know if this was DP, then Ash would put up a fight. It just all seems so empty.

By the time of XYZ17? Absolutely.

Even before then, Serena has a big crush on him, Bonnie is a small child, and Clemont idolizes him, they'd suspend their disbelief, even without crap like Ash getting stuck in an alternate reality happening. Out of all of those, I think it'd be Clemont who'd be the most skeptical, followed by Bonnie since she's a weirdly canny kid.
