You'll battle Lillie eventually, no fucking doubt about it, most likely lategame as part of some story thing. They say she's not a trainer and she doesn't like battling, and I don't expect the marketing to lie about character traits, but it's also lip service to keep that lategame battle a secret.

Her description just means she won't take a starter (had she, we would have seen it by now as there's no reason to hide it) and won't be battled nearly as often as happy black male shauna. Her team is unknown because it is near or entirely comprised of Pokemon that haven't been officially revealed yet.

How they'll translate that into the anime is your guess.

Almost everything that happened in XY people would have laughed in your face if you said it just 5 years ago:

- Ash being competent and making it to the finals of a league and possibly winning

- Ash evolving all of his pokemon for the first time, which even DP didn't do. (Buizel)

- Ash having no grass pokemon at all, a tradition broken for the first time

- Ash having two fully evolved dragons

- Serena's huge crush on him that's actually promoted throughout the series with dates, dances, crossdressing, blushing/admiration, etc. Serena's entire character, backstory, and all her shipping episodes literally feel like something out of fanfiction.

- Bonnie/Clemont and Shota all looking up to Ash.

- Greninja's new forme and being the first fully evolved water starter

- Alan being intergrated into the cast and the Flare arc in general

- Improved animation considerably for the Gyms and battles

etc.
