I think what makes Serena adorable is that her feelings are genuine and can be seen from space by nearly everybody, except Ash. Unlike all the previous girls, Serena's feeling are true and pure and doesn't need speculation and trying to force a relationship from happening.

Keeping her love of Ash a secret, many viewers young and old also can relate to the experience of being around their first love. We're all rooting for her, I think.

Plus she's from Poke-France and how great is it that a cute French girl loves Ash.
