Liking or hating a character ultimately depends on your taste. Some people dislike Liara for being too soft, not lewd enough, being an Asari supremacist, shifting personality, etc. But I like her traits.

She shows great character development, and her character arc is quite fascinating. Her sweet voice, Pyjaks, love for archaeology and Prothean lore, keeping Shepard's dog tags, love for Protheans, tales about the Asari, changing the whole information trading rules as a Shadow Broker just for her Shepard, etc. Plus she is the most beautiful and the cutest character in the game, even the npcs mention that!

What's the best class to go with for a full trilogy playthrough? I'm going through the series for the first time and I'm already torn at class select.

The Adept and Engineer appeal to me, but being stuck with just pistols sounds like it might suck pretty hard. At the same time, I'm not sure if I want to go with a hybrid for an extra gun but losing out on half the powers.

I've played around with the Soldier a bit too, but looking at the skill chart for them it seems like they're good at shooting things and not dying, and that's about it. Which is effective, but feels like it will get boring rather quickly.

Denying the Reapers a final Relay jump made them spend six months arriving by FTL, and that was a single Relay - the allied home worlds are all multiple Relay jumps away.

That's before taking into account that Reaper FTL is roughly double the speed of conventional FTL drive, and conventional FTL can only be sustained for a few days at a time.
