combat is a thing that should be used sparingly in sonic games, elsewise it breaks the flow
but that said i think shadow's game had a decent melding between sonic-style platforming and combat, though the fact the narrative and context in which it was presented was faulty is needless to say
but i particularly liked the ring counter=life bar mechanic, i thought that was pretty clever
though in later games in which speed was the primary factor it diluted the action a bit

I wouldn't worry about it in normal Sonic platformers. Enemies should be enemies to be overcome as a brief platforming obstacle. Any attempt to make combat longer ends up being invariably shit. Any attempt at combat should make it the focus of the game, either as a dedicated action game, or as a combat platformer like Shadow tried to be.

Nah, I've seen a lot of them and just wasn't a fan of them. Made me wonder a bit if there's even a right way to go about it.

The problem is most of them are just the generic lanky Sonic-type bodies with few actual features. Razor especially suffers from this. He'd benefit heavily from having some more shark anatomy, or at least more effort? I guess the best way to explain it is that most of the fish characters look like someone used a sonic character creator template but only half-assed covering up the bald, blank base with features.

Well, I wonder how much time that doesn't go into a single level of Mario is made up for by the amount of levels in the game.
Since there are more levels in Mario than in Sonic (at least I'm sure there are), the developers probably put more time in the collective levels than single levels.

Sonic OSTs should be rock oriented not the gay ass orchestra shit we've been getting as of late. Infinite's theme is the only exception but I want to hear a song like that from Sonic's point of view.

I want to pre-order a physical copy of this game to get those sweet collectibles that come with it.
But I'm having a hard time figuring out whether I should get it for the Switch or the PS4. I like the Switch because I'm a nintenbro at heart, but I have a bad feeling that the game is just being ported to the switch and would run naturally better on the PS4. Sell me on each anons.

it depends on how much you're willing to do
in contrast to other classic games, CD's stages are designed more vertically than horizontally, leading to some pretty short levels if you're speedrunning
though its best quality lies in the time travel mechanic, which changes the entire layout of the stage
however you're not only are you going to need to find both the time plates and places to build up and maintain speed in order to change periods, but in the past you need to find a robot generator and metal sonic hologram present in every level in order to get the best ending

tldr: in CD youre encouraged to and rewarding for exploring levels, elsewise the game's pretty dull

Continue the Megadrive comics and make that the new canon. From there, reintroduce the Freedom Fighters in a SatAM arc where Eggman actually manages to take over briefly, but keep them as a small branch of the main cast, keeping the focus on Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy for a good long while. After an appropriate amount of time, do an anime-style time-skip to bring in the modern character designs. That's understandable. I don't actually like the level design in CD myself, but it gets many points based on aesthetic and music alone.

Mania looks to fix a fair amount of my issues with CD's level design however (like the general lack of direction, lack of distinctive level elements, small horizontal size but lots of vertical obstacles to pad the fuck out of the stage), while still keeping the open-ended aspects I liked from CD and S3&K. Only time will tell I think.

One + One = Ed is an episode where because Ed was up all night having weird thoughts on how things work, and Double D was taking things part to see how they work, Eddy decided that if they knew everything, they'd be rich and famous.

So they set out to learn things by taking things apart. They end up breaking reality down to the point that all of reality was a broken mess.

Throughout the entire series, all three Eds display reality warping and toon physics pretty regularly, with Ed using it the most since he's out of touch with reality as a result of bingewatching B-movies and reading comic books all the time. I actually think Ed may have started doing the weird cartoony stuff after One + One = Ed, or at least started doing it more, but I'm not sure...
