I don't get the point of cavmemes. At this point the game is clearly encouraging people to use more than one team. Between TT, CC, Squad Assault in particular, and Bonus Units, as well as missions that encourage use of both Infantry, Armors, Cavs and Fliers in exchange of orbs, just investing in only cavmemes and nothing else feels pretty pointless.
You could argue that they are useful to win everything in Arena, but even then their usefulness is limited. I used to wonder why my random FE6 only team gets more wins than cavmemes, and as I played more Arena it became obvious. No-fucking-body wants to give wins to cavmemes. It happened a couple of times that I lost a member or two against cavmemes in Arena because I clicked on [bonus unit] and found myself against Xander, Thundercock and Cecilia, but I would've rather uninstalled the game than give those fucks a Defense.

I think there's a lot of potential in Gaiden/Echoe's gameplay systems that aren't really explored. The world map system with it's encounters, dual protagonists and map starting positions depending on whether you initiate combat or get ambushed make me want a FE game where there's actual strategy on the world map. Consider this;
>story battle; Emperor Evildragons has sent a squadron to attack your castle.
>They'll make their way across the worldmap to attack. Each spot on the world map is a different battlefield like in Gaiden. You can choose to defend on a spot or attack a spot which changes the objective, starting positions of troops etc. This is also affected by where you arrive from; arrive from the south, start at the bottom of the map. Defending is 'Survive x turns' or 'Defend throne' if on a fortress/castle, Attacking is 'Route commander/enemies'. You can also get 'Escape' and other maps for sidemissions.
>You have minimum 2 armies and can further divide your forces. After each turn (player + enemy phase), you can (choose to) move these separate armies on the worldmap. This lets you send reinforcements to a battle, set up one force as a decoy, send a force to flank the enemy etc.
We've had 3 or 4 games with worldmaps and the closest I remember to anything meaningful was funnily enough Gaiden/Echoes sending troops at you, except the map was super linear so it was just annoying because you can't go around them or do anything interesting to fight them.

i don't really find it tedious or boring. i mean it was while i used my thundercock, olivia and bridelia but then i switched to a athena/lyn, -atk fae, mae/boey and cordelia team and i had so much more fun even though most of the time i had to resort to one or two more teams to finish lunatic 7 maps. i just don't want pretty much the same TT twice in a row.
also all of my units had their HM maxed long before they had all their skills maxed kek

I should clarify: I really like FE4 and FE5, but instead of just remaking them FE11 style, I think it could be interesting to do something more experimental with them. FE4 was already an experimental FE game in its formula, and I think it could be a neat way to keep the feel of them while changing some of the mechanics.
