At the end, Knuckles is, uh, richer for the experience? Yeah? Yeah?

Got something new to right about now, y'know? Maybe, uh...maybe a main character is an artist? Suffers a little meltdown? Something like, uh, what...what you've been....you've just been through? Draw from the real life experience? Little, uh...little meltdown? Y'know? Work it into the story? Make those echidnas a little more three-dimensional? Little, uh, richer experience for the reader? Make those...20 or so extra pages really keep the reader guessing what's going to happen? Some twists and turns? A little epilogue?

OK I'm dumping this Tails and Knuckles storyline. It is against my better judgement.

Problem is this is based on earlier Tails strips I never dumped, where Tails is taken off into a kind of fantasy parallel dimension where he's a Knight or something. It was pretty gay so I never dumped it. advantage in this story is that Knuckles is suddenly added into the mix, so we can all basically read it from his perspective.

In the comic (Reboot) Sally is shown to be kind tomboyish, is a bro to guys, is a generally ok chipmunk. The person who knows all her feelings and wishes happens to be a girl AI. Now, this is purely co-incidental stuff, but then you have the Sally growing up with Nicole, running around in their pyjamas to see the night sky, Sally risking her life to save her from Phage the Evil AI and then screaming at Dr Ellidy when she thinks he thinks Nicole doesn't matter.
Now true, that could all just be really good friends, but there's some evidence there if you wanted to make a pairing.
Which is why when he says after "We were hinting at it", it shows through the story like "Oh yeah, I can see that".

Rotor the gay bara Walrus for Penders.
No lead up, no build up, nothing to hint otherwise. You have an angry writer later who gets canned and wants some petty revenge, waits until Ian kills off an unlikable. Now incoming the Rotor was gay for him, I had made plans, Ian just hates the homos.
There was nothing to imply he was gay, it was just added in out of nowhere post-homously out of petty revenge.

Although, you should read the plans he came up with later.
Sonic turns on a FF for being gay.

tl;dr
Ian and Penders both came out later saying there was a homo in the comics.
Ian at least had the decency to imply there was through subtle hints while on the comic.
Penders said it without any to try and one-up for social justice.

I think it's the best way to go about it. The way he went about saying that he put Sallicole hints in the comic was awkward and almost akin to Penders, but he did handle it with a bit more class, which makes a hell of a difference.
