A good backstory would be something that explains why he's so interested in machines/planes, why he cares about Sonic (oh, wait, it turns out Tails actually does have a little backstory and apparently you didn't even read the source material in the first place!), not something that has completely nothing to do with the character.

Sonic was always a werewolf he turns in it every night, this is due to a spell ane vil monster casted on his family (sonic defeated the mosnter but the spell isn't broken because he has to suffer through it forever) but defeating the monster also killed all of his family so sonic is very troubled by it (and also by his werefold actions at knight that he doesnt' have full controll overbut it gets better as time goes on as seen in son ic unleshed) this is also why he doesn't want to marry with amy: if he did she would become part of thesonic familyand die and sonic loves her too much to let that happen!!!! *_* Sonic unjeshed was the only time sonic could let the others see him at night becusz he had an excuses. whenever you see sonic at night and hes not a werefog, hes not sonic he's the only friend he told his secret to: somic, a clone of himself he created using eggmans machines he stole. Sonic still isn't over the people who died because of him as seen in the ending of sonic afvenure where all the people at tje square died. sonic hates this and wants to forget the horrible things hes done that's why he runs, he rns from his past memories&troubled past. Because we know what Tails was sad about, and it all changed thanks to Sonic (when he first met him) and when he realized that he needs to stop being in Sonic's shadow.
I never said it contradicts something, I said it has no place in it because a backstory like that would be huge, and as it is it has no bearing on the character we know, because he's not designed about that or anything similar to that.
If there's a way something SIMILAR to that would fit, it would be that he never knew his family and he was just sad that he's alone, which is very different because there's no loss.

Again, I must stress there has been other Sonic media that used that idea and it worked perfectly fine. The character is not designed to include loss as part of his past. It doesn't even have to be as much as Shadow, but Tails has literally nothing. It can't logically be the explanation for anything he does, if you put it there it's just a random, huge (the only way to not make it huge would be having him not remember anything, which isn't the case of that pic)

It's similar, but it's a different thing regardless. His parents are what gave him motivation for what he does, and Kamina is the only one who cares about him. If anything, Sonic is the opposite to Kamina when he firsts interacts with Tails, since he just ignores him, so clearly Sonic giving him attention wasn't the reason Tails liked Sonic.

Also, I think I should specify, I don't like your backstory and I think it doesn't fit, bu I don't care, you can have all of the headcanons you want no matter how absurd they are. I'm explaining why I don't like it and why I think it doesn't fit with the rest of his story. There's a way I think it would work, and it would be changing (or even just adding) bits to Tails' story and his interactions with Sonic, expanding the headcanon that way, which I think would be fine. But as it is, in my opinion it just doesn't work.

Also, this is more of a personal thing and not something we have discussed so far, but I hate the meme of always associating rain with sadness, but it ultimately doesn't matter in this discussion
