I asked last thread, but this is still an issue. How do I make AI Britain surrender in KR for DH? My AI allies are too retarded to do a naval landing and Turkey is not exactly the kind of nation capable of singlehandedly taking over England. I'm seriously considering modding in an event where if England, Japan, or Ireland are nuked, they instantly surrender if they don't also have nukes. (Would it be possible to instead make it just apply to any nation that doesn't have nukes? I don't know much about modding.)

Update from yesterday:
It's now 1960, the USSR surrendered, but to Japan and not Britain. The USA managed to have most of their troops escape to Vladivostok and are regrouping there.
Everyone is running out of manpower except Japan.
The US is down from 500 divisions at their peak to 350, Britain from 1000+ to just 400
Japan actually benefited from being trapped in their home islands for 5+ years, and are actually up from 250 divisions to 300

I can see an end to the war at this point, it's going to come down to who runs out of people to draft. The Allies are winning for now but they'll soon run out of people, especially since they now have to garrison the USSR to prevent revolts.

Not at all. Some units are vastly superior to others, some units are excellent counters to certain compositions. Last I checked, horse archers are incredibly powerful and a 100% horse archer army pretty much destroys anything. Other units can be extremely powerful with certain religions or cultures. Light cavalry is not as strong as horse archers, but Hungarian culture gives them a strong enough boost that they are pretty damn close. Pikemen armies are a strong counter to an mounted army and any civilization that borders a big horde should invest in them.

So no, it's not just numbers. Using the right units with the right cultural and religious bonuses will have you destroying armies twice your size.

So I was checking out the provinces to see which province contains urban pops and I accidentally came up with a very good strategy - I will urbanize all the provinces that contain gold and dump my entire budget into them. There are 5 such provinces in my area which are more than enough to skyrocket my income to European levels if developed well enough. Additionally, they will add value to my node which means even more income, and the urban pops will produce their separate production in those provinces, which means even more income

A mistake desu. Standing army's war exhaustion reduction idea is alone one of the most powerful in the game, and the manpower recovery synergizes with it very well. Leadership is the best for army effectiveness, but standing army prevents your nation from getting fucked up by WE and helps keep you developing.

I also don't know why you would even take culture. Are you specifically trying to spread culture throughout your provinces? I don't think culture has much worth beyond that, other trees like Engineering are way better for development, and starting with Administrative helps centralization, autonomy, and admin points in the long term far more. I always go Admin->Standing Army, then take my third idea as necessary.

Well my logic behind picking culture is because they give +5% tax which is good, +15% inst spread and -10% cost which is good as well, but most importantly, -10% idea cost and -5% tech cost which is extremely important if you're some African nation getting a +95% tech cost modifier. The prestige boost is just a side bonus.

The logic behind leadership is similar - you can't win wars with shit leaders and the leadership idea allows you to get better leaders without having to dump 500 military mana into playing the RNG until you get a two-star general. It's especially important if you plan on playing an isolationist country and don't get a high army tradition from constant wars

As for WE as you said, I don't need it because once I get everything in this area I will basically stop declaring wars and only do so once in a while to plunder my neighbors. In fact they wont even be fought on the land - I plan to declaring trade wars against nations like Spain to constantly take their 2k treasury and keep their fleet trimmed, which means that maxed out navy (and trade) ideas are far more important for me

For an overall tl;dr the point is to conquer Western Africa and stop there, turning all of my focus towards inwards development and playing tall. Everything that helps me play tall (like getting 2-3k ducats from a trade war with Spain) is welcome, everything else is pretty much pointless.

Time and time again i have tried to play the CK2 GOT mod and time and time again the game crashes on me. I dont know what to do anymore and im pissed because i've played vanilla Ck2 so much that I cant enjoy it anymore and this mod is arguably the only thing i have left of it.

That's reasonable, especially the institution spread speed, although I think in the long-term Administrative would've returned more admin given how much you want to conquer, and with its reductions to corruption, centralization time, and autonomy, it probably would've saved you more money in the long-term. But it's a big toss-up about whether or not it would save more points or grant more techs over time, since more money equates to more universities, which themselves provide institution spread.

True, but Standing Army provides army buffs as well as a passive tradition modifier, which means that you're unlikely to get truly dismal leaders when going with it. The war exhaustion to keep development and your economy up is alone worth it I feel, but even if it weren't manpower recovery is great for using MP to construct roads, which is critical for a nation as large as you want yours to be.

Even if you move away from wars later on, early-game wars are typically the most destructive, and that's the time when SA would be the best tree to get. Attrition from jungles alone will keep your WE high and development down in the early game, which SA would've mitigated.

5% urbanization has finally been achieved. All that is left now is to somehow shit out 1.5k ducats to build a regional capital so I can finally move my own capital to the East (one of the provinces of Kano has an entire stack of 53 pops compared to my current 3k ducats-costing capital of 23 pops). The problem is that I have a lot of well-developed provinces to the West that will get hit by 100% autonomy due to the distance from the new capital, hence the need to put a 1.5k regional capital next to them

Question: Are forts even worth it in EU4? All they do is cost fucktons of money to maintain and unless you have them literally everywhere they don't really stop the enemy from roaming around. While the AI does cheat(remans video only proves rules for the player, not for the AI) the AI will carpet your land like crazy if you don't have them. Few forts can lock their armies and give you terrain advantages. Fighting in a mountain is essentially giving your general +2 to shock and +2 to fire.

Also I'm a Tribal and one of the counties I'm holding only has a single slot castle. It won't let me pillage it or destroy it so is there any way I can get it to change that? Don't know what you mean with the castle. You want to change it to a tribal holding? I'm not sure if that's possible. If you're getting the Wrong Type malus, just toss it to a loyal vassal, but you'll need a castle or Stone Hillfort IV to turn into feudalism anyways, might as well keep it.

Some retinue groups are stronger than others, there's a big post of testing on the forums, probably show up if you google it. Don't know if the Mali cultural retinue is worth anything.
