That's the entire point. She is lower tier, but easy to play, and fairly generic. Because she is "gimpy," you are forced to rely on fundamentals instead, which includes crushes and whiff punishment, and because her inputs are so easy, you get to focus on learning the game itself, instead of trying fucking up EWGF and the like.

There's a lot more to playing Steve and the game overall than crushes and whiff punishment. Transitioning from playing Asuka to Steve is a terrible choice since Steve doesn't get Asuka's crushes or whiff punishments. Asuka doesn't get Steve's offensive pressure or diversity in moveset. You get accustomed to playing a gimmick character that has a few gimmick tools instead of learning everything there is to the game.

When I play against one of my friends who is also learning the game he likes to keep laying on the floor after I get a knockdown, so I end up just dong d+2 with Kazumi. However when he tech rolls to avoid the d+2, is there any way to catch that? I think I read something about a certain part of the tech roll animation being vulnerable to mids, so once I condition him to tech roll I can do her f,f+4 (the mishima axe kick) to catch the roll.

Did anyone feel like they might've even cut the story too? There's split moment of M. Raven in the Tekken 7 opening intro but shows up nowhere in the main storyline nor her character episode.

They obviously rushed out the single player shit just to get a decent job on the gameplay.

The bigger question to me is if they'll finish up or add on to the single player content, mainly the story at all. It seems whatever they have planned for the season pass won't include finishing story mode or adding other classic modes.

The DLC mode from files on PC already looks like Tekken Bowl. Harada said on twitter that support from the season pass will fund further free updates that come as content, probably returning characters and costumes.

So again, I really hope they'll touch up the other single player modes as updates at the year goes on. I don't regret this purchase but I sure as hell feel underwhelmed by the story mode.

no one in low ranks will respect wavedashing in your face (they actually shouldn't, as it only becomes a real mixup when you are scared to press buttons)

you have to set the expectation that them pressing buttons will get them CH or launched. you'll have to look what buttons out of wavedash will set stuff up. for example kazuya has a lot of strong fast mids out that are safe or unpunishable if spaced right like ff+3, steel pedal, d/f+2, d/f+1,4, hellsweep and ewgf of course. you mix it up as they wake up and bait the get up kicks until they are too scared to press buttons...after that that's the only time you can then wavedash in their face.

at low levels they are going to press buttons every time or only look to block one option like the hellsweep so you just need to mix it up really, no need to do like 6 wavedashes in their face. idk what stuff dj specifically has so you have to look it up.

Law is a very “in your face” poke centric character. He excels at rushdown upclose as his ranged game is quite weak. Law’s offense is based around using small poke strings to harass you and force you into making a mistake by pressing a button at the wrong time due to his plethora of CH launchers of all kinds. He has access to a stance called Dragon Sign Stance (DSS) which he can go into from certain moves to continue his pressure. He has tons of delayed strings and some of them even go into DSS to catch your opponent out and force a CH out of them. He is very good at keeping his opponent on their toes and respecting his offense, allowing him to continue. While his whole gameplan is focused on small damaging pokes and CH fishing, he does have some hard hitting lows in his slide and Dragon Tail albeit the latter being seeable. He has one of the highest wall damage outputs and average walless damage. As aforementioned, his ranged game is quite weak and he doesn’t have many tools to approach the opponent with so he likes to be constantly on the opponent. In previous tekkens, his whiff punishing was one of the least rewarding but now in Tekken 7, he gained access to a fast and ranged launcher as a whiff punisher which helped him out a lot.

• One of the strongest whiff punishers in the game

• Doesn’t have good approaching tools
• Can be hard to make a comeback
