In Victoria 2 why would I ever choose to conquer uncivs over other European powers? If I play say France, why not just expand into Spain? The land is infinitely more developed, more population, and the provinces won't be colonies. Especially early on when the infamy for taking states from uncivs and civs is basically the same.

Is it just pretty borders?

Well holy shit.

The Arabian Empire has exploded into like 6 tiny realms and 2 medium realms.
I was happy being king of Arabia but now the game is offering me Persia, Mesopotamia, Jerusalem, Syria, Egypt, and Nubia.
If I win all of these wars I gain control of 28 new counties, can form 2 new kingdoms, and can crown myself emperor.
This does however require me to fight 8 wars at once and win all of them.

It's partly true that it was sometimes too easy to just walk over anyone that wasn't European in EU3.

However, EU4 is WAY farther from reality than EU3 was.

In EU4 African and American natives will modernize very quickly from the moment they touch Europeans since insitututions spread like AIDS in Zimbabwe. So basically in Johan's vision of history, Indians will basically become reneissance men in one fucking generation.

And even before they meet Europeans they won't be so far behind in tech. I've seen natives in early 16h century already with artillery and level 2 forts before they had met any European nation. Same thing happens in Africa.

The game SHOULD reflect that it wasn't that easy to defeat the natives and create colonies, but not through the natives inventing fucking gunpowder on their own. They shouldn't even be able to field anything but shit tier infantry until they westernize, which is how it was in EU3.

I actually didn't know this. I had puppeted and sphered both Tuscany and Two Sicilies before, thinking it would stop the Italian unification, since France wouldn't allow that, but they just went ahead and unified anyway. After the unification they were automatically my puppet though.
