It's in bad form to reply to myself, but I want to share the story of Saul.
Hunters are a superstitious lot, quick to take any folklore or urban legend as pure fact. However, as some believe, one is strong enough to not be considered a superstition.
You never hunt near the sea.
Given the myriad of curses on hunters and the abomination of a hunt at the Hamlet, such places have always made hunters uneasy. Every hunt always ended poorly, whether it was all the members of the troupe turning on each other, them all vanishing, struck by lighting as they waded into the water, any number of things.
For Saul, it was whale oil.
Whale oil held tremendous properties, and one small port town made its name through importing and exporting highly potent samples of the stuff. It was commonly stored in heavily guarded warehouses near the dock, safe from prying hands.
When the scourge came by boat, the town was quarantined, and hunters sent in. Not knowing what to expect, a younger Saul ventured in with others, hunting the afflicted until only one remained. It gave chase into a building stocked with the oil, and killed in there.
Unfortunately, the remaining villagers rigged the door, preventing any way out. Saul, already on the top floor, began trying to pry at the door's counterweight with his Rifle Spear when he saw a strange light. A villager stood above him, a Molotov in both hands and a sadistic smile on his furry face.
The place went up like a Christmas Tree, hurling Saul's burnt body into the water, scattering oil across the sea. All the other hunters were turned to kindling in that warehouse.
In the years since, Saul has credited these events to his fear of fire, an odd trait for a hunter. He retains burns over well half his body, leftovers from the past years. He called himself "the Charred," swearing to never forget that he could never join his old comrades in the flames, a promise of revenge.

I don't recommend 120, unless you're absolutely sure you don't want to be able to invade /bbg/'s 98s. 117 would let you interact with them. As for STR and SKL, the first softcap for level scaling occurs at 25, so it's actually more efficient to get the high gains of levels 1-25 in a given stat than to keep pumping to the next softcap, which is at 50. This is especially true for quality type weapons like the HMLS, LHB, Beast Claws, and Stake Driver.

Nope, but we have FCs every Saturday. Frontier and Mergo's after Mico are the PvP hotspots, try in those areas. You'll most likely run into players with FRC gems so if you don't have at least Winter Lantern gems you'll probably get wrecked. You can try to get an Impromptu FC going but not many people are usually interested.
