A gem will always drop from bosses, so no effect on drop chance vs. bosses, but it does help when farming regular enemies.

There is also no effect on rating. So you aren't more likely to get an abyssal or w/e by equipping eye runes.

There is some evidence that suggests it increases the rate of offshape gem drops, or of rarer gem effects (e.g. Adept rather than Tempering) dropping. This evidence is based on relatively low sample size, however (200 watcher runs).

You don't get 6 free points for picking Waste of Skin. Your BL is 6 lower than other classes, but you also start with 6 less total stat points. Every other class starts with a total of 60 stat points, Waste of Skin starts with 54.

The way to determine which starting class is optimal for a given build is to

-First, determine what stats you want to have
-While doing this, count any stat you don't want any investment in as EITHER 0 or the lowest starting value in that stat from among all classes. Simply counting it as 0 is easier and gets you the same result.
-Then, for the starting values of the stats of each class which exceed your desired values, add up the differences between the starting and desired values. Do so separately for each class. This gives you the "wasted" stat points.
-The class with the lowest tally is the optimal starting class.

E.G. if I want 50 Vitality, 15 Endurance, 20 Strength, 12 Skill, no Bloodtinge, and 50 Arcane, it'd work like this:

Milquetoast has 11 Vitality, 10 Endurance, 12 Strength, 10 Skill, 9 Bloodtinge, and 8 Arcane.

11 < 50 = no wasted points
10 < 15 = no wasted points
12 < 20 = no wasted points
10 < 12 = no wasted points
9 - 0 = 9 wasted points
8 < 50 = no wasted points

Thus, Milquetoast has 9 wasted stat points.

Then I'd go on to do the same with every other class, and pick the class with the least wasted points. Note that if a desired stat is higher than any class has, then you don't need to even bother counting it. E.G., no class have over 50 starting Vitality, 15 starting Endurance, 20 starting Strength, or 50 starting Arcane. The only stats you ACTUALLY need to look at here are Skill and Bloodtinge, which makes things a lot faster.

Alternatively, you can use a spreadsheet that does all this shit for you like a normal person.

In a 1v1 match, an x% increase in survivability is equal in value to an x% increase in damage output, and Vitality gets better returns up to 49 than scaling stats get to 50 on virtually every build, and still get better returns from 49 to 50 on most builds than 49 to 50 on scaling stats.

If you're PvP'ing, and not planning on exclusively fighting vs. gankers, then you should sacrifice scaling stats before Vitality in almost every case.

I was quick searching chalice dungeons and I found this neat one, it's a FRC Ihyll chalice. the bosses aren't tough and there are a lot of enemies that drop good blood gems but haven't seen anything past 26%. blood rock at the end of the dungeon

The tradeoff is that you might as well be naked; your armor does basically nothing for you when you have the beasthood meter filled. I know people say armor doesn't do much in this game anyway, but the difference in damage reduction between wearing the choir garb and being naked is like 20%

Converted weapons with 50+ Arc unless you had max beasthood with 50/25 Str/Skl then it'll either top it or be comparable with the risk of taking more damage. Arc would be safer but the farming will take longer for FRC gems unless you were going for Adepts on the Phys build. Saw Spear would be better for Skill. 12 Blt I assume is for Chicago, a bit of a mistake since it's not too great in a Skl build compared to a Blt build. Since you started with Military Veteran your Str/Skl should end up being 25/50, or at least 16 Skl if you're gonna use LHB.

Serious question, can you really justify using anything else than the saw cleaver for PvE? It seems to be the best weapon for it by far, to the point where using anything else feels like I'm just gimping myself. The only reason I can really think of is if you're ultimately aiming for a build that doesn't fit quality stats investment, but then that feels like more of a PvP thing, given how PvE encounters just kind of play out the same regardless of what you use.

You won't really find any good ones till you hit FRC. Best Radials are +67.2, Triangles are +72.5 iirc. Uncursed gems from Isz would probably have half or less than that, and will normally come in Triangles only. % is easier to get, 18% Arc Droplet and a 15% Nourishing Radial in Mergo's. 9% Nourishing Triangle in the swamp behind the Clinic.
