I'm trying to run a fun little cluster of frigates but christ, lashers suck such immense dick now and virtually every situation could be 999x faster/easier just by using a Drover with two talon wings.

carriers are retarded OP right now because fighters are infinite troops that are strong against basically everything else.
Also, what is up with trading? its so difficult to find out where certain goods are produced, only missions seem to give any payout at all and usually its just best to sit at massive markets and buy the stuff you need of the black market and give that in.
Theres no incentive to ever trade normally, or even find trading routes where you buy volatiles from one place and drop them at another because tariffs are through the fucking roof.

I hope alex takes a lesson out of trading from games like port royale 2, trading was really fun in that game, along with making trading fleets and routes that made real profits.
>>
Why do people say Devastators are good PD? They're way too damn slow.

They are, however, excellent shotguns.
>>
>>175295153

Trading seems broken at the moment because there doesn't seem to be any point in selling to the legit markets when you can always sell to black markets at ZERO consequences.

The #1 change to this game that needs to be made is to remove the stupid capture the flag mini-game that keeps popping up in battle, it's so shoe-horned in it's unreal.

it looks asymmetrically balanced. the modules are not equal, but their hypothetical center of gravities are, and that's what makes it more aesthetic than a completely symmetrical design because it needs actual work to make properly.

the design just makes you THINK of the function/center of gravity/relative weight of the modules if you want to make sense of instead of the mere form of it. even the bridge is slightly off bore, like it was meticulously placed just to the left by some cutting edge AI without regard for human eyes. it's so brutally efficient it conveys the ethos of tri-tach perfectly.

Yes there is. Opening the intel will let you see what prices/(goods) were updated. Opening the general prices tab and plotting it into the map (there should be a small map on the intel, pressing the "map" tab on top of it will help) will let you see prices across the sector, which are delayed based on your last visits there.

Hopefully in the future tariffs get smaller and the game engine can predict shipping lanes, so that pirates can camp them. As of now there should be at least some skills that net you extra supplies and fuel for non-profit/loss trades.

Out of instance friendly satellites and other shit for updating prices on 2d delay when

Fighters seem too good because :
>Alex drastically buffed fighters but didn't change the amount of point defense AI ships typically have. Laser/Flak boats for example burn fighters to ash
>AI ships don't typically use hull mods that make dealing with enemy fighters easier. You won't see advanced turret gyros, resistant flux conduits, or a fighter hanger using wasp drones very often
>The AI just isn't good and aggressive enough to deal with carriers. The AI is great at exploiting openings but is complete dog shit at creating them. They will basically let you park your carriers at the rear of the frontline and will do very little to pressure them
>>
>>175295198
I wish I could haul slaves. Is there really no slavery in a shitty god-forsaken sector?
>>
>>175295199
Yeah, it basically comes to the fact that ship variants remained the same. Give pirates 2-3 dedicated PD ships per fleet, and it'll be a lot harder to swarm them, especially early on.
>>
>>175295201
Also, pirates lost their fucktons of Talons for some reason. That would help them to kill player fleets early.

The Hegemony, Sindrian Diktat, and Luddic Church would have none of that shit.
Tri-Tachyon is unscrupulous enough but it already has corporate slavery and wouldn't have much use for literal slaves considering their focus on advancing and automating everything.

Your viable options for slavery would be Pirates, Independents, the Luddic Path, and the Persean League.
>>
>>175295208
Perseans should really have some slaver polity planet just to show that they're not all good guys.

If you read the flavor text, there is one Persean planet that enacted Jim Crow esque laws toward Luddic believers and basically turned them into a slave race working on plantations and factories or being used as fodder in the military until the rebelled
When the Luddic Church sent the knights in to assist their faithful, the Persean League stepped in to defend the current government of a planet.

The Persean League doesn't really care what you do on your own planet as long as you continue to contribute to their military and coffers.

most of the games i have that have plenty of replay value are also heavily modded, and i end up turning auto update off because the mods won't work anyway. and seriously, subscribing to the game's newsletter isn't that hard. certainly not worth having your games drm locked.

i get the sunk cost feeling when you have to get ALL your games on steam because you already started buying them on there and end up logging into steam anyway. then i realized i was being silly and could just not buy steam games. devs get more money too by bypassing steam entirely fyi.

First of all, if it's made to kill fighters, front-faced harpoint won't do shit against talons who will shove a shitton of their swarmers up your tailpipe. Don't even think injector + thrusters will save you when you only have front shields. Even then, why not use the large energy PD system? It has enough damage to kill some frigs on its own.

Second, Ion pulser is not great against shielded fighters even when it's placed on a turret harpdoint, and you placed it in the front.

Cost reduction doesn't equal combat performance. You fleet size affects the size of pirate fleets you encounter so you're much more likely to have unfavorable odds when using a larger fleet, especially when it's mostly degraded and you have no combat skills. How far into your iron man campaign are you? Have you wiped yet? I'm wondering because I haven't done iron man (D) fleet yet.

Aside from lore reasons, from a military engineering point of view a ball filled and coated with equipment is the most efficient form for three dimensional space fighting, just like needle-like ships are most efficient and safe for interstellar travel as we can currently fathom it.

But since the game has FTL travel, inertialess sub-FTL travel and things like ships shooting machine guns at each other while traveling at astronomical speeds, I dunno.

The game is boring when it's easy and you highly overestimate the impact of (D) mods that have their effect halved, it's almost not even there unless it's Degraded Engines. What makes this playstyle fun is that you don't have to worry about losses as long as you win the fight, so the only thing you have to worry about is actually winning the fight at any cost. Anything you lose you can just bring right back, or use any of the dozen extra ships you've salvaged. There has only really been one moment where I thought I might lose and that was against a pirate fleet of two Moras with several destroyers and frigates while the best thing I had was my flagship Hammer. I constantly take on significantly bigger fleets than mine and come out without a single loss which makes it all the more satisfying knowing you were doing it in sub-optimal ships and no combat skills.

I really wish the mod makers would list the full breadth of their weaponry offered.

>>
>>175295357
For an iron man run, i'm going full endgame mode and plan on fighting tri kikes and hegemony. Stashing fleet ships on the level of cruisers now so it'll be coming some what soon.
>>
>>175295353
you mean no market buying? no market ship buying at least is a good way to make a de facto "hard mode". a lot of difficulty potential is lost because you often earn enough money to get better ships than anyone before having to fight them. a good gameplay principle is that you need to fight units before you are rewarded by getting to use those units.
>>
I don't understand why some ships can be restored and lose the D part of their name entirely, where as others remain D and only lose their D Mods, and still have worse stats than a fresh hull.
It even costs the same to restore them to the still D'd state as it does totally clearing it, and you can restore them over and over for no visible change.
>>
>>175295361
I do that without any trouble. I've already taken on battlecruisers while not even having a cruiser in my own fleet.
>>
>>175295363

After a very large battle, I finally understood the fleet mechanics. There is a good reason to keep hundreds of deployment point's worth of ships with me when going to big battles, because I can tell the CR ~ 0% ships to retreat and summon in new ships. Even the change piloted ship mechanic makes sense now.

And seems like that all those little groups of enemies will form into one big pile if you attack them.

Why is the AI so damn stupid? I put 3 phase lances and safety overrides on a D lancer and simulate it in an easy matchup against an Enforcer, and the thing is too much of a goddamn pussy to go into lance range. Literally all you need to do is shoot it with the lances once and their flux is maxed.

>>
>>175305260
You need at least 3-4 REALLY tanky ships, a lot of bombers, and a lot of PD fighters. The more burst damage you can dish out the better. Expect all your smaller ships to die if you don't manage them well. This is not an over-exaggeration.
>>
>>175305448
damn, mayve i cna keep it contolled at 120 deployment battles?
that be 2 moras and 2 cruisers plus some frigs or destroyers
>>
>>175305010
What kind of officer did you give it? My cautious one doesn't really die when I do bounties, oddly enough an Ion Beam is handy at disabling engines so its bombers can do its job better.

I replaced my Drover with a Heron and the +50% damage ship system is not half bad considering the Heron's speed to chase things.
>>
>>175305612
Moras can tank, but you need something heavy to break the defence, which is gonna be all over the place. You'll know what I'm talking about when you deploy, trust me. Also, try to lure all the support fleets to far reaches of the system before engaging the station. They're retarded and will follow you even when you sustained burn there and back.
>>
is there a way to speed up time faster/toggle?
i probably spend like 50% of my time playing just travelling, and its getting to the point where holding shift is hurting my little finger
>>
>>175305798
Aggressive, then later Steady. Maybe my fighter composition was bad or the rest of my fleet is poorly balanced.
>>
>put my 200 speed LP lasher against a regular attack lasher
>from the very start it has a clear advantage between better flux regen, better speed, and the opponent not getting the chance to vent
>proceeds to spend 10 minutes chipping the enemy down, sitting behind shield way outside the opponent's range while their flux recovers, shooting at the enemy form outside its own range (what)
>eventually overloads the enemy shield while they're at ~10% hull and no armor, proceeds to sit there and do LITERALLY FUCKING NOTHING until overload stops

At this point I'm convinced the AI intentionally avoids killing things. This isn't even the first ship simulation that this happened.
>>
>>175306431
Yeah I can see it dying if its aggressive, considering my aggressive Mora willingly flies up close to other ships and into the path of Reapers if it means keeping my Heron alive.
>>
>>175307085
Strangely, the AI is woefully retarded in 1v1 but most of the time pretty good in any asymmetrical engagement, for either side.

No buy no industry run is pretty fun.
>>
>>175307085
I can be really fucking weird. Like piloting a drover with 2 dagger wings and 4 reaper missiles (enough to kill onslaught 1v1), and never using them. It just dies when it tries to tank fusion cannons.
>>
>>175307996
>AI
>>
>>175307803
AIs prioritize taking not damage above all else, if they're not under threat of taking damage (IE in an asymmetrical situation where the opponent is distracted) or have superior range, they'll suddenly turn more aggressive. They don't seem to account for things like the opponent's flux level (and thus ability to do damage at all) whatsoever.

If you have two forces that are vaguely similar in range and firepower, it's literally a turtling match to see who runs out of CR first.

This is also why Carriers are probably the only AI ships that don't suck complete dick at killing things. Fighters are suicidally aggressive and Carriers don't need to be anywhere near the danger zone to use them. Lasers and other long-range weapons are also useful to a lesser degree.

Define "good AI moves". Yes dealing damage without taking damage is generally a good thing, and if there is a situation where it's possible to do so the AI will find it. However that's literally all the AI is capable of doing. Show me an AI doing an even basic level of commitment to risk and I might change my opinion.

Also I hope you're not talking about strategic choices by the commander AI when this is clearly about the combat behavior of individual ships.

You actually read into the mods? I humor some of the descriptions I see and just treat them as regional powers gone rampant, taking advantage of the Domain no longer slapping their shit and keeping them in line. Using whatever scraps left and knowing once the gates come back up their empire is as good as gone, no better than an over-sized band of pirates.

But if you're up for making the lore more in-line with the vanilla setting I support you.

>>
>>175314239
Yeah the HERP Emitter was a thing as well.
To be honest it felt like most of the Neutrino ships were too damn strong (fuck those capitals) but maybe that was just me. I didn't like the mod from the start and the meme-tastic naming sealed its fate as a one-playthrough thing.
Some good faction mods are Shadow Yards, Mayorate, Interstellar Imperium and Black Rock Drive Yards, at least how I percieved them in terms of design, presentation and balance. I include them in every playthrough I do.
Diable is fun too but I don't know how the balance is going to be tilted for the new update.

I can't blame you for feeling that way. Big fights against Neutrino were a chore, the game can't handle the Photon missile spam that's strapped to everything that isn't an energy mount and even though their shield coverage is small it has unholy efficiency.

DA might be a nightmare since you can't just shoot down Wanzers until they're out of replacements. I hear they're getting shafted to 1-2 per wing but the buffs I'm also hearing kinda keeps me from thinking it'll be balanced.

Its not hard if they're fragile or if there's a handful of flight decks its manageable but I don't care about that. I'm more interested in larger carrier fleets (12+ fighter bays) that have multiple Storms and a Maelstrom or two. I guess Flash and Spark wings will do well against these since Wanzers are as durable as frigates to me. I use Maulers and Plasma Siege Guns just to get rid of the things.

Broadside ships seem pretty stupid in space where you have full directional movement instead of just moving in a straight line. With the alternate control scheme which I always use broadsides are fucking impossible to use since the ship would then try and turn towards your mouse, while if you use the normal controls it feels like your playing the piano with having to switch between qwerasd so you don't drift away or accidentally show your ass to the enemy..

Can someone tell me more about factions?

My faction stats froze at around 65, missions no longer help. Do I need to get a commission and wreck some pirates to get a higher rank?

Also, can I get a commission to more than one faction? Is it possible to get commissions from everyone?

And where the fuck do I find an Apogee for sale? Sexiest ship in the game by far.
>>
>>175333587

Can't take more than one commission especially since they would pay you to kill their enemies including the faction you would want to take a commission from.

I think the only way to get around it is through alliances from the Nexerelin mod but it'll be awhile before that updates.
>>
>>175333684

You're forced to drop your old commission first, for some reason you can't just leave your current one by will. Kinda sucks, but oh well.

Fastest way is to just attack them which is okay if the commission you want is from a faction that's hostile to your current one. You can also just piss them off through friendly fire, transponder off and having contraband by different patrols.

>can I play a happy space merchant?

Kinda, there is definitely the ability to buy low from overstocked places and sell high in high-demand areas. Tariffs cut into this by a large margin if you aren't willing to blackmarket them, though. Unfortunately trading at the moment is pretty underpowered, it'll be far more flexible if ship production was taken into account for factions or you could set up your own orbital stations that were able to produce vessels.

>how does this game compare to the X series?

It could potentially be on-par/better in terms of trade, but most of my experience with trade in X series was with X3:TC scripts which meant I was able to set up a vast network of freighters that automatically did shipping for me across the entire map.

Being able to have your officers split off into an adjacent fleet and have them run trading missions would be pretty cool, with the risk of them being waylaid by pirates.
>>
>>175334849
>can I play a happy space merchant?

Yes. You can make a profit without tariffs on the black market.

No. Tariffs will fuck you.

Crossing the T is effective for a different reason, anon. See pic related, it's an old naval strategem.

I like this setup, some hullmods are probably unnecessary and there's room to make for Unstable Injector to go even faster. Safety Overrides is also really fun on the Aurora, because a Cruiser chasing down Frigates should terrorize fleets well enough.

But I'd suggest to run with the default builds and tweak them to your liking since they aren't half bad, but Ion Pulsers are a mess.

Factions need to be more distinct. The only one that actual feels different is Tri-Tacyon and it's not by much. We need more faction specific ship variants and exclusive weapons/mods.

>>175340390

I'd also like to see, and don't shoot me for this, faction specific crew and the return of crew veterans.. Different crew from different planets should be better at different things

A pilot from a backwater mining independent mining colony shouldn't be as good a fighter pilot as someone from a Hegemony military base but he should know quite a bit about setting up a mining outpost. A crewman from a pirate base shouldn't be the best at operating a phase cloak, but he should know a thing or two about salvaging scrap and hiding cargo. A Tri-Tachyon scientist could be an expert at surveying planets and operating a sensor array, but might have a bit of trouble aiming a vulcan cannon.

I think we should at least have to hire fighter cadre seperately.

How could we better flesh out the setting?

IMO even the original non-modded setting is pretty weak, and none of the factions are really diversified much. It all feels pretty placeholder. Probably the best area for mods to work in, since it provides content within the context of the gameplay environment and lets alex continue to focus on gameplay and mechanics during development.

First off, what settings should be used as inspiration to draw from?
Second, how many factions/subfactions and what faction archetypes? Language, demographics, ideology, technology level, etc.
Third, fleet design and design archetypes?

Throw some ideas out and let's see what sticks.

I'll just throw a faction idea out there:

Frontier Militia
Loosely scattered around the edges of core worlds, basically persean league + independents. Organized, but only kind of. Low - midtech. Composed of rejects, loners, pseudo-pirates, scum, and I suppose some good hardworking people who just want to be left alone. Extremely diverse in language and culture.

Political structure is fractured and almost worthless, nobody really agrees with anyone else, but they've still established a Militia polity to help enforce rule of law. Something similar to the US with barely coherent state governance and token virtually non-existent federal governance. Planets and starbases ruled/protected by "town sheriff" type Militia warlords/governors.

The only reason they're not labeled pirates and ground to dust by other factions is entirely due to their loosely "controlled" Militia forces and lack of any resources worth taking or populations worth controlling.

Inspiration would be american pioneers, frontiersman, libertarians and anarchists; Star Wars rebels (mos eisley, etc.); Rural and Suburban retards; and so forth
>>
>>175367691
>Hegemony
Big, brutal, low tech. Make them use only orange ships or low tech versions of advanced tech. China and American Names. Military dictatorship that is pretty stable, have large resources but is pretty oppressive and not really interested in expansion into wild lands or other ventures.
Can have some sub factions - different commands that compete with each other but overall pretty united.
>Diktat
Medium tech with modification. Reliance on carriers and battle cruisers, mostly grey ships. Some unique modification of existent variants. Russian and Japaneses Names. Controlling biggest fuel plant in know galaxy. Doing some re-expansion and recolonization attempts in wild lands but mostly trying to keep status quo.
>Perseans
German,French, Turkish names. Mid tech mostly. Mostly busy infighting.
>Tri Tachyons
High tech. Jewish, Indian names. Greedy corporation with no moral standards.

This new stuff with AIs can add a lot of new flavor, and with the advent of exploration aliens can come into play (not just as organic spacefarers like space amoebas in stellaris, but by say brain-altering parasites)

Though back to basic, what i really want is since we are 200 years in, we should see attempts at rebuilding:
-Poormans constructions like the ss+ pirate junckyard ships, and them gaining dominance since they can reliably and faster replace their fleets so they are more likely to go to wars with others.
-On the other end, the tri-tachyon like way of rebuilding: have AIs solve that shit for you, then after that you only to do the work, and places to get the resources, then they can actually produce high-end stuff, but with the possibility of a backdoor built in, in case the AI gets enough of their shit and wants to take over
-In the middle are the actual remnants of the domain factories with only basic R&D going on, for which numerous factions compete, each using a fleet their captured and held factories can make (so hegemony using the "fuck shield, ram them bitches" ships, shira diktat using the more manuverable ships like eagle and conquest)
-Then theres two different kinds of fanatics like the current ludics who will use anything with the only goal of destroying all ships and factories of the sector with no long-term plans for whats after that
-And the other branch who worship an AI and are basically enslaved to it, but also have high-end tech because of it.
With 2 factions utilizing AIs, the AIs themselfs can be at a conflict: so tri-tach ones only work with them because they dont condone (or couldnt get on in the action) of the slaver ones, or the two is actually working together with one giving the raw manpower, the other the "human touch" for the tech.

On top of it all can come the shit thats found in deep space, star-eating bug en-route to the core worlds so the factions must unite (or one conquer all) to face it, and the likes
>>
>>175374141
there really should be a way to check your inventory on various stations from the intel menu
pretty ass having to make notes yourself
>>
Ships are way too cheap.
A battlecruiser only costs a few times more than what a shitter starter ship does.
>>
>>175375437
Take some inspiration from Battletech - the succession wars obliterated the manufacturing capability of the successor states to such a degree that old relics were cherished and old high tech equipment either flat out couldn't be built or required factories that managed to survive the succession wars.

Could also ape Comstar and have a faction like that run the FTL relay networks in the setting. Whoever controls the relay networks would need to have sizeable military fleets, and a swiss-like non-interventionist neutral attitude (of course, buying and selling intelligence gleaned from FTL comms under the table).

Make it so the relays can't be manufactured. This provides a natural curb on expansion of the factional powers in the setting and provides room for frontier elements/pirates/etc. There's no point colonizing a star system 15 lightyears away when it'll take a month just to communicate a message back and forth and you've got more pressing concerns on your own doorstop. If the entire sector were homogenized into a single political entity, the outlaying areas like that might see some governmental control, but until then it's all space somalia.
>>
>>175379818
Anyways, getting back to the factories - only a few important planets can keep producing Domain-era technology, and the factions in the setting have naturally formed around these factories, rather than vice versa. It's primarily the ability to produce Domain technology that keeps factions competitive.

This then provides a natural shoe for the Luddic's, who produce their own ships -without- domain technology. Which makes them weak, less reliable, but significantly cheaper to maintain and operate and produce in larger number. This would however necessitate turning the Luddics into technologists, which doesn't jive with their anti-technology stance, but neither does the fact they operate space ships. I mean, in order to do that you need manufacturing, maintenance, logistics and infrastructure, refueling, a whole laundry list supply chain of technology. It really doesn't work to have them be anti-tech.

They look okay in that aspect (like they have volume), but are pretty bland otherwise. I'd add something like pilot cockpit to the center to make them stand out somehow. Making ship sprites is harder than I figured. Now to take 20 years to do the shadowing/detail
>>

You might have to restart, but you can only scavenge in a debris field.
>>
>>175442632
You need to do it in a debris field
>>
>>175442632
Derelicts are ships/stations/debris that fly in space. You can salvage them by approaching the actual objects (ships or stations) and clicking on them. Then the salvage dialogue will open and you'll have to choose to recover ships that are intact (with some damaged mods), salvage for resources (if you have enough skill for it, each derelict has its own skill requirement, the bigger the harder it is), or blow it up so you could salvage the debris (gives less loot, but the only option if you don't have skills).

If you pound object into debris, the debris field will appear. That's when you need to press 6 for salvaging skill. Salvaging debris can be risky and generally gives you not that much resources, but some intact ships/weapons/AI cores can be found in debris fields.

The ship looks really really cool, but fyi, the game doesn't like long thin ships because it messes with the weapons range calculation: you need to be far closer to hit the ship from the side than from the front. The ellipse collision radii helped since 0.7 but this silhouette is pushing it, in general you should try to stay close to the Conquest/Atlas proportions at most. Smaller ships have less issues because the difference is less pronounced.

>>
>>175443952
I'd argue that the gameplay should take precedence. It wouldn't be a big issue to modify a bit the design's look so that the ship is fun to fly in-game rather than causing the AI to derp hard.

(Short tangent: same reason why I think a lot of IP mods fail in games with atypical gameplay: they try too hard to stick to the source material rather than adapt it to the constrain of that particular game, making something that either don't work well or feel shallow)

But as I said, the smaller the ship, the crazier you can go with the proportions without issue. The concept looks like a small-ish ship, and that shape would be perfectly fine for a Frigate rather than what looks like a large cruiser or a capital.

>>175445005
Well, that is pretty much the point, you need to adapt the design to the game's limitations. How close to the original you want to stay is up to you: For a capital you'd want that kind of proportions one way or another, but if you indeed go for a destroyer, you certainly can get away with it while staying closer to the original.

It should be good enough for most ballistic weapons, while some beams might probably fire for nothing from the sides. But you can help that depending where you will place your center of gravity, since that is the point where weapons aim and it generates the collision ellipse. Garbage bin fleets of salvaged ships are now the easiest way to go forward. Just have a lot of crew and supplies to spare and expect losses. You'll need salvage skills that repair half the damage for free, make salvaged ships start at higher CR and the one that reduce the deployment cost by 20% per D mod.

Some mods care about it, others clearly don't.

I think the bounties are pretty good when you consider ship salvaging and that they level up. I had a <200k Tri-Tachyon deserter fleet with an Astral I salvaged.

My only big issue is with the new campaign map having pirates in all the generated systems it means I'm lucky to do 3+ bounties before heading back to refuel since they tend to spawn far apart after awhile.

flash bombers are underratedly good for cruiser targets and above. they seem to fire 5-10 mines which dwarfs the damage of torpedo bombers and cost way less op
>mfw my disappointment when neither the bombers or mines phase into place
>>
Can I capture and rape enemy officers yet

>>175448116
>tfw all those changes, and I forgot to edit flash bombers description
They can bomb onslaught even if it deploys its shield. I dunno if it's an intended behavior.
>>
So the /v/ threads are sent here now?
>>
>>175449016
as long as you don't name it /ssg/ you should probably be able to put it one up.
Speaking of if we have another /vg/ thread we should change to /stsg/ or something because /ssg/ is already taken
>>
How the fuck do you build an AI Condor that doesn't die instantly?
>>
Just started playing, really fun game, but how do I get an increase of the amount of floating money I got?
Every time I do a bounty it only pays for the cost to basically get to the bounty area and kill the target, then I go back to my home system, refuel and resupply and the bounty money is gone.

You guessed wrong, even with Pilums and PD it will try to do knife fighting with cruisers.
>>
>get a mora
>try it out in battle
>this piece of shit is the slowest ship that I own by far

>put overdrive and unstable on it
>it's still a massive slow piece of shit

Depends on what the modder is trying to create. Knights Templar are stupid in every way, but were designed to be a sort of "boss" faction because vanilla game was too easy.

BRDY and Pegasus however are two excellent mods that fit the lore. A rival company to TT, and a bunch of mining rigs from a independent world.
>>
>>175449635
/star/ breaks the rules of general names, which aren't really rules but I'd like to maintin them anyway
/s2g/ is too close to /sc2g/ and that place is a fucking fever dream
>>
just go with ssg, who cares?
>>
>>175446841
what about 12 small missile hardpoints? how would you balance around that?
>>
>>175449612
I find the bounty rewards and difficulty to be wonky this patch but with that said: Keep the fleet at an appropriate size, get the -50% maintenance supply skill and the -%20 fuel skill. Try to go for bounties that have another one reasonably close. Surveying and salvaging brings a shitload of money and so does AI cores. Honestly the bounties are fucked now with abysmal risk reward ratio and they do not properly rescale if you get fleet wiped in iron mode.
>>
>>175450264
Already taken.
>>
>>175450264
probably the people at Soccer Spirits general don't want to see Starsector, just naming it /stsg/ or something similar that isn't taken
>>
>>175449624
noise tool? dunno if MS has that or not
>>
>>175450492
/stsg/ is the best available option
not like it really matters, this general will die again like it always does
>>
>>175450413
How do I go about surveying and salvaging, outside of just doing it when in-system on a bounty? Also, AI cores?
Cheers for the reply.

Wait, you are using Paint? Okay you drop that immediately, go wash your hands and get Gimp, or even better: Krita.

https://krita.org/en/

>>
>>175451032
Go to the catalog and search for "sg" and see how many hits you get.
>>
>>175451219
/stsg/ got no hits and it's simple enough.

not if you include the //s
could do /stargen/ or /secgen/

stsg is completely unique, fast to type with one hand and a functional acronym.

/sfg/ starfarer general

Christ just go with /stsg/ there's nothing wrong with it.
>>

it's inconsistent and not something someone would try the first time. why include the "t' ffs
>>
>>175451694

>Starsector general
after it.
Ffs, I find starsector general just by ctrl+f-ing "stars".
>>
mega where
>>
>>175451694
It's not inconsistent at all and the first thing people search for is "starsector".

You can't use /ssg/ because it's already taken.
>>
Time for a new thread.
>>
>>175451803
use it who cares if it's taken
>>
>>175451803
it's inconsistent because "STarSector".
/sg/ is the best option, and it doesn't matter if it's common because people search for "star" anyway
>>
>>175451871
Then you get your thread deleted retard.

>>175451892
But you can't search for "sg" which is the issue. Why are you people so autistic about something so insignificant?
