There is only one solution. They need to cut the amount of servers to about half of what they have now. Here's where the challenge comes in though, while 90% of the map is dead, that other 10% is still populated on most worlds. These areas would need to be fixed in a way to still have as many resources as are available on the amount of servers we have now.

Part of the problem imo, is that there's no reason to go to most areas because there's always something better, exp/loot-wise, somewhere else. It's like how wildy was extremely dead for so long after they killed pvp, because there wasn't much else there to draw people there aside from the occasional clue scroll. Everything else in the wilderness that was worth going for, there was a generally much safer and much more profitable place to get the same thing in the rest of the world.

I believe the game could use gathering spots that change occasionally. Similar to how runespan operates, you'd have the current trees, rocks, fishing spots, etc, and then you'd have occasional stuff pop up that's even better for exp and resource rates. The things that pop up would function essentially the same as runespan nodes, you'd have several known spots in each area you could check for a node from time to time, and run through there from time to time to see what, if anything, is there.

So for example, you could be running from one place to another, and suddenly a hole opens up in the ground and out come some chinchompas you could hunt for a time. You could come back through several hours later and maybe there'd be a fishing hole that wasn't there before, about 5-10 spaces from where the chinchompas were. Or like >>175019451 mentioned, maybe in one of these spots there could be slayer, or even non-slayer, monsters that show up for a while. Maybe there could be a cart that's in need of repair for crafting/construction exp, fruit trees or wild herbs that could be picked for farming exp. There's all sorts of stuff they could set up for random spawns on the overworld to bump up activity in the less visited parts of the overworld. Maybe even have some quest areas and other hard to access spots have a higher chance of better nodes showing up, as extra incentive to search for them.

I'm in a lucky scenario here where I don't have to gather a ton of shit for DXP but just instead plan on which skill to max. However I'm not sure which skill(s) I should train.

Cooking and fire making are not going to be trained on dxp.
Fishing is possible with with crystalise salmon/trout and urchins.
WC is only going to be done through crystalise teaks. around 450k+ xp/h on dxp.
Hunter will be highly contested with other plebs (last dxp was packed) but this is one skill I'm still going to try and do cause I have 1k protean traps. Also should I gather them big chin tokens now?
RC is pretty much blood abyss+wicked hood+runespan/sphere daily.

I'm stuck on which ones to prioritise?

Agility was exclusively trained through hourly terrorbird racing and harmony pillars but I did grind through thieving
I've more or less ignored runecrafting the entire time since I never liked training it, but my plan is to eventually get it to 90 or 91 and finish up the remaining task sets and quests for like 2m xp worth of XP lamps. With that being said I'm not too concerned about the skill since I always have runespan to fall back on if abyss runecrafting turns out to be too boring
I think hunter is going to be the worst skill to max even though grenwalls supposedly are extremely fast xp. So far I've exclusively trained it through daily divine box traps

The agility story is similar to mine but I ended up paying 40mil on silverahwks last dxp and put all bxp into it whilst doing harmony+jack every day.

About the divine traps I'd say go do yews instead of hunter. Hunter XP rates are crazy with crystalise. If you want consistent yews go to world 123 burth at 16:05 game time or reset w48 burth. Also add the druid buff from the memorial to guthix thing. One last thing, gobiebands for either wc or hunter, whichever you dislike more.
