I'm not sure why people keep saying this. Both of the animal crossing spin offs did pretty bad. I think them revisiting new leaf for the amiibo update was a good sign that they understand what went wrong. Even if you don't like the idea of amiibo, it isn't absolutely nessesary to access features in the update.

I gotta say, pic related revolutionized my gameplay with the Power Tag. Picked it up at a Gamestop for 20 dollars, and found an archive of amiibo files on the internet.

How does it work? I'd need to order it online from GameStop $30 + shipping&handling so it's a little steep. Does it work well? Have you experienced any problems with it yet? I have an o3ds so I figured if I'm gonna need to shell out over $30 for a reader, I might as well get something that saves me money in the long run

Here's the situation: It comes with an NFC reader for your PC and (if you get the Power Tag version) a "Power Tag."
After installation of the Powersaves for Amiibo program, workflow is as follows:

Boot the program.
Plug in your NFC reader (uses mini-USB cable, included).
Sit the Power Tag (or amiibo) on the reader.
Choose Power Tag, then choose your amiibo file.
The NFC reader loads the file onto the Tag, and that's the end.

As for its functionality, it works like a charm. I carry it in a backpack full of other junk, and it has yet to break in six months. Just surprisingly high quality stuff.

But don't lose the Power Tag. It's the size of an amiibo base, but just the flat circle. If you lose it, I dunno if there's another way to get a new one aside of buying a new setup.

Press X+Right on the D-Pad to summon it as the first item in your inventory.

It should really be put into the OP that you can get the cards still from store.nintendo.com, just only in sets of five.

Though the distribution in the packs is good as i can say from personal experience that I was only missing six cards after buying ten packs. That's great.

For my golden series, I still need a clock, a wall, and a table (preferably multiple tables)

First, you need to get one of all 6 kinds of eggs.

>Sky Egg - pop balloons
>Tree Egg - shake trees
>Sea Egg - fish in ocean

Once you do that and get your basket, you just start eating every egg you find. It'll either have a shitty piece of candy or a ticket you can trade him for his furniture set or picture

You get swimsuits from the island gift shop for medals. There are the normal swimsuits like the green and yellow one, and rare ones like the red striped one like I'm going to loan you. You only need one of each type to get the egg basket. After that it's easiest to get the stone, earth, and air eggs

That post is trying way too hard to tap into the resetti dialogue though. If Animal Crossing is a game that doesn't end and can't be won then it's up to us to determine what an appropriate goal is. Whether it's filling out the encyclopedia, making your town as beautiful as you possibly can, or indeed collecting rare items, it's up to the player to decide what has the most meaning and when.

Surely the logical conclusion of letting go is to let go completely and just quit the game. But it's not that black and white.

You wouldn't do this in real life so why are you doing this in the game? You have a locker that stores 180 things, a secret closet that stores another 360 things, and four whole museum exhibits that stores however many things you can tetris into them, then on top of that you can make three extra characters that can each hold another 540 items each in their respective storage units. There's more than enough storage space in this game without you needing to resort to throwing crap all over your town. The problem is you, not the game.

Not them, but after playing Happy Home Designer and just being able to spawn in whatever you need to design houses, it's a little hard to go back. There's a lot of things I wouldn't do in real life but would be more than happy to do in game. That includes shaking trees for money, pissing off scorpions, and TALKING TO GODDAMNED ANTHROPOMORPHIC ANIMALS.

It is a video game. It is a medium which provides a string of petty victories which make me happy in the short term and fade to vaguely fond memories in the long term. I get a temporary jolt of happiness when a made up organization gives me a high score based on its arbitrary rubric. I get a spike of shock when that medium sized fish I pulled up on a lark happened to be an arowana. When the dog girl on the other side of the river gives me her picture, I feel accomplished and masturbate furiously.

My point being that the liberties taken in Animal Crossing as a life simulator are precisely what gives me the right to set my own goal, no matter how ludicrous and ultimately fruitless. Would I collect all the baroque art I possibly could and cram it into every corner of my house in real life? No. I also wouldn't talk to the neighbor's cat to get her to return my dog's glasses case and get a one size fits all shirt for my trouble.
