I may be in the minority here, but the whole "A fine Dark Souls™ to you" thing? It didn't offend me at all. It struck me as basically a big exaggerated pantomime wink and nod at the audience, an acknowledgement and thanks for playing.

Patches is Miyazaki's stand-in in the series, a reminder to the players not to take the game too seriously, it's all meant to be fun and entertaining. Him appearing like that in the last DLC of the last game in the series, one last hurrah, one last kick over a ledge, straight-out telling you he did it all for the hell of it and a blatant namedrop of the series, leaving us with a gift at the end of it all? It was like Puck appearing at the end of A Midsummer Night's Dream and addressing the audience, apologising for any offense the actors may have caused and hoping we've had a bit of fun.

If anything, I would've wished a version of that scene HAD been the final scene of the DLC, it seemed such a great wrap-up of the character and the series as a whole.

Their moveset has always been kinda shit. Slow, telegraphed, and short range, no ar, not exceptional AR. Their running attack was really all they had going for them, other than Okinawan and Unteralterbach's WA. They nerfed the running attack in some way, but buffed everything else, but really their moveset is still just kinda bad. Its why Frayed Blade gets so much use, its WA is actually decent because it has range and stunlocking, and it gets around shields.

Everything is viable now to varying degrees of effectiveness depending on your playstyle. STR has a bunch of single stat options for it with the potential to invest in VIT for poise, DEX has a similar amount of options and reaches higher investment scaling from 60-80 in it now while 40/40 Refined still has optimal damage on many things while having access to a wider general arsenal. The weakest 'build' I'd argue even exists right now is pure INT and even that has very good options still.

if you have orange estus it isn't super important since your own estus will put you to the top of your hp bar anyway, which prevents you from regenerating

in unembered duels it's fucking retartedly overpowered, over the course of a minute long fight with a blesstus and SPR you'll heal 240 health, which is at least like an extra 18% hp. And you get 300 a minute with that and anri's, but I'd go for the sunlinght sword if you want a faith SS now). The 15 faith replenishment miracle give you 300 in addition to whatever else you had, and if you've got 10 faith you can just equip the priestess ring to cast it then switch back to sun princess; that's around 540 hp in a minute for just hitting 10 att and 10 faith. That's going to be around 40% more HP, give or take depending on how much you get out of replenishment.

The effective damage of both will be equivalent on their own with the SSS having a slight edge but the SSS being buffable with resins/bundles/weapon buffs will give it the practical edge in damage. LKS has Stance though so it'll be a good alternative option.

From the looks of it you're prooobably better off with the lothric knight sword because it seems like you have a shitload of faith and barely any physical investment, ideally with sunlight you want to have 40 faith and just over half of each physical stat. It's weaponart isn't that big a deal due to the cast time and 45 second duration, but you can throw resin on it or spam bundles which can potentially give 125 more lightning damage, not to mention DMB if you're at high faith. It depends on your stats and build.

Why is two handing so awful? The only reason to use it is for moveset changes, and then it denies you the use of an offhand.

been looking at map comparisons between ds1 and ds3 and i just realized that when the hellkite drake flies away, he flies around some mountains and right in the direction of where we find out archdragon peak is in ds3 (although it can't be seen in ds1 possibly because it's not actually there at that time, but also possibly because the current mountain ranges obscure it from view)

Yes, pure Faith was already 'decent' because Faith had the best miracles in the game it just had lacking offensive options because poise trade Sunlight Spears/Lightning Stakes with limited melee options beyond Lightning infused weapons. Now Faith has arguably the best offensive spell in the game in the form of LIghtning Arrow which is fast, does decent damage, and can be cast with a poise talisman leading to desperately rolling around it or running away as the only viable options to deal with it if you don't have a Lightning Lothric Shield. The DLC and recent patches have also brought up some great offensive melee options for Faith including the Saint Bident and Sunlight Straight Sword with some decent STR/DEX, and what is now the greatest Faith weapon in the entire franchise in the form of the Crucifix of the Mad King. The Crucifix is amazing on multiple levels but the main draw is that it has its physical and dark damage scale primarily off Faith and can be buffed with Dark Blade which also scales off Faith. This leads to a devastatingly high AR weapon as Dark damage is the best elemental type in PvP along with the other great things of Crucifix. With these options and the strong heals Faith now has including Projected Heal and Bountiful Sunlight a good Faith build is very strong.
