I want to play a caster in DaS1, but I've never made a single caster... Ever. I want my build to be based around having fun but not buffing.

The problem: Sorcery is really strong but looks boring as all fucking hell, Miracles have almost no offensive spells, and getting any besides Lightning Spear (and to a lesser extent Emit Force) is very late in the game. I also don't know how effective Karmic JUSTICE! or Gravelord Sword Dance are in PvE. Pyromancy has the most varied spells which deal good damage, but it's nothing but what you get for a melee build.

Which would be the most enjoyable to go with? I know that's subjective, but I do want to hear which one and why. Would going hybrid in one spell type and pyro help?

Is it just me or is the Moonlight Greatsword hot garbage in DS3? I was just fighting someone using it. He caught me in a combo, and it barely took a third of my life. I then went and 2 shot him. I felt pretty bad.

It's sad because I was planning on making a pure INT build, but now I kind of don't want to after having fought them firsthand.

That whole business is a mess, but my view on it is that the Firelink Shrine hub is an illusion/painted world, and the Untended Graves/pretty much everything else is the past.

The Kiln, Dreg Heap, and Ashen Wasteland is the actual true state of the world, and the Ringed City is similar to the Firelink Shrine hub.

But yeah, that's just my musings; I think the only thing we can really confirm is that Untended Graves is in the past, because of the Shrine Handmaiden's dialogue.

I love both the first and the second one. It's a bit Oregon Trail-y since it's about leading a caravan, but there's no RNG/rogue-esque features to it and its very narrative-focused. I have a hard time comparing it to other games; I haven't really played anything like it before.

All that said; it's one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. It just oozes 70s - 80s high quality disney aesthetics.

Faith used to be broken, but it was overnerfed to the point where you literally can't do any damage in the early game, due to low-damage Lightning Spears and small cast amounts thereof. It gets somewhat better once you get access to the better Miracles, but those aren't available until the late game. I have a Faith character at around 160sm and its pretty fun. Good coop characters, just lacking in offensive power compared to other builds. The nerfs were real. I'd recommend using something like Lighting Mastadon Halberd. Buff it with Sunlight Blade and baby, you're in business.

But honestly I hate the durability system combined with SM so much that 3 of my 8 characters use Santiers Spear.

I'm kind of torn. I don't know if I want to make a character for invading/co-oping High Wall, Castle/Grand Archives or for arena. High Wall is pretty shit to invade in so I'll probably rule that out, but then that still leaves me with the other choice: if I make it an invasion character I'll always lament about not being able to have fun in arena, if I make it a PvP character I'll always lament not being able to use him in an appropriate area.

Why do High Wall hollows make me feel like I'm so shit at parrying?

I tried using them as practice dummies when I started playing, but it turns out later enemies are much easier to parry. Something about the timing I can never get right.

Guys. I need some help.

Can't play the game on PC via Steam. Black screen when I try to start it. Says Dark Souls is not responding. Help?

My specs are:

* Windows 10 pro 64 bit
* 16 GB RAM
* NVIDIA GTX 1080
* i7-4790k CPU
* Samsung 850 EVO SSD

I've tried unplugging my controller, removing DSFix, reinstalling DSfix, revalidaitng the game's integrity, turning off steam overlay, opting into (and out of) dsptde 2.0, all of that stuff. And still, nothing.

Anyone have any ideas at all?

Right now I've removed DSFix, validated the game's integrity, and it still won't go beyond the black screen. I have no idea what's happening. This should take it back to vanilla.
