This is my first time really putting time and thought into upgrading weapons in Dark Souls. I'm going for a 40/40 STR/Dex build. Should I just upgrade my uchigatana normally with titanite shards for right now or should I infuse it with sharp or something? I'm at 24/20 for stats.

It's second only to the pole as far as katanas go. It has less reach though, and a pole with dark resin will do more chip damage. Plus the shieldshredder weaponart isn't so great since you can just block one or two swings then roll out of the rest. If the WAR2 applied more shieldstun and the standard attacks had more chip it'd be a godly katana for dealing with midshields, which are the worst thing to encounter as a katana user.

Bleed is absolutely fucked. They nerfed it into the ground without even considering luck builds. Luck got nothing.

Hollow is now a bad infusion because it's simply been left behind while heavy and sharp got hugely buffed. There is no weapon optimal hollow and the triple stat investment just to approach parity with a single-stat equivalent is terrible.

Luck is literally only for anri's now.

that generally just goes by attack type. Greathammers have the easiest time breaking poise and are the hardest to interrupt. Greataxes and ultragreatswords are next in line. Curved greatswords make enemies flinch as easily as the previous, but have less of their own poise. This is followed by halberds then greatswords. Lots of weaponarts have insane hyperarmor though, and perseverance gives you a shitload of it.

Basically you have "poise hitpoints" and every weapon does "damage" to those hitpoints in addition to regular damage, and both of those values change constantly depending on your gear, your actions, and at what frame of animation of that action you're in.

For a faith character that will be wielding the Crucifix with a heavy focus on miracles (60 faith baby), should I go with Knight or Cleric to start with? I feel like Knight is the better choice going off mugenmonkey but that doesn't seem right.

Hear me out, hear me out.
The counter to ultras is being passive as fuck and waiting for them to attack.
But if you have a blessed ultra, you have no reason to attack first because your regen will always be greater than your opponent's. Their non-aggression will benefit you.
Even with the blessed infusion completely murdering your AR, you will still be able to win trades against anything that can't break your HA in a single hit. Yeah, you take more hits to kill your opponent, but with no reason to attack first, you reduce the risk involved with getting damage greatly and force your opponent to take more risks that can be punished by trading.

The dancer's blades are criminally underrated.
They may not deal a lot of damage if you are just memespinning, but they make it up with a pretty good moveset. the L1 and then the R2 to follow it up can usually give you a good over 600 damage.

Personally, I'm only halfway through the manga myself, and have been reading it on and off throughout the years. I'm a little lost to the main overarcing story myself, besides the initial "MC needs to find uncorrupted human genome sequences" plot. I'm planning to binge read the whole thing to get a better grip on things. That said, when reading it, the type of world and the atmosphere it invokes is very reminiscent to what I feel when playing Dark Souls, which is why I'm thinking that if the next From game is sci-fi, it'd probably look something like Blame. Blessed weapon is worse than replenishment in pvp. Replenishment gives 300 hp, BW gives 45, so to compensate for the difference you need BW to be making you deal an additional 255 damage through it's mere 7.5% bonus. 255 is 7.5% of 3400; you aren't going to do that much in a fight at all, much less in 45 seconds. On top of that tears is useless unless you have regen running. You're also probably better off with a blessed caestus. In addition to that, use the priests chime instead of the cleric's. It doesn't really matter since your miracles don't scale, but it's the one built for that level range. Alternatively, you can use the bellvine if you need cast speed, but you won't be able to use the weaponart on it with that much faith and none of your miracles are affected by cast speed anyway.

There are a lot of bugs with that riposte, I've had the demons become invincible from it before, as well as having their Hp bars disappear, only to randomly reappear later.
