Anyone knows how to unlock Helios armor in XX? On kiranico it states that you need Oceanic Pyroxene which is 50% from Hyper Lagi quest but is there any other prerequisite? It'll appear normally after you get it or you have to trigger some event with NPC?

i haven't played past 4u yet

are you telling me now you can dodge instantly with your weapon unsheathed and have a huge i frame window and attack immediately after?

Three different run using mantis LS and guess what, every single one of them run at least S+1 and a sharpness skill, be it Razor Sharp or Sword Polish.

And outside of the guy using Sword Polish, the other two couldn't maintain purple sharpness the whole fight even with sharpness+ and RS. I doubt someone who could only parrot about the newest hype without actually playing the game like you could do better.

On another note, it seems like Sword Polish restore quite the amount of sharpness because the guy stay purple the whole fight with only Sharpness+1 and no RS

A randomly generated monster gauntlet.

Every area change is met with a new monster(s), you can't progress until the current challenge has been completed.
Resources can be scavenged in the gauntlet to keep hunters stocked up, but it will become increasingly sparse the further you go on.

building the meter isn't that bad on bow, it's fast so long as you do the charged arc shot. takes around 3 - 4 of those to fill it

Jho is better than Valfalk on both Element and Sharpness, whether you run S+1/2 or not does not really matter since you hit harder AND have 10% affinity. RS+AR gives you infinite purple so you may not need S+2 (or even S+1, haven't tried)
Lao is the same but can run only RS, has 15% affinity but loses on DRG and slots.
Worn has stupidly high Dragon, it's niche but the best for that niche.

First of all you didn't specify if its the 1.25x ele crit or the 1.35x ele crit for weps like DB.

Ele atk +2 modifer is 1.1x +6
Lets look at ele crit mod for DBs, which is 1.35x

If we have for example 10 element, then with EA+2 we now have 17. With ele crit we would have 13.5. However the 13.5 is only if we crit 100% of the time; with less than 100% affinity we can estimate the true ele damage by multiplying the affinity (in decimal) to this number. If we go by what you just said, at 100% affinity ele crit should be better but its not.

Even if we move onto more realistic element numbers (lets say 30), EA+2 would make that 39 while ele crit would make that 40.5 at 100% affinity. So we can see that the gap has been overtaken but only by a small margin and only at near 100% levels of affinity.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't know where you are getting your numbers

It really depends on the monster and wep type you are using. >>173284359 makes a good point, with monsters over 20k hp you should not trade a significant amount of raw for blast if they have an even moderately high cap and you cannot reach it quickly. So really it depends on a lot of factors

Don't listen to the idiots in the thread. That is a very, very strong GS set for monsters that don't require Earplugs or Tremor res, and provided you're using the old/striker style of GS rather than the newer Adept or Brave styles. It's still very strong even for Brave.

Despite the fact that the GS usually has a one-size-fits-all approach to weapons, it also has an immense amount of variation in its skill sets (Is Weakness Exploit better than Crit Draw for this monster? Do I need Challenger+2 to negate negative affinity? Do I need Earplugs/Tremor res?)

I've been thinking about making a MH optimal route mapper for months.

Just a little thing to have up on your phone, so when the monster flies off to the other corner of the map you know how to get there without wasting time.

>when the monster leaves (think when you're standing around under the shadow), tap your zone
>get the zoomed in map of that zone, tap your x/y location (to account for having to cross the zone you're already in, though this step could get messy)

>once you know where the monster is headed, you can tap that zone, then get your hand back to your ds
>crunches the numbers and spits the fastest possible route, displayed in lines on the map and numerals, like 2 > 5 > 6
>option to display next-best routes as different colored lines if you don't want to cross another zone you know has another monster in it

I'm autistic enough to gather the data, recording runs through every zone (probably with dash juice for consistency) and capturing all the map images and stuff. It already shocks me that I can't already find zoomed-in map images anywhere, especially since many of them outright display shortcuts now.

It would finally account for some of the verticality of the routes, like knowing when it could be worth it to take the stairs in Ancestral Steppe, or climbing the glacier at the start of Frozen Seaway. Knowing when one-way shortcuts are truly worth using, or if it would be faster to farcast and run from base camp.

Would anyone actually use this if I took the time to build it?

I feel like there are lots of things that could easily go into a sort of Monster Hunter 'third screen' app if someone could just make one that was properly fucking minimal and uncluttered enough to only occasionally glance at mid-hunt

I don't think it's worth the time investment, but if someone was autistic enough to make it I definitely would use it.

Okay I did some math and Val DBs do come up ahead of Jho DBs but only on enraged monsters.

Basically, Jho's best* set is:
-S+2
-Crit Boost
-Dragon Atk +2
-Weakness Exploit
-Crit Eye +3

while Val's best* set is:
-Crit Boost
-Dragon Atk +2
-Weakness Exploit
-Crit Eye +3
-Challenger +2

Val wins in the effective raw battle (582 vs 567 accounting for sharpness modifiers and affinity) and loses in the ele battle (44 vs 49). I would say that 15 raw > 5 element in general but it will depend on the hitzones. Also, this is only for when Jho is in purple, once it drops to white, which it will eventually since no RS and these are DBs, the difference in element goes down to 2 while the raw difference gets even larger.

*By best set I mean the best I could think of and could actually create using an armor database

The smaller the power gap, the less painful sharpness dulling is when it eventually happens, so I'm okay with the nerf.
What Capcom should do is buff/nerf the rest of the sharpness modifiers so dulling sharpness won't be so harsh.

So Jho exchanges 32 raw for 19 element. This clearly favors Jho. However this is only for the time window where Jho is purple, which is even smaller than before now that we are at S+1. If we look at when Jho is white then the exchange is 60 raw for 16 element. At this point that is in my opinion too much. You may find a good opportunity to sharpen and get back to purple but if don't and you ever do drop to blue then there is no comparison.

I went striker and basically just jumped into village. I then played 4U CB for a bit and got better at it there, but besides that, just keep using it and try to use it relative to the rank your fighting in. No good getting a G-rank CB for LR play.

No need, I already know that challenger +2 > Ele crit. I originally tried to have ele crit and EA+2 on the same set but Jho still beat Valk. That is why I switched it for challenger and saw the difference. Valk's main shortcoming are its average attack and lack of affinity which is why challenger works so well for it. I already said that Valk winning is on the condition that the monster is enraged, which to be honest I don't like because of consistency issues, but if there is a monster that is weak to drag and is enraged constantly then Valk can beat Jho.

Yes if you gave both weps the same exact set then Jho will win (at least while it is purple) but that comparison doesn't mean anything. Not taking advantage of what each blade can give you is just poor build design. When comparing weapons you need to compare them at their best. Comparing Jho and Valk with a set that gives S+X when Valk doesnt need sharpness skills is just being blatantly biased.
