Has Sim Settlments been working for everyone?

Does anyone know if there's a mod that adds a hunger element to the game like in minecraft? I think it would be more immersive to have health drop quicker if you haven't eaten in awhile... I also think night mobs or a dying light type mod would be fun

no... im not trying to play survival for a few reasons.. one being 1 can't use console commands I believe, and im running so many mods my game crashes in parts of the city

in minecraft (if you didn't know) has a hunger bar like a health bar, as time passes it gets lower and if it runs out your health can't regenerate.. it also has a food saturation element meaning the better food you eat the slower your hunger bar drains

To the anon from last thread who asked why he was using exclusively slavshit, it's because I haven't found a really good american assault rifle that fits the aesthetic.

I really like playing with the RU-556 but it's too modern and tacticool for 'art' shots of the outfit and such. I'm really really looking forward to the Service Rifle mod because a wooden furniture M16A1 will go perfectly with my setup.

I don't think there's anything like that for Fo4 though. And I don't think it'd work very well anyway since food and combat in these games are very different.

Stimpaks are abundant in Fo4 and are used in almost every fight. In Minecraft you'll only craft a Health or Regen potion if you're going to fight a boss (maybe).

Unless you make Stimpaks ineffective if you're hungry/thirsty, it's not worth it.

I took a quick look and it seems like it's pretty similar to Survival mode hunger/thirst.

I think it would be interesting if being well fed allowed for some regen, and being hungry/thirsty made stimpaks less effective, moderately hungry/thirsty using stimpaks would actually hurt you and very hungry/thirsty you'd start losing hp until you died.

I'm intentionally roleplaying someone with body image issues and even I'm not that skeltal.

but to answer your question, SIM is working fine for me, but I usually use Transfer Settlements anyway, since in both mods someone else builds your settlement for you, but in the case of Transfer it's all scrappable and someone usually used decorations and there are communal areas like basketball courts and stuff that aren't in SIM.

I still take the time to decorate and change things though, since I think a huge part of this game is muh settlement customization. Transfer is like a starting point.

I rate the Garand/M1A1 Carbine/M14/M870 in that niche.

Anyway, the things that were in New Vegas can actually come over with a bit of ingenuity, and even look pretty good since Fallout 4's modding scene has a pretty robust and documented UI modding system going on.

Yeah, weapon degradation was horseshit in the old games. I think with the new junk system it would have been less of a pain, though. Repair guns with screws, wood, metal, etc, other than having to throw away entire guns to make one 20% more fixed.

I liked weapon degradation but I'll admit it eventually just becomes a minor thing to keep track of and just devote an inventory slot to repair it, not really something you have to think about or promotes cool gameplay.

It also doesn't make complete sense, since a gun doesn't break after 100 shots.

What I do wish for, though, is some sort of system that differentiates between a user who knows how to use a gun and one that doesn't. I know this is a lot, but one reload animation would be smooth and quick while the other has the person look to line up the magazine with the magazine well and has them like shift their shoulders to cycle the bolt and all those little things that represent not having muscle memory.

Every player from level 1 onward is perfectly equally as capable with all guns in fo4, except for the damage they do obviously.

It could improve the more you use a certain gun, and you could have perks associated with familiarity with certain class of firearms, etc.

But this seems complicated for a limited demographic (muh immershun) so I don't fault it missing.

I wouldn't want to see a "weapon slowly deals less damage the more you use it, eventually being useless after x uses" system, but more of a "after x uses some part of the weapon gets less effective", after a LONG time the whole thing is useless.
So you'll get an accuracy debuff or a fire rate debuff etc.
You'd then repair it with junk as Buff suggested, and every time you did so it would get a little "tougher", ie harder to break.
Or you could have a mod for each weapon that improves durability, with each level locked behind several perks, eventually culminating in a nigh-unbreakable weapon.

Another idea could be something like a weapon maintenance kit. Something you could make at a workbench. Your gun could slowly get less accurate or fire slower, or even jam until you give it a good cleaning/oiling/e.t.c.

If you finish the main quest on friendly terms with the Railroad, Carrington thaws out a lot and is considerably nicer to you, speaking warmly and giving you genuine heartfelt thanks.

I don't think Carrington is a jerk it's just that he's under constant stress and it's making him abrasive, once the Institute isn't looming over him he cools off a lot. Rhys just seems like a jerk through and through.

Hey guys, I'm revisiting FO4 and got Nuka world.

With a little googling, it seems that you are forced to destroy a bunch of settlements and piss of Preston if you want to actually experience the story of Nuka world. Is this true?

If so, is there a mod that bypasses this in one way or another? I tried to check the OP and googling around with no luck.

It sort of is, but only technically.

The 'bad guy' path in Nuka World is clearing out the different areas of the park so the raider gangs can move in.

But if you just kill them all then you can still explore the park and clear out the areas. Really it's more about exploring the overworld and doing the scavenger hunt side quests than the main story. It's not marked as a quest but if you just kill all the raiders then basically all the actual content is still there.

Though personally on my next replay I'm going to kill them all before securing the park because I don't want to see their raider decorations up everywhere.

I added the projectile nodes, I set it up right in CK. And yet it keeps firing from the damn receiver mesh!

Receiver mesh only has Ap_gun_receiver and Ap_gun_barrel keywords, removing Ap_gun_barrel makes the barrels invisible.

The data in the CPA node. You should only need projectile data in the CPA's of the Barrels/muzzles. You definitely still want the original projectile node branch in the receiver, otherwise the barrel/muzzle won't have a node to update.

He didn't sell anything so I didn't make any more. The robot merchants mod is also really buggy and they won't even have caps or items to sell 50% of the time.

I guess the deathclaws buy things from him when I'm not around because the store DOES generate caps, despite being isolated.

Unless it was patched, if you put a robot in a vendor stall the SS will just ask "Are all systems go" instead of the barter tab.

I got a mod for allowing them to sell items but it glitched out a lot, but it might have been conflicting with another mod.

Oh and if you link all of your settlements, they all share the same inventory and caps on shop stalls...its real annoying. I was trying to make a lot of settlements where I could spend a ton of caps.

My biggest gripe about KOTOR and ME was that it had finite amount of enemies and quests and once i had buff out character and skills i had like 20 enemies to kill and it was the end of the game.

Obviously it will never replace normal quests but at least i have something to shoot at max level.

Has Bethesda fixed how the radiant quests are generated? Because Skyrim has no problem giving you the exact same quest over and over. There is no system in place that increases the probability of the game generating a quest that's different from the last. For example if a character has 4 quest types and 30 locations for quests, nothing prevents the game from giving you quest type 1 in location 1 fifteen times in a row.

Okay, do you have any hard data on it ?
Because from what we have seen :
A - radiant quests are not that resource intensive - few scripts to repopulate cleared cell, few lines of dialogue ( settlement needs our help ) and that's it.
B - Bugfesta main quests are hardly any better than radiants

Game has an ending, radiants are not required to end it etc etc.

HP is broken because Bethesda dont know how to design enemies

Special besides Intelligence Endurance and Strength are fairly worthless

Ok, what about the literal shit-tier map design in FO1 and 2? Even counting the tile-and-sprite engines, their maps were ugly garbage. The only classic FO game that had decent map design was Tactics. But in general I always though Western cRPGs always had garbage map design for the most part.

Only thing as far as visual design that the classic Fallouts did well was sprite animation. Visually everything else was pure shit, even for it's time, and I'm sick of people constantly whining that Bugfesta's aesthetic designs are bad, because that's wrong.

Interplay and Obsidian are best at character and dialogue writing, and quest design. Beyond that they are nothing to write home about. As generic as some Bugfesta games are, they have solid variety but generally consistent themes in design and gameplay.

Fair enough, although Agility is pretty important for movement speed. All of this is the exact same in NV though too (actually I think Charisma might be more important directly in FO3 than in NV). Repair is important as fuck in FO3, and Science/Lockpick aspect is just as broken in NV (actually in some cases NV is WORSE for skillchecks, because it is entirely fixed, and the dialogue option tells you the specific threshold, with no option to even attempt it if you're below it)

What's wrong with the Blood Ties quest? It's an interesting quest that has multiple solutions, skill checks, and is interesting in theme and dialogue. Agatha's Song is good thematically but gameplay it's just a fetch quest.

I'm not sure what the issue is, your plasma gun is based on the Gatling laser right? I was able to get the projectile node to move around just by pasting the CPA node from another gun's barrel into the gatling barrel. If you're still stuck you probably should just brute force it and copy/paste all your trishapes into corresponding vanilla nifs.

Just tested the brute force thing you mentioned, and now it *finally* works. Just have a tiny bit of node editing to do since its still inside the barrel somewhat, since I made the projectile twice as big.

I think I probably copied the trishapes into the wrong kind of barrel before, or messed something up when I copied the trishapes into a gatling laser barrel, and copied CPA from another barrel. I guess I confused the game with what I wanted my barrel to do? Anyway, mystery solved. Thanks Niero and Dogtooth! Now I can add that plasma gatling barrel I was gonna do. It will spin and be a bigger version of the Assault barrel.

I was actually asking about compatibility between CCO's follower tweaks and JSUE earlier (without success). If your using the whole of CCO though then you'd probably be better off choosing one of the other as, with both being rather extensive overhauls, they change a lot of the same things and even the stuff that doesn't conflict aren't balanced to each other.

While I haven't used CCO beyond the Follower Tweaks I know JUSE is like vanilla fixed +. A little more true to the original game while adding more depth, balance and some challenge. The ultimate edition also makes it very compatible with most non-overhaul mods.

Beyond that I can't tell you much more, other than maybe get rid of the negative carry weight on followers from CCO, as the other already lowers it pretty significantly.

I just fired up Fallout 4 again and after a couple of mods and trying to play I can't see any text or anything on any terminals in the game.
The only mod I have related to terminals is the one that makes hacking minigames simplified by showing only one password.
However, in ultimate tweak tool I did disable all the PipBoy effects such as scanlines and shit, dunno if that's related. Anyone else have this type of problem

Best Fallout armor design ever conceptualized, and nothing Bethesda has come up with for Fallout 4 can hold a candle to it.

It's honestly just a good thing they still featured the T-51 and APA in Fallout 4 otherwise there wouldn't be a single good looking suit of armor in the whole game.

slutwear "just because" when the rest of the setting comes across as over the top, weird, or "sexy" is perfectly fine

it's when you have just the one sluttily dressed character amid other more "realistically" attired soldiers

on the surface this would be a valid complaint against Quiet in Metal Gear, for instance, but anyone that looks past the surface of the setting knows that it's populated by weirdos and her running around the battlefield in her stripper outfit isn't really THAT strange

even if it seems like I'm contradicting myself there I want to say that in that case it comes of more like it's done to make the character stand out than anything

if she were dressed like anyone else in the group she probably wouldn't attract the same attention the developer wants her to

but again, if you have a setting that's more like, say, Terminator in its bleak future or Aliens -- you want all the female troopers to wear the same equipment and gear that male troopers are wearing

having them running around in thongs and fishnets would be distracting, take people right out of the setting, and otherwise distract from the plot

so I guess what I'm saying is it depends a lot more on the setting and the tone you're trying to achieve than literally anything else

You know this is something I tend to wrestle with in my own playthroughs.

I play as a Raider that also happens to be Institute aligned, so I have to juggle different sorts of attire when I'm on the surface and when I'm wandering around the subterranean labs of the Institute. It just doesn't "feel" right walking around below ground covered in dirt, shit, and sweat as I typically am above ground.

I mean I'd wear power armor but my suit looks just as trashy as my regular get-up. It's a bit odd, but generally I feel more like the Institute's new Kellogg than its new director.

I think it would have been better for me if Father had never died and I continued to ask as the Institute's mailed fist on the surface.

Spinning down is, however, real. Unless the feed mechanism has provisions for it the gun will continue to spin and therefore fire after the trigger is released for a few moments.

It was because of a patch.

It's a bug.

They never fixed it.

But there is a mod that actually fixes it to what it originally was, now, so if you want the minigun with wind-up (and why wouldn't you, realism be damned the sound fucks up less when it does) all you need to do are drop those meshes in there and boom, fixed.

Now if someone could just fix NV's broken voice filtration system that would be top.

Everything has a wind-up. That's physics. But a minigun has 6 bolts that fire a round every time a barrel reaches the angle of the chamber. If the starting position has a barrel already on the chamber, it fires immediately. The motor of a minigun is pretty powerful though. The windup is extremely quick.
