The only materials you can't buy are Pure Water (gather in Flooded City) and the different kinds of Gadgets (Simple, Elaborate, Complex - save at the Forest Castle throne room and gather at the king's crib, reload if you don't get one).
The Gadgets are what really sucks, you can easily spend hours farming them. And no, there isn't a better way.

This game fucked me up. I finished Ending E just a little bit ago. They're gonna live and be happy forever... right?

I didn't want to give up doing the credits solo but eventually I gave in. I'm sorry to the bros whose data protected me.

The unit data sidequest gives you more than enough I think, because I remember not having to farm any thanks to that quest reward. You may need 3 Elaborate, but 4S gives you like 5 or something.

Complex ones, like I said, you can get them in a repeatable sidequest, so again, you don't have to farm the throne room for that, you just get the quest, go to the location to get the items but never actually finish the quest so you get to keep the items, and repeat until you have all you need.

The Simple ones, I don't know, but at least they have the higher drop rate of any other gadget.

I don't get it, I looked at a bunch of hacking levels and it seems easy to just dodge bullets and focus on the main thing/node/whatever the fuck its called in this game. Even with only 8 directions (if you're limiting yourself to KB exclusively for these segments) I don't see how these can be hard at all. Is 9S's hitbox xbox hueg?

Maybe I'm just used to being limited to 8 directions and folks today are spoiled by analog controls. I just can't imagine bullet hells being difficult, to me it's like solving a puzzle over and over again.

Your mileage may vary greatly. 2B JP is superior, A2 EN is variable but has some great moments. I've seen people really dislike 9S EN but I thought he was absolutely fucking fantastic. I actually prefer 042's EN VA to JP, too.

Kyle McCarley is underrated as fuck, he has one hell of a range and his 9S is very well done. It's a lot better than Hanae's generic deliverance, it sounds like he just mimic'd his Kaneki for 9S. I think he has one of the weakest performances out of the entire JP cast

But yes. Sub vs Dub in general is as old as time. The quality of Dubs can vary dramatically, but the western market usually leads to trashy dubs on mainstream stuff, and there is a long established precedent for english dubs having worse scripts.

Or sometimes in my case, if you watched something subbed first, you get attached to the script and/or performances and there is no way that you'll be satisfied with the dub. The subs for Redline had a far better script than the dub, it's a real shame.

It's not really an issue on topic. Taro dubs seem to average out positive overall.

Btw you should still play if you haven't. I didn't watch no let's play but I was accidentally spoiled on what happens to 2B when I was still on Route A, and it still felt powerful in-game because I'd been the one playing her. A lot of stuff is like that

I'd watched a nearly 2 hour long full story recap of Nier 1 before I ever played it and I still really enjoyed that too

I'm probably in the minority but I actually prefer DoD3's story slightly over the first one, I also empathized a lot more with the characters, even if their development was all over the place. The like that the structure is similar to Automata, you get the first ending and you're like "oookay nothing makes any sense". But from that point on, the real story is revealed and everything gets deranged as fuck, I love it.

It also has my favourite final boss fight in any game. Unironically.

Everyone who prefers JP 2B over Eng 2B is a faggot who likes Ayanami over Asuka and whose favourite Haruhi character is Yuki.

They are not that different, they both are hiding their real emotions behind the mask. The difference is that JP's 2B is just your typical kuudere who doesn't show any emotions at all. After a single urusai in prologue she acts like lifeless doll who doesn't care about anything up until ending A (and even when strangling 9S she was less emotional when Eng 2B). How is it even possible to like this character? I guess some people like this 2B just because she's moe.
But Eng 2B has character on her own. She distances herself from 9S not by simply ignoring him, but by outclassing him. You feel her power, her dominant side. Her stare can probably break your dick. But it also make it more depressing that despite looking so strong she is so fragile inside.

I consider the japanese version as superior, except maybe for pod 153's voice wich sound better in english. But I find that the english version is not that bad either, most voices are fine except for Commander and A2 who sounds really bad in my opinion. Also Im not a huge fan of the character change that 2B got.

Ultimately, I like jap 2B, A2, Commander and Pod 042 way too much to play the english version.

For me it was in the 3rd branch.
