Guys, quick question:
I have RedNand on my Wii U since its launch. What should I do to have Colldboot (not needing the Browser to access the RedNand) on it? Is there any way to make it redirect to my current RedNand?

Thanks!

Everyone is working on the switch now. Especially since the devs said its very similar to the 3DS system.

You need a proprietary storage medium, yes.

3.61 is no mans land.

>>171148887
This will work as long as its literally the same 3DS it was created in (as the folders with the scrambled numbers inside Nintendo 3DS are tied to the internal id).

If you do a system transfer to another system (so the internal ID carries over), then that Nintendo 3DS folder will only work on that system and no longer in the original one.

If you then restore the NAND from the first 3DS to before the system transfer was done, then both 3DSs will work with the same "Nintendo 3DS" folder because they will technically have the same internal ID.

This way you could just use the same SD card between two 3DSs (the only case when this will have a problem is if you are doing it between a 3DS and a New3DS, in which case when putting the card inside a 3DS after putting it in a New3DS will result in some software appearing as unavailable (not only N3DS exclusives, but some old ones too)), but if its two O3DS or two N3DS with the same internal ID then you can just have literally the same Nintendo 3DS folder in both.

All the psp/3ds/etcISO sites are down. 3DSiso even if shitty was the best site with many downloads not only for .cias but also injections (plus many games not available on FreeShop)

Yesterday I had a surge to get a bunch of injections of VC games because I'll be travelling soon, today the sites were nuked, so I still had those MEGA links on my browsing history (which I have set to clean weekly).

Some people say that the entire sites were nuked, even databases. Hopefully the admins had backups or something, would be insane to not have them.

Yes, you put them anywhere in the SD
Then you open SD in FBI and browse to their location
You press A and just install each. In fact you can select "Install and Delete" so that the .cia doesn't take space in your SD because after install it will be "uncompressed" into separate folders inside "Nintendo 3DS" folder.

Keep the CIA in your computer in case you want to ever reinstall in your 3DS or another.

So I have a few questions if anyone can help me.
I know I know, check the FAQ and whatnot but mh xx is about to release and I just want to make absolute sure I wont fuck my my 3ds.

So to start I have a n3ds and the update was downloaded but NOT installed (Im on 11.2) so a few things.

1. If I do put on a cfw will I be able to recover my nnid to a new non modded n3ds or is that a done deal? I mean, I know can get any game I want but still...

2. Since I have the update downloaded, would it brick my system to get a cfw? already got one on my 3dsxl and it went off without a hitch but it didn't have the update downloaded. I'm just paranoid.

Thanks in advance, /hbg/ is one of the main reasons I come to /vg/ so thank for doing what you all are doin'.

no , if your systeme is on 11.2 , and you didn't install 11.3 , its safe to get cfw on that firmware.

I have no idea if another Vita can but I doubt it. The activation occurs when the PSTV gets the dat file when the PSP demo is transferred from the PS3 you're signed into. >>171196514
are you on a9lh with luma or the latest >cakes ? if so, upgrade away.
there's no real benefit to upgrading though, and a lot of people are staying on 11.2
>>
>>171196397
I'd go XL just because it's bigger. Everything else is the same, including resolution, so it'll be blurrier. They're 240p screens anyway though.
>>
>>171195573
Okay well no problem I'll have to buy one separately. How much should i pay?
>>
>>171196865
Pretty sure the former.
Do you have any technical reason why upgrading doesnt fuck with the hack?
I, myself, am a layman and to me upgrading the system logically seems like it would overwrite the hacked files.
>>
It's not strictly about homebrew but I thought I'd ask: I recently bought a brand new 1TB drive to use with my PS3 and PSTV. For the past day I've been downloading a torrent onto it and occasionally it will stop and give me the file not found error, and when I was using it with the PS3, the game I was playing kind of skipped for a second. All the files on it are fine though. Does this sound like a faulty drive?

Ok, do I actually need a 64 gig SD card to homebrew my Wii U?

16gb, it's enough because the 3ds has no games that interest me besides pokemon
>>
>>171237639
What do you actually want to do with it?
If you're installing games then you only need 32GB since all games are smaller than that anyway.
If you want rednand and shit then you might need a 64GB but fuck that noise, brazilian is all you really need.
>>
>>171237639

You'd be fine with that. It installs to USB or the system memory and then you can remove it from your SD.

Ok, since my initial question went ignored I'll ask again better.

I have a friends console and he hacked it somewhere where they did it weird and now somehow it's running Luma without A9LH, instead it's using fucking menuhax.

Problem is, my friend tried to update the thing and now it doesn't boot.
It says "an error occurred while loading the payload
press key to continue" and it loops with that.

When booting without the SD on, the 3ds is in 9.2 and I'm not really sure what to do now, I thought menuhax is extinct.

I followed the guide in wiki completely, got freeshop, downloaded some stuff, and am on current version luma and 3ds firmware.

I'm curious. If I want to say, legitimately purchase Pokemon Sun (I'm only really interested in emulating/stealing VC versions of games I currently own, owned years back, or have purchased on my kid's 3DS) could I still use the eShop safely?

Also, I did all the modding on the default 4GB card, but I found a 16GB in an old device I don't use. Can I just copy the files across safely and not worry about losing anything? The 2DS came with Mario Kart 7 and I'd rather not lose a free game if I can help it.

Patience.

I was extremely active in helping the PS2 scene and even made my own alternative little OS that was themable. I did a lot of leaning down ISOs on request as well.

You might want to add "big thumb drive/usb hard drive" to those. Trust me, getting a big IDE hard drive will be costly but getting an absolutely huge USB drive will be frivolous and inexpensive.

>>
>>171217717
Having homebrew is no where near close having CFW. The Safe Mode (used when updated) exploit is now fixed, so for now there's nothing available to downgrade to 9.2

Nintendo had basically neglected the Safe Mode firmware for years, it was like an open secret that it was exploitable as fuck but someone had to come out and piece it together.

Is that how you treat everyone who doesn't find something self evident?

I have a BEng in computer engineering. I've taken courses on network security, networking, wireless protocols, firmwares, FPGA development and prototyping, machine learning and intelligent systems, ASIC design, silicon design and layout/place and route, analogue signals and signal processing, among others.

I'm not dumb, but the fact that you think that there's something not worth teaching, or even making the effort to teach leads me to think you're just talking out your ass

> I've taken courses on network security, networking, wireless protocols, firmwares, FPGA development and prototyping, machine learning and intelligent systems, ASIC design, silicon design and layout/place and route, analogue signals and signal processing, among others.
And yet somehow you've never heard of SSL.
>>
>>171271694
I know all about SSL. Why the fuck would they use SSL when the firmware has to be verified before it's installed anyways?

Also wouldn't the 3ds use the same RSA decrypt hardware it uses for verifying firmware? You know, the same hardware that has a bug that greatly lowers it's effective key size?
>>
>>171272160

>Why the fuck would they use SSL when the firmware has to be verified before it's installed anyways?
So you can't use custom servers?

Isn't that the entire point of this conversation
>>
>>171272271
>So you can't use custom servers?
So Nintendo just knew their 3ds' cryptosystem was going to get owned so they decided to add needless complexity to the upgrade mechanism that relies on the same broken cryptosystem to prevent you from breaking it?
>>
>>171272367

>Verifying that the servers you connect to kosher using a global and very robust standard is somehow "needless complexity"
>>
>>171272453
it is, when the only use of that server is to download a signed package that will be verified using the same 'kosher and global and very robust' cryptosystem, that is incidentally completely broken
>>
>>171272543

you keep insisting that the crypto primitives are fundamentally broken when it's just the padding-parser specifically within the bootrom and only executed as part of the initial boot

Why the hell did you think we needed the bootrom anyway?
>>
>>171272651
>you keep insisting that the crypto primitives are fundamentally broken when it's just the padding-parser specifically within the bootrom and only executed as part of the initial boot
I never insisted anything.

>Also wouldn't the 3ds use the same RSA decrypt hardware it uses for verifying firmware? You know, the same hardware that has a bug that greatly lowers it's effective key size?
You'll note that this is a question.

Also do we know that they use a secure connection? it still sounds fucking dumb to use that when there's no chance for a meaningful MITM
>>
>>171272812

You insist that the RSA hardware is borked.
The RSA hardware is fine. It's the software in the bootrom (only the bootrom) which parses the FIRM headers that is exploitable.
>>
>>171272812

>Also do we know that they use a secure connection?
Even the DS used SSL just for connecting for multiplayer servers. If you don't think the 3DS would use it for updates and other content distribution you're a fool.

There hasn't been a stable release of Cakes for over a year but support for newer NFIRMs has always been added.
If you want to continue using Cakes, go to the GBAtemp thread of it and skim through the latest 10 pages, because an updated build has been posted.

perhaps your video settings are dodgy? Suspects can also include but aren't limited to the hdmi cable, any and all passthrough devices involved in the connection to your tv and even the order in which they were turned on (this last one is annoying).
One of the problems with blu ray is the unwarranted hardon for encryption and key revocation and the fact blu ray players past 2012 all come with cinavia which makes them useless because alternatives exist. hdmi is also a culprit since it's part of the chain of trust which is a load of shit, hdcp is annoying as fuck.
You may also benefit from ensuring you are running the latest rebug since a fresh install of cfw might reset potentially bad parts of the firmware.
Also try to use programs like multiman's movian to see if it's just the ps3 being a dick.
Had the games not worked i would have suspected the drive isn't married to the board, doesn't seem to be the case here.

Is toukiden 2 a 3.60 game in Japan?

What I'm not sure is if it's possible to grab the files from 3.63 games and put them in 3.60 jap games.

Same. You'd have to get around the PFS encryption.

Hey y'all,
I feel like getting an old wii just to replace my gamecube with something with affordable component cables, and potentially pirate skyward sword.
But I don't wanna deal with plastic wiimotes all over the room. Is there a hack that skips all wiimote input promts and just jumps straight to the gamecube disc?
Also is there a wii bundle that has both gc compatibility and wii motion plus integrated into the remote? Basically, what's the best way to get the following things?
>wii with gamecube compatibility
>1 wiimote with integrated motion plus
>1 nunchuck
>1 component cable

How many tries does Soundhax usually take to run HBL?

Dolphin.
>>
>>171302981

Yes. Priiloader has an option to autoboot discs IIRC. You can also use the Gamecube controller in just about any popular USB Loader.
>>
>>171135091
if you're already 100% hacked, just make sure luma's set to block firmware partition updates and you can update
>>
>>171302976
You mean it's not possible? Because I think there was an english release that was 3.60+ but someone somehow managed to get the files and make an english patch because the japanese version was still 3.60, can't remember the game though.

I always wanted to play P4G.

I saw a single, lonely PSTV in my local store for sale for 60 euros in October last year.

I'm poor as hell, even though I have a job, so everytime I went to that store I went to check on it to see if it was sold or not but I never bought it because memory cards are expensive as fuck.

Lately I've been able to save some disposable income and I decided today was the day I was going to buy it if it was still there. Knowing that there will be USB mass storage support for it Soon™ is what made me decide.

It was there.

Price: 30 euros... 50% off

What a pleasant surprise.

I bought it but I just realized I never researched how this shit even works.

I'm going to google it now and hope I can use my original PS3 controller for it.

I also hope a memory card won't be needed to hack this (I'm most likely wrong about this).

Wish me luck, bros.
>>
>>171306916
No problem
>>
>>171307561

PS3 controller is good, and no memory card is needed.
Now you play thewaiting game
>>
>>171285357
So does the whole USB memory thing make the PSTV actually better for piracy than the actual Vita? I want a real Vita because I like having a real handheld but if memory is so expensive does that make it end up not even worth the investment?
>>
>>171308034

Depends on how much you like Vita games.
>>
>>171308034
cheaper, yes, but it's a tradeoff because some games that require gyroscope for example don't work on pstv
>>
>>171274597
>If you don't think the 3DS would use it for updates and other content distribution you're a fool.
That sounds like the answer of a man who thinks, but does not know
>>
>>171309020

I don't have proof, but 3dbrew says that the SSL keys are set by the bootrom so it's extremely likely.
>>
>>171308034
Not particularly.

Barring piracy, given most of Vita's games are multiplat for PS4/PC, why not play those on a screen?
Memory cards aren't expensive if you're not buying them like candy. I've had my 16GB for about 5 years now and have no need to get anything else (loading it with several games or a few 3GB+ ones).
USB loading, while good, is just an excuse for hoarders as you'll quickly realize.

https://pegaswitch.com/

Note it says "toolkit". This is useless even for homebrew developers since it's just glorified ROP, not actual usermode code execution.

https://reswitched.tech/ has more content, http://switchbrew.org/ (HTTPS is broken) also exists and is the more spiritual successor to wiibrew, wiiubrew, dsibrew and 3dbrew, though hosted by someone else.

I've tried SocketPunch and Boop and things like that to remote install with FBI, but none of them work. They all stall at 0%.

>>
>>171316426

I swear I'm not bulshitting anyone.

There are several ports.

1 for the power cable
1 for the ethernet cable
1 for the HDMI cable
1 for a USB device (I'm using a Dualshock 3 controller)
And then a slot which I think is used for official memory cards, but also for microSD cards.

I can put the microSD card inside that slot, but it doesn't stay in its place. It stays loose.

Are official vita memory cards a different size from regular microSD cards?

Is there a different slot that is made specifically for regular microSD cards that's hidden somewhere in this device?

I just opened the slot where you're supposed to insert game cards. I decided to put my microSD card inside a microSD adapter that's the size of an SD card and then tried inserting it in the game slot and it doesn't fit.

Can someone help?

Ah, okay, thanks for clarifying.

And I just realized why you thought I was trolling. It's because I didn't think about using the USB port to connect a USB flash drive instead of using a stupid microSD card.

By the way, I am, indeed, a retard. A retard with 60% permanent global incapacity. Good guess.
>>
>>171318667

The PSTV doesn't natively support USB flash drives either. It's just supposed to be coming soon with homebrew.
>>
>>171318667
To be fair, USB mounting support isn't available quite yet, but is supposed to be coming this weekend. The vita memory cards, while similar to microsd cards, are a different shape, so they're sadly not interchangeable.

Is there a way for me to manually download the Xenoblade X data packs?

You can "pirate" them the same way you can the base game.
The eShop version doesn't need the data packs anyway though.
>>
>>171318667
you better have that PSTV on 3.60 firmware or less or you're a double retard

So, just a quick question. I downloaded Animal Crossing New Leaf and ripped Pokemon Sun off a physical cartridge. Is Pokemon just a big game or does ripping off a cartridge come with extra data because AC uses 6000 blocks while Pokemon needs 24500.

MHXX ticket where?
>>
>>171320919

I don't know if this whitelist shit worked, though, since I have no games to test it.

I'm just gonna patiently wait for USB mass storage support.
