You don't really want to play an overly small country your first time in this game anyway. The recommended starts are usually Prussia->Germany, S-P->Italy, Brazil, or maybe even the US.

In Eu4 the ahead of time penalties are so hefty and reliand on mana that you won't be ahead in tech by much, at least not in the old world.

This hasn't really changed since institutions from what I've seen. Only that some spots in europes lag behind more now like they were east asians sometimes.

Depends who you play with. I usually play with my buddy over teamspeak.

We pause when we need to. usually most of the gameplay can be done without pausing. Its strange at first but you will get used to it. We only ever pause when something significant happens like a war with someone dangerous to weigh our options. We also pause when dosen or so events pop up.

What do you think a fair interest rate in EU4 is if the government wanted to invest money to get returns? You can take loans, but not give them, and I dont see a reason why you cant. I was thinking 2-3% since the bankers offer 8% in Meiou and they need to make a profit + a finders fee. Just another mechanic to add in.

The AI refuses to take loans, it as broken so Paradox removed the system. Something about free CB for lots of cash/land or something since they wont repay it. I dont know how to reinstate it so i was just going to do a PnP calculation and use the console to enforce it.

Absolutely disgusting

No DLC really needed. With each DLC they have updated the base game with free new things so vanilla is 3x of what it was at the release. Best approach would be to get the basics down on vanilla.

Then play until you get bored of CK 2. Once you get bored, get a DLC - any one of them, it doesn't really matter which - if you like pagan vikings, go with Old Gods - if you are into Altaic-Tuvan throat singing and shit, go with horse lords - if you are into Romeo&Juliet tier merchant family scandal play, get Merchant Republic.

Once you have chosen the DLC, play with the new additions for a few campaigns until you get bored. Then choose another DLC.

Rinse and repeat.

Convert Normand to English.
Convert Burgundian to Francien.
Occitan to Gasgonge.

I generally find it to be a waste of Diplo points, Not that I don't enjoy gassing people but when it causes you to be three diplo techs behind even with religious ideas and the policy it's a load of bollocks. I suppose realistically I'll just have to accept it and swap to French, A French primary England tag is essentially what Anglo-France should be anyway.
