How do I get out of copper?
I've been spending a good while in silver when I first started playing ranked, then a bad string of losses sent me straight to copper.
Now all I can find are extremely inexperienced players and I rarely win anything anymore, I just keep floating between the various copper levels without ever leaving the class anymore.

It sucks, matches aren't fun when people have no idea what to do, I'm not a pro myself, but at least silver was fun and you could play the game properly even if you were not a master of the game

I held the grenade and hid out of line of sight, but obviously they knew exactly where I was and only had to graze me with a bullet to down me. You can only do so much when you have approximately 0 hp and the enemy has pseudo wallhacks on you.

We didn't win the round, because of the aformentioned caveira interrogation on us causing us to all get murdered, but we did indeed win the game. Note, that I did get 2 kills pushing towards the objective area, so rounding that out with a 1:1 trade didn't seem like a bad idea, especially since "just prefiring them" (something you usually do on people you know are in a certain spot, and not on people rounding corners who will be prefiring you automatically as well) relies on luck far more than skill, and is much more likely to result in me losing and the aggressor walking free.

I have a good friend that is on his way to copper.
He has never played a tactical fps like this before. His reaction time is fairly slow. He doesn't understand callouts (even rudimentary ones like "south east corner"). He doesn't quite understand how to effectively peek or push. He doesn't learn maps quickly. He doesn't trade kills, he can't clutch, he's all around missing most fps fundamentals you know and exercise automatically.
His only previous game experience really is just Smite, a little TF2, and, since its release, overwatch.
So to recap, your average copper player: Doesn't play a whole lot of games/fps, is missing/still developing all of the fundamentals of the genre, can't manage stressful moments yet, and (although this doesn't apply to my friend) they are unwilling to learn from their mistakes, rather shift the blame to their team/the game/the enemy being "sweaty tryhards"

There's a difference between paying for the game and paying for dlc. Paying the $50 price tag so you can reasonably have access to the stock selection of characters after playing for a short while vs paying $15 and having a tiny selection of operators and having to grind for days upon days just to get even half of the stock characters makes complete sense, and you're either poor and desperate or literally retarded if you choose to spring for the starter edition.

The DLC model, however, makes somewhat sense to just grind for. Though it's something like 300 hours of playtime required to have all of the DLC operators, not counting boosters or hardcore terrorhunt grinding.
