It's not that simple. Halo CE never had a campaign feature as it was primarily made for multiplayer so...

Renamon worked on porting the campaign to Custom Edition. The problem? The port was riddled with issues due to corruption caused by the process of extracting the assets from the retail PC edition, such as graphical corruption and AI not being able to throw grenades, and he/she never attempted to fix these issues. No one else has, either… at least for the stock campaign. Everyone loves to make modded campaigns (no disrespect, some of these modded campaigns are really good), but, no one has ever attempted to fix the stock campaign… until now.

There are also graphical errors left from porting Halo from the Xbox to PC in the picture attached. Also, the Anniversary/MCC version of Halo is built from the PC version and they only fixed *some* of these errors but not all.

The classic campaign for Halo 1 and Halo 2 are the PC ports, yeah. I doubt they would go out of their way to fix the graphical errors but thankfully fans are trying to.

The campaign is a port of the Anniversary Edition that released on 360, except upped to 60fps.
CEA is a port of the PC version.
Why they used that version as a starting point for CEA is beyond me. Maybe the PC architecture was easier to work with since gearbox had already done most of the transferring work.

Halo 2 is also the PC Vista port. It comes with all the crazy vehicle physics of that port.
The multiplayer for both games is also from the PC ports.
The multiplayer for H2A however is a molded Halo 4.

When building a singleplayer map, tool specifically seeks out weapons/pistol/pistol.weapon, and weapons/pistol/bullet.damage_effect, and changes them before compiling them into the map.

pistol/pistol.weapon's error angle upper bound is reduced from 2.0 to 0.4 degrees (this is likely the magic jason jones change). So instead of starting at an 0.2 degree cone and ending at a 2.0 degree cone -- 10 times less accurate -- it merely goes from 0.2 to 0.4. Big change!

You can observe this in action by compiling a singleplayer map yourself with the stock HEK tags, which have the "old" values; looking at the memory while the map's running will reveal these tags to have the newer values, as will looking at them after extracting them from a built map with HEK+. (you can also verify this by just shooting walls with weapons/pistol/pistol.weapon and a clone .weapon located elsewhere)

Here's the fun part though: when building a multiplayer map, tool does nothing. Instead, when h1 xbox loads a multiplayer map, it will change the values as they're being loaded into memory. The kicker? Halo PC doesn't do this. Halo PC multiplayer still uses the old Pistol max error of 2.0 degrees.

So, all along, PC MP players have been using the older, non-JJones-tampered version of the Pistol. Of course, pulling the trigger for every bullet (rather than holding it for automatic fire) completely bypasses the accuracy decrease, apparently by design according to this guy; so practically, the JJones change isn't as significant as it may seem.

Less known but arguably more significant is that plasma rifle/plasma rifle.weapon is also modified in the same way, having its error reduced from 0.5-5.0 degrees to 0.25-2.5 degrees; i.e., the HPC multiplayer PR is effectively half as accurate as its campaign & xbox MP counterpart

He mainly worked on the first Halo game - he wasn't a fan of the way Halo 2 multiplayer was balanced and he only worked on singleplayer because of it. He's created some maps (ex: Rat Race) and had a hand in many others (ex: Hang 'Em High, Damnation, Boarding Action). He seems to value a perfectly-balanced matrix of weapons, but overall he respects the importance of the subjective feeling of the weapon for the player.

I left early after RoI. TTK and the base game was filled with the dumbest stuff I've ever seen. So. Who else likes the idea of old style and new style being in halo 6. Like how halowars2 does it?

I don't mean everything is a clone. But a few things. Like pelicans. Marines. Some vehicles. Weapons. Etc.

Halo 5 already has classic BR/pistol and plasma rifle. And wouldn't be uncanon to have both pelicans.

Same with enemies. Maybe make one faction of grunts be ugly halo4 style who are more beserk and savage. But classic grunts be more tactical in a way. Same with other enemies. Like a savage/stupid/just rush into the player without thinking. And then the more classic ones who aren't as dumb.

Overall I think it would work. And would be nice to see less shitty design

Watching HCS on a whim, i'm surpised by how much usage automatic weapons are actually getting, as somebody who never cared for competitive halo it's amazing how much just using the entire weapon sandbox makes watching it more interesting.

General consensus is that the Magnum is undepowered, nobody keeps it unless they have to. The automatics have a faster TTK up close, and both the automatics & pickup rifles are much easier to use to the point where there's no point to grab a BR.

It's the most used because there's only like 2-4 rifles to go around across 8 people, and you lose them when you die. Weapons on the map should have some reason to pick them up, but pretty much every pickup is a straight upgrade to your starting loadout. There's no real thought into getting a BR vs just using the Magnum you spawn with. The only rifle that you don't really see people going for all the time is the LR, but that's because it spawns with such little ammo.
