I know Chief words it in a way that leaves him in a status where he theoretically could return if they wanted to use him again but for all intents and purposes he's probably not coming back.

It seems pretty clear to me based on the way they had him go down in Halo 4 as well as what the documentaries said about what was then known as "the ancient evil" that he was supposed to be somewhat of a reoccurring antagonist, but they scrapped that idea, likely due to negative feedback.

It's possible that he was supposed to be what Warden is but they instead decided to just ignore Didact and make a less pivotal character to do Cortana's bidding but still be leader of the prometheans.

I'm torn because on one hand I like games that end throwing you against everything the game has taught you to fight like a final exam of sorts (CE, 5) but on the other hand I like the idea of the covies being the starter enemy and the main antagonists getting the final boss spot (3, 4).

The only one I don't like for final enemies is 2. Just having Brutes, Jackals, and Buggers feels a bit anticlimactic to me, especially compared to the previous level where the flood are taking over high charity.

First off, pro speedrunners like naked Eli are not going to help you much. They're more likely to just get you frusterated. What you need is someone to slowly walk you through some of the essential skips. Everything else should be just trial and error. Practice makes perfect. Listening to Eli is like listening to a professional athletes trying to teach you how to play on the NFL. You need a personal tutor for just a few instances.

It works in CE on every checkpoint. If you save and quit you can go back into the checkpoint with the time where it was. The reason being that every time you die, the timer KEEPS GOING, so if you make it to a place you suspect you will have trouble with, save, quit, and go back in, then if you die for 10 minutes you can just reload the original save and get your 10 minutes back.
This method works also on Halo 2 HOWEVER if you try to do it on the final checkpoint, it will void the whole mission attempt, so if you're near the end of a level on H2, don't save and quit.

The nice thing about the 3 hour legendary runs are that they don't have to be all done in order. It just takes your lowest level times and adds them all up. However, you can't mic and match solo with Co op. One of the other for all levels.

I feel like this arc has just gone off on a tangent, its a mess and we need to start anew in my opinion. New writers, new focus, new enemies, new allies. Salvage what we can, bring Lasky front and center since we've barely seen him, try and dial down the prometheans, focus on Chief and Blue Team. It might be cool if we actually got some of the taste of what 5 should have been, trying to track Cortana and visiting Human colonies throughout the Galaxy and seeing how the Guardians are effecting her only to eventually find your way back to a Halo ring and come full circle.

The forerunners used to have a sense of mysteriousness about them and how the games have explored them has been extremely lackluster. There has to be more the games can explore than a couple of rings, requiem, the didact and prometheans.

Maybe Halo would benefit from a refresh. Now I'm not saying the next Mass Effect is good or bad but what they have done, which is separate themselves from the timeline of the previous games, is allowing them to explore more of the universe. Obviously where would this leave Chief? It would be a problem.

It would be great if Halo could do this as we're going to be continuously retreading the same stuff unless 343 really want to dive in and reboot the forerunners. Actually rebooting the forerunners seems like the best option to me

HOPEFULLY the arc gets finished off with 6, and we get some kind of resolution.From there we can find a new faction, redirect our focus to the stronger characters, and start a new plot that isn't a complete clusterfuck.

I read once that they were gonna scrap the idea of just a new trilogy and just keep making one, continuous story. If that implies that they're just gonna keep going off on this tangent without tying up loose ends and "starting over" per se, then 343 is gonna need to hire some damn good writers.

A real shame that they had to tarnish the franchise with such a shitty arc, though. Complete disappointment in the grand scheme of things. I feel that Halo 7 should get a DOOM refresh where Master Chief is thrown through time and space to an alternate universe where he has to fight Covenant and Flood again with the UNSC. I appreciate series' that acknowledge their failures but aren't ashamed by them. You don't get to keep retaking a test until you get A.

A good example is the tron movies.
The first one is bad. Really bad. Seriously go watch it.
The sequel came out decades later and had the chance to essentially just be entirely separated or even a reboot, but it didn't do that. It said "yeah, that movie happened, and this is a great sequel to that bad movie" and it made all the more worthwhile.
It's like real life. You'll have bad years. You can't do them over, but if you can accept them and move on, you'll appreciate the good ones more.
No franchise is perfect. The fact is we were spoiled for a long time with Halo. Now we have 2 campaigns that just look like those neighbors that moved into the neighborhood that you just don't like. Don't ignore them, build on them, learn from your mistakes, and Halo could be better than ever before.

No it's not. Every enemy has clear weak points, including the knights and the wardens. In Halo 4, the knights were just bullet sponges and if that incineration cannon or fuel rod that you had left behind for an encounter had despawned, there were just some areas you were hopelessly fucked at on solo Legendary. This isn't the case in 5 both because power weapons are more plentiful, knights are weaker (if you know what you're doing), and each level has a secret high level REQ weapon (Nornfang, Pool of Radiance, etc.) hidden not far from where you'll need it most that you can retrieve.

The central unifying characteristic of the Halo games is the dynamic between Chief and Cortana. It's very tongue and Cheek yet also personal. I've enjoyed seeing it transform and become more serious across the franchise.

Yep, Halo 5 story feels like complete filler. They could have gotten to the ending in half the missions with better character development if they actually tried.
