How useful is Luck/Agility in DDS?

I just reached Lucifer's Palace in IV and I must say the game really took a dive once I entered the Neutral route. Every boss is a joke and it's like everything that made the game unique before disappeared.

next mainline will have action oriented gameplay. it's the way of the future. I can imagine fighting enemies with weaknesses and needing to cast spells with a command menu KH style, this will cause enemies to stun and allow you to extend combos longer than usual. alternatively if you hit them with an attack they repel, you damage yourself, drain heals them, etc.

I hear you. I quite enjoy turn-based RPGs, so I'm actually afraid for their future. Atlus feels like the only company that still puts out quality turn based combat. Only other place I can find that is in SRPGs (XCOM, FE, Banner Saga) but I don't play those much.

I really don't know where everything went wrong. There was no reason for turn based combat to be phased out. It seems like developers just assumed the public didn't want them anymore and since they had so many more resources to make action oriented games, the entire genre kind of just faded. There's obviously plenty of people who still want them like us, considering the success of games like Bravely Default, Pokemon SuMo, and Persona 5. I hope we can see a revitalization of the genre but with Square; one of the largest companies still pushing out turn based RPGs, moving towards an action RPG future, things are looking kind of grim.

It's fine, I'm not the guy who was asking earlier, but I found the Chinese server download, and whatnot. Seems easy enough to get working, and maybe if the ENG server ever gets fixed up, I'll actually try the game again. I never made it far when the official ENG game was running.

STR sucks in IV. DEX is the stat to boost for physical builds. The only advantage STR has over DEX is boosting the power of your normal attack.

In short, never put any points into STR in IV, even if you're making a physical Flynn.

I really hope Tir Na Nog is more than just a dinky DLC grind zone in the next game. It looks pretty enough on the 3DS so I can't imagine how nice it would look on the Switch. Yeah I reckon it's probably more fun than most runs. Me 3ds isn't with me atm and i've not checked it in just over a week nor can I remember exactly where I got up to but I was about level 40 and tend not to go in for level grinding, if that makes any sense
I don't have a solid structure but an average is maybe 3 luck, 1Dex and 1 Ag. I recommend it

I've only played IV and Nocturne, of the main line. Played all of Persona and most of the spin offs. I'm curious how I'll feel about Apoc, because I enjoyed the gameplay of IV, but not so much the tone (in comparison to the masterful atmosphere of Nocturne).

I didn't dislike the setting in Apoc as some others in the general do. I didn't pay much attention to the plot either because even from the beginning in IV it was already shaky.

The gameplay was good enough to launch it from the bottom of the shit list to the top in any case. When it come to tone, every other Mainline game shits on Apoc.

I'm finally near the end game in SMT IV apocalypse so I'm ready to start building the ultimate party, but I don't quite understand the damage calculation. I vaguely recall in IV doing comparable damage with low level and high level skills at high enough magic levels (e.g. Agi did roughly 450, Trisagion did maybe 540) and it really helped prolonged battles when you could dish out similarly high damage at a fifth of the MP cost. Is this still the same in Apocalypse? At what point does the gap really start to close? That was happening at about 255 magic, which was easy to achieve for MC and low level demons buffed with the +1 on level up app.

I don't know exactly the calculations but I went for bufudyne instead of ice age for the mc (I'm pretty sure with +9 affinity it actually does MORE damage than ice age and it would be hard for to get high affinity for ice age because few demons have severe skills). It has very low mana cost too and you can recharge with energy drain so I wouldn't bother with bufu.

Originally shadows were just the Jungian theory, but then P3 had to ruin everything and in the process turn them into generic mobs whose terminology is being held over to describe demons in the case of P5, all of whom are also Personas. Come the new 3DS and Switch SMTs, I guarantee there are going to be people who refer to demons as shadows out of habit despite being completely unrelated concepts.

They are what you think they are. They're just also a part of Nyx. That's why all the shadows gather in Tartarus instead of roaming around and why they have those big shadows every full moon.
Nyx is represented by the Death Arcana, but it's not like she's a grim reaper.

I'm not sure how it connects to any other games in the series, but if the thing I read was translated correctly Nyx is basically connected to the Subconscious of all living things by an event where she was basically split in two. She went to the moon, while her body stayed on earth. Shadow's are apparently parts of her taking on the subconscious thoughts of humanity, hence their weirdly familiar shapes.
It's also how the Dark Hour came into play.

Killing everyone was humanity's underlying wish and thus eventually Erebus' wish, the way I see it Nyx basically just wants to be put back together. That's how he built the door to stop The Fall.
