Are you talking about the one with Thatcher on Chalet or Article 5? If it's the former, clear out the map of as many enemies as possible before picking up the hostage. The more enemies you kill inside the map, the less you have to deal with at the extraction.

If it's the Thatcher one on Chalet I found what worked best for me was going all the way around to the bonfire area, and rappelling up to the master bedroom. The hostage is there, so you only need to clear the one room, get him, get out, and run around the edge of the map towards extraction

You can drop the hostage whenever to pick them off with your rifle instead of having to pistol them all

Mira is the most fun I've had defending

Peeking through little hidey holes and knowing the enemy can't see you back is the most satisfying feeling

Lighting is baked in to the engine. You can see this for yourself by starting a custom lobby and having a friend stand in what should be a pitch black area on a night map. The character model will quite literally glow in the dark.

It can't be changed without a comprehensive overhaul of the entire game engine, and that won't happen.

How about this game mode idea. Sort of like endurance.
>Blue team vs orange team
>Orange team has to defend the objective while blue team tries to take it or kill all defenders
>If orange team wins, then the objective moves to another room and they get to defend again
>This goes on until blue team wins a round and then they get to defend while orange attacks
>Maybe make the objectives rotate in a set pattern so the defending team doesn't pick the 'best' site or randomly get chosen the 'best' site consecutively
>Maybe have permanent operator death; there's no respawning as usual, but if a named operator dies, they can't be chosen next round; recruits can always be chosen
>Maybe make map destruction and wall reinforcement placing carry over for each round until the attackers win; defending gets progressively more difficult as they win each round although it depends on how to balance the amount of gadgets and wall reinforcements defenders get each round, if any

I swear to god this game is like 95% kill the enemy, 5% do the objective.

The objective feels so pointless compared to stuff like CS:GO or even search and destroy on CoD. It's mostly just killing the other team. That being said. I do enjoy it, and I'm only level 18 and played casual. Maybe ranked is different.

Because in Siege the defenders start and stay on the one objective(which can be at several different spots). In CS there are two objectives to choose from and each team has to run to them.

Like imagine there was no objective, all tactics just fall through the floor. It's just drone, peak, and then ubisoft's fucky ping decides which peeker wins. With an objective, people at least have to partially pay attention to defending and attacking a point.

The reason it feels like that is because Siege emphasize defense a lot more than most games and offers different ways of breaching. In other games the cover is set in stone and your ability to defend usually boils down to how good you can shoot; attacking team has to clear one area and plant there. In Siege, defense can change up at any moment, and aim + reaction can only get you so far. A shit setup can ruin defenders quickly. Likewise, a solid defense and no good plan of attack can destroy attackers chances of succeeding.

Because of how quickly defenders can reach both sites, and how quickly attackers can take over a room once they get it, the best defense and offense is simply being unpredictable with what you're planning to do. That in turn means the best counter strat is just to kill everybody. Track roamers. Jump outside and shoot rapellers. Kill your teammate if he's getting interrogated. Kill your teammate if he's Fuze in Hostage mode. Everything (or at least most things) have to die to ensure that a dirty angle or sneaky defuser spot doesn't fuck you over.

This is a widespread misconception about Rook plates. They don't turn a 1 armor into a 2 armor, they give you a percentage of damage resistance depending on your armor type.

1, 2, and 3 armors get a 15, 17, and 20% damage resistance with Rook plates, respectively. A 2 armor operator with rook plates will still take more damage than a 3 armor. You can see what kind of a difference the damage resistance gives.
