The problem is that everybody becomes friends. It's quickly becoming a full on ceasefire aside from monolith. Even bandits are on friendly terms.
I don't mind the dynamic aspect but it needs to keep the conflict moving, otherwise you just have zones full of stalkers who aren't doing anything.

74 is a bit weak in comparison to others, but it's doable. Really depends on difficulty and if you'll be tweaking damage values. Personally I can't stand the default damage values on Master, I have to make it so the TTK is the same for myself and AI stalkers.
Also weapon choice depends on whether or not you use a weapon pack. With AO I like having an smg in the pistol slot and an AKM modded for firerate.
In the end it comes down to whether or not you want to carry around 4 different guns. I'd just stick with 2.

You're doing it wrong.

You are supposed to raid enemy factions, take the quests from the neutral military/freedom/merc/duty that will inevitably happen at some point and reignite the fires of war.

You have to use it with dynamic quests and overhauled faction relations as well.

They are doing things themselves however.

The whole thing is Dynamic factions, Overhauled factions, and dynamic quests. People declare war on each other at the drop of a hat when factions ceasefire and are neutral to each other. More military attacks on Clear sky from cordon, more loner and bandit attacks from and on the bridge and loner base.

It ends up being the village at the military warehouses from rostok but everywhere. All the little camps that used to be abandoned and just housed mutant spawns and loot are taken as staging points for future raids and the eventual collapse of a safe base. Follow NPC's that are just walking out of bases and you'll see a majority go directly into the danger zone.

You need to pair it with increased spawn times to get the fullest effect. Also you should fuck with the files so monolith and bandits become a true faction that can ally with others instead of being the designated bad guys.

Not him but I actually prefer AO to STCoP. More variety of weapons, less accurate, more recoil. That next update for STCoP looks like its gonna make it the top dog weapons mod though. Do we know how far away it is?

CoM is the closest to gaming perfection i have come across. There are a few things that annoy me, but overall it seems to be the perfect S.T.A.L.K.E.R experience to me. I see the zone as a being a miserable experience overall and trial and error seem to be your best teacher. I see the failures as an alternate timeline where you failed. I mean I have been trying to take the Depot in Garbage for almost an hour with a TOZ-34 with 20 shells, an AKS with 30 rounds, and a Makorav with 100 rounds. I know I will succeed, it will just take awhile. All else fails, I will leave and try again.

I haven't played these games in a while, and I feel that the mod scene might have changed since the last time I played it. I want to play a mod for Shadow of Chernobyl that feels like an expanded version of the original game. What's the best mod for that? Yeah i agree, It was much easier to get ammo for the 417 since monolith dropped it sometimes, but Beowulf .50 ammo was incredibly rare dropped and costs a ridiculous amount from traders. But that max damage stat, that thing can 1 hit kill almost anything.

fair enough. You can get Doctor X's questline mod to give it a unique questline for every faction if you want more purpose than straight freeplay.

Totally agree'd, the fact that it could 1-2 shot any stalker + the fact that it could 3-6 shot a pseudogiant makes it worthwhole in my book, i just didnt like the cost. I preferred AK ammo or something more common. I would rather use more ammo at a cheaper cost than use more money than the enemy is worth, but thats just me. I hate loosing money. I guess I'm autisic like that.

Ok I need help.

I'm getting similar kind of error in every fucking mod I install to ShoC. Installed OGSE 0692 (and I fucking couldn't fuck up the installation of it) and got this error after loading up the game. What the fuck is happening guys? I can play vanilla, but once I install any kind o mod, I'm getting similar errors like that.

This is fucking it. All weapons have unique upgrades too. Rusty/old variations have the same trees, but some upgrades are locked. From Misery it has K-98, G43, Sako TRG and M24, but four latest are hidden and you can get them only through debug.
It's a brand new weapon pack based on STCoP.

midgame sure, I'd main an ak12 and an H&K416 for 5.45 & 5.56 since they are by far the most common ammo drops in the game. Later on I always go battle rifle 7.62 (417 or scar) & and and SVU for dat upgraded 6x scope and regular ammo drops. Late game when i have too much money beowulf +silencer + m203 because that thing rapes fucking everything.

Assload of work to extract frames out of the whole movie (for 2 minutes there is about 350-400 frames if you take every 12) and then adding the filenames to the .seq file not even mentioning the .dds convertion.

I'm neither but I really like Clear Sky for the interfactional stuff, even if it's limited. CoP made some good gameplay changes but completely abandoned a lot of Clear Sky features which could have been great. Also Clear Sky was buggy as fuck for a long time and CoP felt a lot smoother. Not really a good pair to compare with each other, Misery's an overhaul mod for CoP and CoC is more or less just a base for mods.

I've been enjoying the shit out of CoC with AO+OA+itemsoup though, maybe even more than I enjoyed Misery (yes I actually enjoyed it...). Have been thinking if I should download CoM, sounds good, but I think I'll stick with what I have now for a while longer..

I just started my first ever Com run as an Ecologist and I feel the guns bretty balanced.

STCoP for CoM is way more balanced than AO for CoM (which is actually not updated for 1.0d yet). Prices, economy, loadouts of faction traders and enemies - all this is considerably better in STCoP. Current version can be viewed as a new exclusive weapon pack, because it adds a lot of weapon variants.
Minigun is only present in AO (including AO for CoM). What else would you consider a meme weapon?

Default CoM guns and gunplay is quite good. There's decent weapon variety and the balance is well done. AO for CoM didn't feel as good. STCoP sounds much better by all accounts, but I'm going to wait on a translation.

One tweak to consider: 1.0d has jacked up NPC view distance to twice vanilla/Misery/CoC and it makes walking through the swamps very frustrating as you're detected and shot at from silly distances. To drop those back, open up configs/creatures/m_stalker.ltx and change the values for max_view_distance in the stalker_vision_free and stalker_vision_danger sections to 0.8 (drop from 1.75) and 1.0 (2.0) respectively.

Do this: Start game, do not do new game, go into options and switch video to Full Dynamic Lighting, then exit the game to the desktop. Now start the game and check the video options, it should be set to Full Dynamic Lighting. Play the game.

What's happening is that the video option doesn't take effect till you restart. Since you're not restarting and crashing the game instead, the option is not being saved, so yuou're restarting in static lighting every fucking time.

The main cause of the problem I think, is the hit probability max dist in the weapons.ltx which for some bizarre reason is set at 0.001

You can change this to whatever, I put it at 600, some people put it at 1000, but for realistic purposes this should probably be put at 300 to simulate the average range where most trained humans can be reliably accurate with small arms in combat conditions.

other than that, you can also open actor.ltx and change the hit probability tied to the difficulty, if you change it to 1.0 this will mean no more random "birdies" that physically hit you but dont do any damage.

these two together make the game significantly harder. Throw in WARFIGHTER addon to fix the damage system.

Dunno famalam, right now I have CoC 1.4.22 ready, CoP with AO on my Steam copy and Misery on my GoG copy. SoC still has AA 1.2 installed for Steam so I could see what I could add to my GoG copy of SoC mod-wise.

I kinda wanted to go with Call of Misery ecept I don't speak cheeki and recently did a playthrough of radiophobia already. I'm kinda done with the storyline and have played most Engrish translated story mods already.

I want to try out CoC and as I was looking through the addons for it I noticed Dynamic Faction Relations and Warfare. Are these two compatible? From what I can tell they aren't. However I saw a new version out and some comments on moddb about better compatibility. So what's up with that?
Any opinion on which one should I use?

I have right now CoC 1.4.22, STCoPWP 5.1 and Outfit Addon 1.4.5. I'm thinking of adding the mods of DocX and possibly Warfare.

Is there anything else I should add? I want a pretty good starter setup. Some general pointers would be good enough.

It's got old story elements, the stuff that was cut out of the actual release since it's based on RMA - Old Story Restoration. RMA does a good job since it uses existing but unused assets mostly. Radiophobia itself has some good atmosphere and a few whacky elements like tougher mutants being spawned after emissions. Easy enough to remove that if you edit scripts.

That's not true, there are many parallels. They both involve a cordoned off zone filled with anomalies and artifacts that people illegally sneak into for profit. Though the way in which they quite different is in how it functions, with STALKER's zone being very active and with constant warfare, while RP's is a very desolate place with no fighting beyond avoiding border guards and is just about carefully navigating around anomalies

If you're using AO with CoM you're still at 1.0c. 1.0d will break your save, so don't install that over your 1.0c.

Your best bet is to copy your savegames somewhere and reinstall 1.0c + AO. If you're missing item_repair mysteriously, some other stuff may be missing too.

Or take the jump to 1.0d + STCoP, it's better.

Depends on the game. There are ammo repack mini mods that repack ammo when you close your inventory or a stash box, but they take a bit of merging. What game are you playing and what mod?

Those mini mods also work by creating new ammo boxes on you while deleting the old, unpacked ones. I've seen them cause problems with an occasional dropped ammo box.

CoC fixed this and does the repack in a better way that doesn't involve the hackery above.

The 1.0d translation does update a few script files to their 1.0d variants. But that doesn't explain how you lost files.

1.0d + STCoP feels much much better than AO because the modder has gone the extra mile to add in all the new/modern/worn/rusty variants and other such detail. It's harder than vanilla CoM and AO I think because ammo is more expensive now. Use the tweak pack I posted in >>168097602 to fix some issues with 1.0d.

Also, copy gamedata/configs/text/rus/st_items_weapons.xml to gamedata/configs/text/eng/st_items_weapons.xml if you want the Russian text for weapons as opposed to nothing at all. Should be a translation soon that'll fix this of course.
