Get rid of the aggressive katana one first. Very easy to parry and take out fast. Second is the one with the sword and candle. You needn't worry about the last one, just dodge his slow moving projectiles and save him for last. Get right in his face when the other has been parried to death and just beat him down. Works best if he's cornered.

If you work fast enough, you don't even need to concern yourself with their transformation. First two should be down before they use any snake powers.

32.6% Thrust gems make it incredible, but only in tricked mode. Some attacks untricked are not thrust. Also remember that Viscerals count as thrust, so with three 32.6% gems, 50 SKL and some Clawmark Runes you can one-shot Watchers.

I tried it out on a new build recently going for a Str/Arc build, and liked it a lot more than I did my first time using it, funny thing is I planned on using it until I got the wheel, which I ended up not caring for despite the amount of love it gets here. Ended up deciding to rush the Arm instead, so we'll see how much fun that is.
But yeah, hammer is pretty great.

I have a 50 BLT build, and the evelyn does 300-350 a shot. 25 BLT maybe does around 250 a shot. Maybe 700+ with BMA. It's much cooler in terms of design and animation though, and even feels faster, though it has the same startup as the pistol and blunderbuss.

You can if you end up really liking it. Starting weapons are perfectly viable through the whole game
There are other choices though, Saw Spear and Rifle Spear can be found pretty early, Reiterpallasch and Saif a little later if you know where to look. Go ahead and enjoy the cane for now, you'll find other choices down the line.

I'm pretty sure physical would win.

With Fire you need to use two Cold Abyysals, and the highest % gem you can get is 27%, then it's boosted by whatever Oil Urns do (1.5x? 2.0x? I actually don't know).

Meanwhile a 50/50 Physical Stake would be using 0-1 Heavy Abyysals and 2-3 9.8% + 27% gems. You are multiplying a higher base damage by higher %'s. Maxed Beasthood is 1.7x, which combined with the gems would definetly overtake Fire + Oil.

For the physical one, it would almost certainly do exactly nothing. Once AR >= 8x DEF, Defense no longer has any effect. That being said, some elemental weaknesses apply after defenses. With 50/50, 3x 9.8/27 gems, and 70% boost from Beasthood, a charged R2 would have an unmitigated damage of ~5.8k damage. So any defense value between 0 and ~700 would reduce damage by the same amount.

Anyways, that would deal ~5.2k damage.

Oil Urn IIRC gives 2.5x damage, after defenses.u

Unmitigated damage for a charge R2, assuming you have 50 Arcane, a Cold Abyssal radial with 6% charge ATK up, 65/15 waning, and 27.2 triangle, would be ~2.3k. Anything with less than ~280 fire defense (which is the vast majority of enemies) would take ~2.1k damage, which would go up to ~5.2k damage with the urn if I'm remembering the damage multiplier correctly.

If you hit something weak to fire (Beast or Kin, basically), that would be ~7.7k damage, assuming multiplicative stacking of Urn + fire weakness. Which it might not be, idk. If it's additive, then it'd be ~6.2k damage.

On my third character for the last ending I'm missing. Decided to switch things up a bit and go get the Saif after Amelia since I've never used it.

This thing fucking rocks, the R1 dash is amazing and the transform attacks are the best I've seen so far. I was also lucky enough to pick up 2x 7.8% phys gems while in the hunter's nightmare, so I'm doing pretty significant damage considering how early I am in the game.

Oh anon. You have much to learn. You can get 10% physical gems on layer 1 of Depth 1 Pthumeru. 20.3% radials in depth 3, 16.5% + 14.9 flat triangles in Lower Hintertomb. That's all pre-Amelia, you can do Lower Loran and Defiled Pthumeru before Shadows of Yharnam, which means +10 weapon and 24% radial gems and top tier Waning Gems.

You want to level both STR and ARC for Moonlight Sword. If you aim for 25/50 you can use a whole bunch of weapons effectively. Moonlight, Wheel, Tonitrus, Kos Parasite and any Pura physical weapon you want converted to ARC scaling using a fire/bolt/arcane gem.

It's a fun build but requires you to do chalice dungeons alongside the main story so you can have gems to convert your weapons.

How many Chalice's have you done?

Decent bolt wanings can be found in Ailing Loran (18% + 20-something flat) but Bolt radials come from fishing hamlet. You could use Defiled Amy Nourishings but if you can't beat Living Failures i doubt you'll get through defiled.

Maybe you just need better fire gems. If you beat Ludwig you can beat HMPH, and from there you can grind 16.5% fire radials.

It's for a Beast Cutter, but it could go into any weapon that I want to be fire, really.

As for the strictly best gems, it varies from weapon to weapon. You want a 27% fire triangle in the Stake Driver, for example, because the modifier for the rocket punch is high enough that that gives bigger benefits than the Hotdog abyssal. But for a weapon like the Saw Cleaver, the Hotdog abyssal makes for better damage. The difference is negligible one way or the other, mostly it's just because grinding out fire triangles from Watchers is a fucking nightmare.

Some weapons with lower base damage and modifiers get better use out of a Hotdog or Eribritas Abyysal with matching flat secondary. For Bolt Abhorrent Beast Abyysals are almost always better due to the +33 flat bolt that's possible.

Often 27%'s are better on stuff like charge R2's while 24% +15 is better on r1 spam. You need to work it out for each move on every weapon and decide which benifits you would rather have.

EG on a Stake Driver you'd always want a 27% because Charge R2's (with a 3.55 multiplier) are that weapons gimmick. But a Saw Spear would get a bigger benifit out of an Abyysal on all the moves you commonly use.

So I finally got around to playing and beating this game and was wondering if there was a list of average levels per area because I want to do lots of coop but BB is so open ended anyone could be doing anything at any level.

I mean I only did piss dmg with my +3 Cane and as he was at half he healed up with one vial to ~90% so the fight would've taken quite some time I guess depending on how often he can heal ...
