If you wait until later, you can befriend him and get his badge and he'll give some cool lore tidbits and an emote, after which you can kill him and get his set. So I did a bit of testing and found that the beast clerics in Loran dungeons seem to do their rare fire AoE attack if you're behind them while they're aggroed. You don't even have to hit them, so long as you're behind them they have a chance to do it.

Also if anyone needs Hotdog abyssals, I'm going to be setting up a savescum in a minute, glyph is 758v8txa and the pass will be hotdog.

That one is the easier though. Aim for the weakspot earlier. Then you have 2 easy options. Bait his attack, wait until it's over, dash attack, backstep safely repeat, or, bait combo, dodge behind him during the second hit, hit him twice, leave and repeat.

Here's how I did it earlier.

Run behind him. He will lift his scythe and do an aoe swing. Dodge backwards, quickstep behind him again.

The chain variant is bullshit - but he ALWAYS does his aoe spin if you are behind him. And you can use this ad infinitum to kill him.

(There is a random chance that the chain will bounce in to you)

Saws are pretty much objectively better, Saw Spear is serrated in both forms, faster untricked than Ludwig's, has the same range, maybe even better because its hitboxes are wonky, stunlocks most enemies (all weapons do to an extent, that's a feature of the game), plus it's more fashionable

Plus, why would you use a greatsword in a game full of interesting and unique weapons with all kinds of weird and fun movesets? If you're gonna optimize for damage, use the whirligig and L2 everything

Not in the slightest. The cleaver and spear untricked are the same, but tricked, totally different.

The cleaver gains very nice vertical slashes with r1, and horizontal slashes with r2, it actually has an incredibly varied moveset, it has a charged r2 that has TWO follow up attacks, depending on how much stamina you've got. The first follow up has a knockback and the second follow up pancakes enemies. I believe it has the most varied moveset of the game, because it also has dash-r1 and r2s, as well backstep and trick attacks.

The spear gains very nice horizontal slashes with r1, and gains an incredibly useful thrust attack with its r2, and has a follow up attack to its r2, a a wide sweep which knocks enemies back. Add to this its dash attacks, backstep and trick attack, the latter of which is supremely useful.

Bad move your first go, since Bloodtinge builds rely on gems for their best damage output.

However, this is your first time through, so don't worry about your build, just find what's fun for you, but be warned, Bloodtinge only comes into its own with good gems.

For just general funsies, level strength and skill to 50 and 25 (or 25 and 50, depends which weapons you want to be stronger) and level arc to 20 to play around with some fun stuff.

You can try both and choose which feels best. I consider moveset more important than dps, which is why I rushed to get the saif in my arcane build.

For the first playthrough, I'd recommend focusing on either STR or SKL. You already picked skill, so just get that to 50, and STR to 25. That will give you access to most of the weapons, and is generally a great build for PvE.
Blt is only worth it in highly specialized builds.

Laurence is straight up artificial difficulty and nothing anyone says will convince me otherwise. I have breezed through this fucking game without any help or guides or anything except orphan and laurence and even orphan I have almost beat a few times with less tries than laurance. He has the normal cleric beast hitboxes extended artificially by fire and then his AI just spams swipes to the left or right if you try to hug his sides to avoid that shit. It also means your dodges need to be perfect or you take the damage from the fire still. Then his second phase shits out so much lava its hard to get in and finish him off. He is terribly made and the only bit of artificial difficulty in bloodborne and the only thing I hate about it.

Speaking as an arc build, it isn't actually that hard. You can draw their aggro individually pretty easily, and having a bolt and a fire weapon makes short work of each.

It helps that I have perfect gems, though. Being able to one-shot brainsuckers is a real godsend.

I see Hitler as a strong man, not so weakling hiding away, casting spells. Also my Arc character, Gandalf (the Gay) is already made to /bbg/ PvP standards. He is mostly broccoli form, and I didn't like the idea of Hitler in the form of a Jew.

No way to stop it building up other than by taking a sedative to reset the frenzy meter. You can get a rune of Frenzy Resist + 200 in the forbidden woods, at the back of a trench where there are two giant snake mobs, and using that makes it take significantly longer for the brain dolls to build up your frenzy meter.

He already can't ever go back to the main area of Cainhurst because he never lit the entrance lantern, and there is no path back from the boss lantern to the entrance. Bold hunter's mark won't take him to a lantern he never lit. Entrance lanterns to areas you teleport to should be lit automatically, if you ask me.

At least he could see the vileblood queen if he beats Logs.

I think you met the two hunters, they're tough. There's a trick to them, though, you can actually get BEHIND them by not going down the stairs, but dropping off the roof beside it. If you're careful, you can walk up, visceral one and fight him while the other one remains unaware.
