Use the blue pumps and not as much pressure. If you use a canister, you have to have at least the presssure you want to fill to, if you use the blue pump it only takes about 100kpa to fill a full tank. If you only fill you pipes to about 2000kpa, you can easily get -260 out, just takes some fiddling. I usuaully fill to about 7000 moles in the pipes then leave it to cool, pump it out once its finished, then repeat a another time to fill the standard collectors.

I'm not sure about your second question. I do not believe a "tile" has an upper limit. If its entire area (ie the room) is infinitely dense then so will the tile. The gas won't eventually push each other out.

If you are just asking about what an average tile of air is:

Pressure: 101.3 kPa

Nitrogen: 78% (82.08 moles)

Oxygen: 21% (21.82 moles)

Meanwhile a canister of air is:

(E) (C) (M) nitrogen = 1477.94
(E) (C) (M) oxygen = 392.87
(E) (C) (M) pressure = 4559.63
(E) (C) (M) total_moles = 1870.81

So a standard tile aboard the station has 103 moles of gas and and a standard canister of air has 1870. So a canister has 18 times more gas than a tile. However again, this is tricky because canisters technically don't have an upper limit. They can theoretically hold infinite amounts of gas if they are equalizing with pipes containing infinite gas. If the pipe network they are connected to contains 50,000 moles, they will equalize with it (50,000 minus the addition of a new pipe (the canister) which would depend on the size of the previous pipe network before the canister was added).

It looks like, it grew to stage two and the immediately stepped onto the field generator. As far as I know that shouldn't happen, singularities are pushed back if they try to grow into a field and aren't going to stage five, and shouldn't be able to step onto a field in the same situations. This might have actually been a christmas miracle to get Nick away from engineering for good.

The shard requires something to transfer its heat to to cool down, theres nothing in space to do that with, so it won't cool, it just stays at the same temperature without increasing.
