Apocalypse? Nah. It melds in quite well with the vanilla spells in terms of balance. Colorful Magic is the only one where being OP would be a concern. Besides, you can fix that with Skytweak which is one of those mods that everyone should have if you want to avoid becoming too powerful.

Be warned the enemies are tough cookies. They're pretty fun at high levels, but if you don't want them to wreck your shit and just want the spells, get Simplified.

I'd imagine you wouldn't need the .esp at all, unless yours actually reroutes the helmets to a different filename in which case yes, it would conflict.

You'd either delete the ref to deadric in that plugin or simply route it back to the vanilla filename.

How do I make this not look like this?

So, if you were to rewrite the thieves guild questline of Skyrim, how would you do it?

I'd change the whole nightingale deal as it's the biggest flaw of the questline. You're in to become a thief, not a deadra's wannabe batman.
Nobody from the thieves guild was or is a nightingale, except Mercer. Mercer is the 'bad' guy and betrays both groups.
Everyone knows that the guild coffers are empty at the beginning. The vault is unlocked and opened (maybe locked behind bars, but visible).
The player restores the guild first. All local quests contribute to the guild restoration and fill the coffers. At some point, Mercer will reveal himself as a nightingale and steal all the stuff you amassed for the guild's restoration. Then you get the stuff back and have him killed (or kill him).
Joining the nightingales isn't a part of the thieves guild quest. Using the skeleton key frequently will get you hunted by unnamed nightingales. You can only become a nightingale after you return the key.
All of the things that happened in the past with Karliah and Gallus will have to move forward in time. 25 years is nonsensical.
All quests in the questline will have to do with stealing stuff.

Do you spot any plot holes so far? Any weak links? What could Mercer's ultimate goal be? In this version, he already has a damn big fortune.

I'd have it so that if you got arrested and served time in any of the regular jails, there'd be a chance for you to meet a thief who will tell you where you can fence stolen goods, or even if you just go down to visit a prison and you have good speech. Then, after you reach a certain fence of goods sold, he'd send you to steal something for him, before introducing you to a contact in the thieves guild. I'd have it so the Mercer character had already robbed the guild blind and everyone is really fucking upset over it from the get go, like he's out of there. One or two people are good enough sportsmen to have a laugh about it, but for the most part they're pissed off. Some people are talking about getting violent revenge on him, but the older thieves are like "we don't kill, it's not our way". That's just from what you can overhear from conversations. If you ask people about it, they'll be pretty bitter. I would have the thieves meet up somewhere informal, rather than in the ratway, but the ratway would be introduced later on as where the thieves guild is storing what it earns from resale of stolen goods, or where they would store it if Mercer hadn't have taken most of it. I wouldn't mind some missions which were just "fence X amount worth of cash" early on, just to get your foot in the door, if there were bigger heists. I'm not sure if Skyrim's engine could facilitate this, but I'd like some team heists, where you have one job in the heist and the other's have to do things like distract guards and snatch other items, for example they want you to steal the Dragon's Skull in Dragonsreach so your fellow theives invent an incident where the court would have to be attended and so all the NPCs are looking at this bizarre scenario that's playing out in the middle of the hall while you and the lads haul the skull out of the window. Maybe the Jarl has cracked down on their activites and it's just a "well, fuck you too" to him. It could be anything, really.

I think it was just me struggling in the default male creator for so long that working with a female character feels easier, I don't blame you. It gives you control over Killcam and killmoves. You can enable and disable alot of features and even allow killmoves for weapons that normally wouldnt have them. B-but the entire TES series qualifies as high fantasy, as it is by definition just a subtype of fantasy where magic is commonplace, it is not set in the real world or any variation thereof, and there is a wide variety of nonhuman sentient species. Morrowind and Skyrim are just as high fantasy as Oblivion, Morrowind arguably more so.

I don't crash noticeably often when I have it running, and I really like how battles have a semi-permanent effect on the world because of the territory system. Also you can lead armies and form your own faction and stuff, which is cool.
