Morrowind made the world so much smaller, not in terms of size (well, that too but I don't really think it's fair to compare), but in terms of your place in the world. It's unthinkable in Daggerfall that your character could turn around and murder the Emperor, you're just a small part of a magical world. In Morrowind you're a snowflake, you can kill the gods of Morrowind no problem. There's this thousands of years old Dunmer mage hanging around? Well, who cares you're the Nerevarine! Really terrible. Plus Morrowind turned the empire into Dude Romans, Lmao and everyone lives in Tudor houses or uninspired square looking buildings. Morrowind also steals alot of the world's mystery. I didn't know who made Numidium in Daggerfall, it was a part of the world, you know? Then in Morrowind it's "the ancient Dwarves did it!". Really terrible. Even worse, they seem to be able to replicate this world fucking up device. Morrowind sucked the fantasy and magic out of Elder Scrolls.
