Corpse cart and Mortis engine allow you to field massive amounts of cheap infantry that both buffs and heals skeletons and zombies to make them cost effective, also mortis engine can whittle the enemy away faster than they can kill hour horde.

med2 had the best map in a strategical sense, not overdesigned like rome2 or warhams, but not as bleak as rome.

It's also very adaptable unlike Shogun or Attila, building farms and
mines actually showed on the map, it's very modable and has enabled many great mods aswell.

Imagine the Third age Map with the Attila Mod Battle mechanics and models, would literally be the 10/10 Total War game

Eteranl guard is your early-game mainline unit (get raped by chosen).
Wardancers with spears are your all-purpose fast halbeards, that can fight well against other infantry (but they get raped by chosen).
Wildwood Rangers are your mid/lategame mainline infantry, that can fight well against other high-tier infantry, and can do a little bit of anti-large duty (but they still get raped by chosen).

Moral of the story- use chosen, get mad pussy.

They don't win against the same things. While both are anti-large, wardancers with spears are better at killing large creatures. Rangers have a very fast charge animation and anti-armor, which allows them to win out against most other elite infantry.

Basically, wildwood rangers are the more expensive and more effective version of regular wardancers. spear wardancers are the murdery variety of eternal guard.

It is the best in the series though and Rome 1 is a straight downgrade mechanically. Medieval had great balance, great battle speed unlike the full retard arcade battles of RTW, competent AI on both the campaign and battle map, impassable terrain so you don't fight sideways on volcanos, and a boatload of features that were removed (then sometimes advertised as new in later games) such as dismounting cavalry before battle, named individual officers with stats and traits that can be landed titles and made general, three way battles, the option to betray an ally in the middle of a battle, and civil war mechanics related to all these officers that let you pick which side you want to play as. The game still holds up to this day and is only overshadowed by its sequel because of shiny 3D graphics and fantasy mods. Even with dozens of scripts giving the AI money and armies every turn they still manage to sabotage themselves in Rome all the time.

If the enemy is the same size as your front line, they wont. They'll freely shoot on cav/monstrous infantry, but not on two things fighting that are the same size. You can work around this by placing them on elevated grounds so they shoot down, or have the enemy on higher ground than your front line. Or just the good old box formation.

Dwarfs will always counter WE hard. Bring a Runelord and 2 Runesmiths and watch their entire army melt under your runes of wrath and ruin due to their low health. Bring grudge throwers to counter their range advantage and quarrelers to shoot their gay birds.

The same goes for Chaos really, WE can't really do anything against heavily armored and shielded chaos knights combined with forsaken, chosen, chaos manticores and a chaos fire sorcerer.

Also Empire steam tanks are incredibly effective against them.

So lets say you had 10 full units before a battle and after the battle you had only 1 unit almost depleted from fighting, that can possibly give you a "close victory" even if the other 9 units got really low causalities

My only complaint is that it makes garrisons huge and therefore you usually require at least 2 stacks to be able to scrape out a win against a big city like a walled Tier 4. Otherwise I like the mod since it refines every faction to be stronger in their own areas. (Dwarfs tougher, wood elves faster, etc.)

Started off by wiping out Ostland, then dicked Kislev over for a bit, then took out Ostermark. Moved onto the Red Eye and Zhufbar. Finally moved towards the Wood Elves and I plan to completely wipe these cheating shits out. Fucking max tier cities and tree along with a bunch of Forest dragons, treemen/kin, other amber using units off of three outposts and no alliances, as fucking if.

There would be a few wonky things with AI, but it would take 5 straight marches to hit attrition level vigour. And with AI attrition immunity, it shouldnt be a big deal.

The AI also already detects and acts off its vigour levels, since it effects the balance bar. Since this is already a thing with march and raid stance to some degree. So it wont be TOO stupid. Only problem would be them constantly being low vigour so theyre always weak, and it might make them too passive. If they march across the map to fight you, but turn back once they see they have a low chance becase their army vigour is now low.

Would have to see how bad it is, but you could just tweak values to make it less harah on AI, like CA did with attrition values.

Yeah man, I'd be playing brettonnia if they were out.

During one of my empire campaigns, somehow the orcs that start in wissenland went out of control and starting razing everything. They had two hoards and a massive waagh. Half their army were savage archers so I decided to mass knights and I had the pleasure of playing the most heroic battle I've ever witness. The map was packed end to end with men and had 12 units of knights. I even had a lord with a knight helmet and I gave him a barded warhorse so he could fit in. After an enormous charge, my knights swept the battles field. It was pretty cool.

People around here bitch the knights suck, but I think they are pretty damn powerful.

At the very least, it's thematically dull as shit. The only interesting things you see are when you're attacking shit like the Oak or major cities. Otherwise 95% of your battles take place on the same 5 copy pasted plains that took CE ten seconds to make.
So much for that exciting visual warhammer medium.

I do two things

I like them both. I think SFO offers a harder, better campaign but Lorehammer has all the integrated feature mods. All the Walls in Lorehammer turns mid-late game into a sluggish crawl though.

Siege battles in general aren't fun. There isn't many ways to make taking walls or destroying them fun. It's usually just a grind after you make your initial orders. Very little room to make tactical decisions unless you have a large flying squad or something.

I know a lot of folks disagree, but Warhammer taking a step back from making every settlement a siege battle was a good move on CA's part. Lorehammer trying to bring back the old system is an awful idea unless I missing what the modder actually intends to do with it.

Personally, I would prefer making siege battles more faction focused. I love that wood elves don't get proper fortifications because that goes along with their "only the forest matters" attitude and their focus on maneuvering.

I think dwarfs should be the only faction to get walls in all of their major settlements. Empire should only get it for the most important settlements (like Altdorf), but they are very strong with canon towers and large garrisons of state troops. Vampires have large zombie hordes and extra winds of magic when vampire corruption is high. Orcs might just get broken down walls and towers that they stole from the former inhabitants and so on.

That way siege battles have a bit more flavor to them and are less auto resolve bait in general imho.

I use them as artillery that gives up aoe damage and siege ability for speed and stealth. They can be really useful if you can position them to get several free shots on enemy heroes, spellcasters, and artillery.

Bonus damage to those vulnerable to it and less damage to those who are not. Carin wraiths are very resistant to physical damage and so magical damage is important to have when fighting them.

the AP bonus does balance it out mostly, although starfire shafts already have less base damage than the regular glade guards in exchange for that AP. About half of regular damage is going through anyway, and a quarter of the starfire shaft's AP goes to nothing because of 25% magic resist. When you factor in the +100 shekels starfire costs, there's no way its worth it.

Seems you're right actually. I just saw they did decent AP and thought it was enough, but that magic resist is pretty strong. Plus some of the dawi get a fire resist too. So standard for damage and maybe poison one or two for the debuffs.
