It's why I love Wood Elves so much. I don't even form a proper line of Eternal Guard anymore. It's so much fun to have this spread out army that envelops the enemy line and attacks them everywhere all at once.

Or using woods to play peek-a-boo. Just anything that isn't a frontline of spears, then big guys w/ large charge bonus, and then arrows + spellcasters in the rear with cav on the flanks.

There's usually one wandering around.
Sure you have to fight 2 armies and maybe part of a 3rd, but if you swarm the fucks who reinfoce at your back and make battle lines quick you can do it.

Watch out for the billion bullets and arrows though. Rieksguard gonna get chewed up chasing them around, so focus fire with your own crossbowmen.

Depends on what your facing. 30 armor is about the break even point where armor pen units and non armor pen units deal the same damage. Against empire, mauraders, and undead, crossbows are much better since the have more range and can volley over our melee line. Not to mention they cost less.

40k can't help being a shit setting that appeals to autists though. There's something so immersion breaking about just elves or orks in space and so much of the setting is clumsy. Tau and Tyranids are probably the most convincing races since they appear totally alien/sci fi and don't hark back to fantasy. Even Necrons are pretty disappointing since they are just metal skeletons. It's a problem I have with a lot of sci-fi though, they just assume humanoid morphologies would be widespread.
