I wouldn't put money on Miles Morales being anything more than a costume swap considering that Spider-man homecoming literally steals almost everything interesting about the character to give it to Peter (namely Ganke)

For MvC2 and MvC3, Capcom just asked if they could use random characters they wanted.

For MvCI they are working directly with Marvel to promote movies/main comics. Marvel have a rep that used to work for Capcom on their ass.

I'd bet that the launch roster will basically be pulled from this image. The DLC will be Xmen, FF (confirmed by leaker) and then hopefully random MvC alumni like Shuma Gorath and Modok.

but seriously if you're losing that consistently study your moves and adapt. record yourself playing and then see what you've been doing wrong - then change up the game plan.

if you're jumping into DPs too often learn to jump less, if you're getting thrown too often learn to defend against that better by practicing snap-throws on touch, if you're mashing then catch yourself and settle down

if you're a super scrub some basic advice is to drop learning combos (for now) and to learn all of your buttons and the range on each. most scrubs don't even know what each standing neutral attack on their character does, let alone which moves change while holding forward or back. What I do when learning any new character is to play a shitload of matches using nothing but one or two buttons each to get used to the range and presses that you don't normally use.

Ok in that case I think you should think about learning some other characters. The secret to predicting your opponents moves is twofold: 1. you know what your opponent's character wants to do, which setups they want to catch you in, what their options are, etc., and 2. understand your opponent's rhythm (the actual person). the 3rd option is to just be amazing at reading frames and having instant responses but that shit isn't a talent I have so I couldn't help you there.

as an example for #1 if you're fighting grappler character you should expect them to go for command throws and to try and get you within those ranges. if you learn that character it's a lot easier to predict their next action. as another example, take the character you specialize in for example. In mirror matches you can probably predict their next move before it hits. If you're really into a fighter I'd say to learn the basics behind every character. It takes time but you will understand their strategy, options and play style a lot more if you do it. helps your prediction and reading their moves a lot if you already know the most likely button their press next wakeup.

for #2, understanding their "rhythm," that changes with each opponent, each round, each match, and you probably already know what I'm talking about anyway. as an example think of Ryu and Ken. They have DP and fireballs. OK. let's say that you're fighting Bob and he spams DPs like crazy, or Bill who sits back and spams fireballs like a wanker. After a round or two you can predict your opponent's basic strategy and should adjust to punish their most common inputs. in other fighters like BB or GG you can do this if they keep going back to a bread and butter combo (easy to block the same low-low-mid-low-high string in the corner if you've seen it twenty times already). If they rely on throws too much get ready to throw tech, etc.

That doesn't mean you just jump all the time because you become predictable and you'll eat damage. You have to try to pick out when the Guile player will sonic boom by reading his fireball pattern.

I've decided to do a complete refresh on my game. Like, go back to basics, and re-learn my main from the ground up based on what I know now.

so i recently picked up fighting games, trying to learn SFV. i got tired of my thumb feeling raw from the gamepad so i picked up a stick. it's the super cheapo hori off amazon that people are probably familiar with. thing's fucking tiny, nowhere to rest my hands since i don't play on a desk. besides the point though.

the thing i've noticed about this stick is that its range of movement is basically a box. okay, whatever, but it doesn't register down forward or down back until it is literally at maximum travel in the corner. are all sticks like this or is it just my shitty little hori?
