Game is pretty short, and it's like taking a tour around a japanese tourside I'll never visit. The gameplay is Ace Attorney-lite.

Wew lads 3 months real time and 3 days 20 hours game time later and I finally completed fate/stay night. Wall of text with spoilers incoming.

I definitely liked the fate route the most. Why is it always the one I see people calling the worst? I felt it had the best pacing and balanced out the fighting/sol/internal monologue well. The ending also hit me really hard unlike most other VNs for some reason. UBW had a lot of fighting, but went way too heavy with the dreams and monologue bullshit. Hf on the other hand felt twice as long as it should have been. Even with all the character interaction i couldn't come to actually care about sakura at all. I did really like the new characters and plot it had, which I wish ubw would have done even a little.
overall 8/10 for me.


a few questions:

what's the deal with the realta nua ending? I get that it's supposed to be a happy ending for the fate route, but what is going on in this? how are they meeting here in this field?

I'm also kind of confused about something regarding the main routes. So is the great holy grail only actually being destroyed in heaven's feel and not the other routes? If I'm remembering right, they would shut the gate through the holy grail but never actually demolish the great grail. So this means the process would repeat again in the future, right?

Now, knowing everything in f/sn, what order should i watch the animes in? Zero>deen>ubw?

That's the problem, the others are much better since they came out years later after Fate was already popular.

The character designs for the 2006 anime are by all means 5.0 improvements over the VN, the thing is that it has poor animation and several off model shots.

Ufotable's while not having great animation have a lot of special computer effects to cover it making it look much better. The character designs are awful and and the characters have no noses but still it's overall much better visually

Saber was a hugely popular character when the VN released and remains one of the most popular characters in greater "otaku" culture in Japan. She's not quite Rei-tier, but she's above Miku. Even over a decade later, I recently traveled to Akiba and half the merch in any store was Saber (that's an exaggeration, but not much of one).

The point is Saber had and continues to have a lot of fans and they were MAD as fuck after the VN came out that she had no happy end with Shirou. The ending attached in Realta Nua was fanservice to cater to that crowd. It, like the rest of the Fate route, is non-canon.
