Rarely a 3DS game ever goes up to 3 GB or higher. Most retail games sit between 1-2 GB with a good lot of download-only stuff even less.

I'd say 32 GB might be adequate for the most part, but 64 GB will be ideal if you don't intend on deleting much, just remember to format with FAT32 and a SDXC reader because the 3DS doesn't support exFAT.

That O3DS has the legit Four Swords anniversary thing so I guess I could easily do a System Transfer to hack this N3DS with the Four Swords anniversary.

The only issue is that I don't know whats the next time I'll be seeing him, and that obviously I don't want to do anything that will affect his system/saves. The NNID being moved to this N3DS doesn't matter since anyway my cousin doesn't use any of that NNID related stuff, in fact it still has my original NNID and password. But the saves worry me.

If I do a System Transfer, will his saves be lost? All games except the Four Swords thing are from FreeShop, so I know the games won't be transferred over, but I'm worried that the saves will be erased or something.

no, those titles were pulled. the last one was Legends of Exidia, which was pulled 2-3 weeks ago. The "practically all DSiWare titles" only works with the system transfer method. 33c3 may bring another DSiWare title or two for the single-downgrade method, but no one knows for sure.

Saves will be lost, however you can just back them up with JKSM and re-import them. Or just do a NAND backup beforehand, and restore after the transfer.

DS and Wii were the revival, literally printing money and selling ludicrous amounts of consoles, games, it was so profitable that even game devs could put out some shitty shovelware which would still bring in lots of money.

If the saves are lost during System Transfer, does that mean the FreeShop games will also be erased and need to be re downloaded? Or by keeping a SD card backup, and doing the NAND restore (with the tickets and everything), will they be back there? (The O3DS has Luma and A9LH and Hourglass9 so NAND stuff shouldn't be an issue at all I believe).

If I do the NAND backup (easiest way I guess) will the O3DS literally have again the original NNID and Friend Code? Wouldn't that cause anything to go crazy, lets say, two 3DSs with same NNID and Friend Code, if they Street Pass, if both play some game together (for example Pokemon or Mario Kart) or if both get online?

And finally, if that is the case and both 3DSs end up with same FC and NNID (N3DS after transfer, O3DS after NAND restore), if I hack the N3DS to get it running with A9LH and Luma, after its hacked, can I format it afterwards (won't it lose hack if I format system?) so my N3DS gets a new FC the old NNID is disassociated from it again?

Anyway, you cannot use cracked DLC on legit games (or vice versa) because when somebody dumps a game, the path where it looks for DLC gets changed.
Vitamin dumps used ux0:/addcont_plain while Maidump uses ux0:/app/[GameID]/dlc. Legit games read from ux0:addcont.
Since a legit game will try to decrypt the DLC, you cannot put an already decrypted in ux0:addcont (which will happen if you dump the DLC).
So, you will either have to dump all games that you want to use cracked DLCs on or buy all DLCs of games that you own.

If you want to dump your save, just use savemgr.
savedata0: is exclusively for game carts (gro0:/grw0:).

So I have the entire files 9 folder (which includes my NANDmin.bin and NANDmin.bin.sha) I also have the F0F1_New3DS.bin backed up as well as the otp.bin file...

Is there anything else I need to worry about backing up?

If there's no solution I'll just compromise by setting L2 and R2 to Triangle and Square since they're rarely used for menus. It'd be much more fluid if I could make L2 and R2 mirror other buttons, though. Maybe someone will make a homebrew app that removes the restriction on overlapping.
