Right now, not a lot of good options. Best I have found are stormers like Forte or Seabrand. You can also try more control oriented with Olivia/Odin and stall out your opponent. It doesn't really have a win condition right now.

The other possibility to play it like an aggro dragon deck since things like Flame Lizard/Sieg/Flaming Breath/Dragonnewt Scholar works for both. Once you stall out try to alter fate into your discard combos. Consistency is quite poor however.

Oh, the problem isn't due to how fast they deck themselves. That's the easy part.

The tricky part is landing Purgatory in that moment where they have 30 shadows, but haven't decked themselves.

It's an extremely thin window.

Keep in mind Flute is a permanent non-shadow unless your opponent has amulet removal, Purgatory as well.

What does /svg/ think Rune Aggro is gonna look like? It almost seems like there's two possible Rune Aggro decks at this point - one focusing on tokens and burn sorta like Bats does now, and the other going for the new legendary and focusing on getting free followers for oppressive early board presence. It'd be pretty cool if both types made it into the meta, but since it's likely that only one will, which do ya think it'd be?

That anon was in full meme mode, and he probably won most of his games with his Fortes or the Flute anyway.

The major problem with PTP discard dragon is once Rite is on the board you can't get rid of it even when you want to. I've played many a match where I had altered fate and PTP in hand, and could play both and get to 30 shadows, only to realize that I will have to then draw 12 cards and deck myself. The timing of the altered fates are too fickle to control.

I think the build will be very straight forward. You'll run most or all of the spellboost cost reduction followers, their follower enablers, Levi, then removal that gains you momentum like the new spell in your image, Glow and Dance.

The only thing I'm really not sure about is whether or direct damage spells will be worth running and what kind of summoning spells will be worthwhile. I don't think you need snowmen, but Conjure Golem seems solid enough.

It's the most frustrating deck in the game to play against but ultimately I wouldn't call it cancerous, even though I fucking hate it. You can beat it with aggro, you can beat it with control, it's pretty fucking stupid how swingy its draws are but it really doesn't have much of an effect on the meta at large and I wouldn't call it dominant.

DShift and PtP are the other similar decks that're absolutely meta warping.

Every class has shit cards with their mechanic. Elf has a bunch of combo cards nobody knows about, Royal has shitty commanders, Necro has a bunch of bad necromancy cards, etc. The ones that everyone uses are actually pretty strong like Diabolic Drain, Revelations, Righteous Devil, Alucard, etc. The problem isn't with Vengeance but with control decks being bad in general because of PtP and DS.

Dragon being bad is mainly a meme.
It is in a weird spot xpac wise as it's getting some decent stuff for an archetype that has been utter garbage and then a lot of garbo to iffy normal cards. Like disco might be able to pull together all these pieces, like the ability to have positive card draw or good disco early game. If not, this xpac might just be a big steamy dump on dragon.


But right now Dragon's doing fine.
Face Dragon is a very good deck, and Storm Ramp is quite solid as well.

Haven's follower is good but it's actually not that good.
It requires evolves to function as 5pp for 4/5 nothing else is absolute garbage. Sure it's on curve stats, but 5pp for that is just not worth it, ever.

You can't run more than 2 and Haven really, really needs those evo points for cudgels and either board control with elana or maximum face pushing with storm.
5pp 4/5 2AOE is very good. But it's really not that huge a deal.

I'm actually pretty excited for corpse. The biggest thing my Atomy/Sacrifice deck lacks is a 2-drop other than Angels/Widows that synergizes with the rest of the deck, and corpse fills that slot perfectly by both having a good last word and having anti-taunt.

Hasn't been inconsistent in the last 97 games I've run with it. Focusing on trading and drawing goes a long way towards having answers to whatever pops up. Obviously it's not 100% finished as I'd like another Cerb and those RoB cards look pretty nuts, but so far it's doing the trick.

I'm guessing you're upset that Dshift didn't get support, which is totally fair, but let's not pretend that Rune's new cards are bad just because they don't synergize with Dshift. Dorothy, Gazer, and the follower-boosters create an entirely new archetype with solid potential, and Penetrating Rune along with Disaster Witch make Aggro Rune a viable option. Taboos will be super useful for Earth Rite, though probably only in the PtP variant, and while the Erasmus spell isn't all that great, it could end up being at least somewhat useful depending on how things play out.

I do agree with you about Shadow, though - their new cards are very good from what we've seen so far, which is most of them. They're a bit contradictory to current Shadow decks, since things like Cerberus, LotF, etc. don't synergize with Neptits, but again, just because new cards don't fit with old decks doesn't mean they're bad.
