My current deck fires on turn 8 if all goes smoothly, and has a lot of control and direct damage to help that out. However it slows right down if they don't play any followers.

Look for lists running Trail of Light. A lot of recent decks are running it for more consistency and an easier time aiming at turn 7 DShift. Downside is hurting your aggro match ups though, but if you're playing DShift you're probably aiming to snipe match ups in the first place.

Things might look different in the RoB meta but in the current meta, it's very common for 2/X or 3/Xs to sit on board turn 8. Big followers are pretty fairly uncommon, this card puts out either two bodies for control decks to deal with or it takes a swipe at aggro.

If all it does is kill 1 or 2 small followers you might as well just use a spell or something since you're Witch and put out some spellboosted followers. If you're Dragon I don't see any reason to use Grea over Zirnitra or Lucifer if you're putting in 8PP followers.

Good idea to replace Fervid with Lancer actually, gain ward for not very much loss. Not so much a fan of Vanguard and Kunoichi. I could replace them altogether and resolve the issue above. I could also take out a DoD or two but I'd rather not.

I think the board state of "You and your opponent each have one follower on turn 4" is common enough in slower Shadow decks that going face with yours and turning then it into fodder will make this good. I wouldn't even hate drawing it against Forest, answering Ancient Elf is so important when you're going first so they don't hide their Princess Mage behind it.
