There is a Greek trade republic in "Neapolis" (Naples) in the earlier start dates. Playing at one of the later dates isn't that bad though, since you should be the most powerful kingdom/empire in the world within a century or two, unless you are complete. Trebizond in the Trebizond start date in HIP is really fun. Pic related is a game I did a while back, right before I reformed the ERE.

I have been playing a 3 day Stellaris multiplayer game with my girlfriend and we have slowly been taking on the rest of the galaxy trying to build up our territory + fleets to be able to fight the awakened fallen empire.

The unbidden were pretty easy, she got psi jump drives a day before me and I was using hyperlanes. It took fucking for ever for me to get anywhere with hyperlanes.

I decided to build synthetics on all of the new planets the I colonized/conquered because they get a 20% increase to everything and it has propelled by energy credits/minerals/research output past hers.

The leviathans DLC is pretty meh I wouldn't recommend buying it. The creatures you fight aren't anything special and the curators don't provide any benefits worth $10bux - maybe get it on special and don't be a cuck like me.

One thing I hate about /gsg/ is that if you play the games all day and then go out into the real world I feel like I have a +20% autism buff. We went to the supermarket to buy groceries to make dinner and I felt strange. After we finish up this game I'm gonna take a break from gaming for a while.

EU3 is actually better than EU4 in a lot of ways anyway, so you might want to see if you have a preference between the two.

HoI isn't really similar to EU, but you will recognize a lot of Vicky and CK2. Vicky is more "restrictive" in some ways. In CK2 you play as a dynasty rather than as a state, but it's more fun than it sounds.

I think CK2 basically has the framework necessary for the "great" game you want. Other than a few conspicuous omissions, it's mostly just small tweaks that you would need to worry about.

If you want to get really into it it was the way EU3, was released in and of itself.

So, they made EU2 and it had loads of historical events and nice scdipted stuff, what today's casual paradrone would call "railroading", so they decided to make EU3, a bit more "sandbox". What did this entail? Completely abandoning any notion of history, instead adding terrible mechanics that didn't work, like Bohemia having a pacific coastline and eveey Italian minor and Brittany colonising. The game was hated by the old fans who thought paradox had sold out their history sims to the game market.

Then CK2 was made, with a flashy map and a new DLC model. This was a huge hit, even moreso than EU3, it was at this point they realised a few nerds wanting history were a secondaey priority, if at all, the big bucks was with pandering to casual gamers who didn't care for history or strategy.

EU4, and the massive success it had amongst the "youtube generation" was the final nail in the coffin, it was loved by people who unironically couldn't find fault with the three mana pool system.

/gsg/, for the longest time, was the bulwark against these policies. But lately EU4 faggots are posting their cancerous blobs here so it's looking like even we're dying out. After this the only choice left for the few autists who remain are assimilate and buy this highschool tier trash or move onto stuff like gary grisby or matrix games.

I'm having a pretty good Austria run here lads. My goals after preventing the Shadow Kingdom is to, obviously, protect the HRE against Francoblob (which is easier now because of BI) and to expel Kebab whilst expanding into the Balkans.

I'm undecided on how to deal with Poland-Lithuania. Muscovy is coming along quite well so I'm hoping the 2 will keep each other in check along with the Ottomans but I'm hoping to avoid having to fight off the Polish if they try expanding into the Empire as I don't want to be spread across 3 potential fronts.

However, I'm quite confident about my Western front as France isn't doing as well as they usually do. They lost a war with Aragon when Burgundy and England declared. England still has its holdings and now with BI they will have less room to expand East into the empire, gobbling up small states. A good war or two could hopefully smash them apart quite badly.

It's the eternal kebab I'm worried most about. Serbia and Bosnia are poised to be kebab'd.

I didn't get lucky with PUs in my Austria game, but I did manage to hold onto Italy.

After I took out Venice I started intervening in wars to blob down towards the Papal States. I took Romagna from Ferrara and then Vassalized the Pope, which was enough for the "Reign in Northern Italy" decision. Later I integrated the Papal States and released Rome by itself to avoid angry catholics.

Bohemia starts with interregnum. I RM'd them and hey put a Habsburg on the throne. I then immediately claimed their throne and declared war on them to bring them into a personal union.

After that I declared on Venice, assisted by Milan with the promise of land (give them Brescia as they have a core on it and helps manage your AE). I took 3 provinces. Forget their names. Ignore istria and Dalmatia they are unnecessary.

After that came Hungary. Can't remember the exact timeline but between 1450-1457 if Hungary ruler does without an heir Austria gets a mission to enforce a personal union which happened for me while at war with a burgundy. I won that war.

After I declared on papal state. Realeased Urbino, vassalised them and gave them all the territories I captured. Only Roma and 1 Venice province remain.

Bare in mind I got quite lucky with all this. And the timing / alliances with the shadow kingdom wars were all very fortunate
