Terrain's a bit fuckered in the area close to the Nuka World Transit Center; things popping in and out, they'll still have their collision on even when they're invisible. The Nuka building also doesn't seem to have a distant lod mesh so it only pops up when you get close enough.

How fix?

It's not by any means a bad game. It's a solid enough shooter with an above average open world to play in. It has amazing moddability (in comparison to most AAA games). The problem people have with it, is that it's not a great RPG and Fallout game. If you're not a die-hard fallout fan or looking for an in depth RPG, then absolutely pick it up. I can't tell you if it's worth $30 to you because I'm not you.

If you want to use pistols or rifles in a sneak run you are probably better off not using VATS.
I use melee mostly since ammunition is sparse. But I do have a silenced pistol and a loud hunting rifle. I generally just sneak past everything and only kill what's really in my way.

Gotta play into the fantasy of a badass in power armour, and I completely agree that small weapons just don't fit that at all. Hell, even the "lone mercenary" fantasy of just some heavy combat armour with an LMG, and maybe a grenade launcher is fun, too.

Unless you uninstalled the mod and it's trying to spawn a weapon that doesn't exist on someone, I don't think it could cause a crash.

Hey guys, so I dun goofed.

My textures are all wonky and I can't for the life of me figure out whats wrong, it's guaranteed my own doing since I modded the fuck out of it and now I get this weird bug where the textures are all of (i.e eyeballs for walls, purple and pink colors everywhere)

It doesn't start like this off the bat and it'll run smoothly for a while but it always happens eventually and I have to turn the game of and start it up again to make it go away.

I was wondering if anyone on here has had to deal with this and if they found a fix

I think I'm using the first or second preset and CTDs aren't common. I'm running WotC, True Storms, various texture mods, and Vogue ENB on a 970 with 16 RAM. Sometimes I crash when loading a cell, but it's quite rare, so it's fairly stable for the most part. The third preset and above, though, you start running the risk of more frequent CTDs.

Alright. I haven't fucked with the settings or had any crashes from it. I have a fairly beefy machine though.

The game is much harder, especially with a mod that increases damage taken and given. It was pretty spectacular breaking into Corvega and seeing a crossfire between Institute, Raiders, and Ghouls in Lexington. Urban areas are never quiet and are basically warzones. Nuclear flashes are a lot more common because of Suiciders and cars getting shot up.

I personally love it, but the wanton havoc is really a matter of opinion.

Initially I had it set to the third or fourth preset. Upon starting the game and leaving Vault 111, I was getting swarmed by enemies. First start I got swarmed by two dozen ghouls and two Glowing Ones, second time by two dozen rabid dogs plus some Mole Rats with mines and Super Mutants. It was pretty hilarious and fun, had pic related happen after a Mutant Hound snuck up on me while I was shooting a Super Mutant.

Use NMM. Watch Gopher's tutorials. They're a little longwinded, so watch at 2x and review if you don't get something.

Most modern weapons have compatible level lists now. Be careful with overloading on textures because that can cause CTDs, same goes for using massive overhauls. Look up how to use LOOT (it's simple) and ENBoost (with or without a preset since ENBoost itself is good).

If you have questions about something, just ask. Make sure you look for requirements (frameworks, compatibility patches, DLC, etc.) and nuances in their main posts.

I thought the gun runners didn't carry them, per their agreement with the now ruined Van Graffs. There may be ways to get him to sell EC, but I don't think he carries it naturally. Going through the wiki, I can't find an obvious way to find who carries EC and MF ammo.

Doesn't really matter though. I excited to realize I could go to the brotherhood after I burnt the Van Graffs only to be disappointed because "Fuck you, no choice". I was worried about nothing since I looted the corpses on my way out of the bunker and the final missions are so close to that point.

Question. I've added some extra weapons, such as the M14 and AK to my game.
While I have found them as drops, and they work great, I'm unable to Mod or Scrap any of the added weapons.

because it makes the game actually fun. not just a game were you do boring thing X, fast travel to do the next boring thing X, and then fast travel and blow up the institute. as long as your gun play is modded into being decent, just walking from 1 end of the map to another is funner than doing any of the story line. and there's like endless settings to the mod, anything better than a toaster should be able to run low spawn rate, and just that is a huge improvment. on a decent rig medium is fun, but not overwhelming. setting it higher than that is a game crashing meme though.

WotC might essentially be a 'dead' mod now, but all its missing is nukaworld, making that dlc super empty and boring. though that wastland and parks being covered with spawns wouldn't make that much sense anyway.

They do give you a brief overview of why they are making synths in dialogue.

But why would they go into tons of detail about it?

If you go to a company building and ask the front desk bitch for the history of the company, all she will do is give you a VERY brief summary of the company history, and then would tell you to read the pamphlet or look at the computer on the info kiosk, to get more detail.

Mankind invented things like books so we wouldn't have to constantly verbally restate long history and goals over and over again.

Making NPCs constantly state those things just creates bizarre situations like those in New Vegas, or Pillars of Eternity, where your character asks things about the world they should logically know, but then NPCs seem perfectly fine with just splerging a long ass explanation of it like that is normal.

Its like setting a game in modern day America and allowing your PC to ask an NPC what a car is, and then have the NPCs explain what a car is like that is normal. Instead of having the NPc look at you funny and tell you to go read a book(like what would actually happen)

Most RPGs have grown up beyond that kind of 4th wall breaking, encyclopedia entry reading, form of narrative.

Those things are in things like terminals, notes, books, emails(if your a game like Deus Ex), or Codex entries(Bioware games) because that is where they should be.

You shouldn't have NPCs splerging large parts of their master plan at you or w/e, because that isn't how people talk.

And my only problem with the workshop DLC was that they were sold separately, instead of as one 15 dollar workshop DLC similar to Hearthfire. Technically yes. The FO4 CK has a feature where you can build a "Static collection" by selecting a lot of mesh pieces in a cell and pressing Alt + O. It will then generate a custom nif based on it that you can use for stuff.

That mesh is a lot of different machinery parts that I combined into something. I want to also make the Radiation collector also able to heal your radiation when you're near it, but I'd have to make it require wasteland workshop DLC as a prerequisite for it to do that....probably.

Cool thing about static collections is that certain ones can be recolored with the color slider, I think the default (yellow) works pretty good for a machine that absorbs rads in the area and converts it into useful nuclear materials and acid.

I'm not super familiar with how your scripting is set up here, but you might have the delay ask a global how long to wait between iterations. That way, if you need to test it you could set it to like 10s or something. Combine that with a Rad Storm weather change shell in-game and you should be where you need it at.

That's a good way to get things working - it helped me a lot to figure out how contraptions operate.

You might not need something as heavy-duty as that script though. It references the workshop data to determine the resources cap, which may not necessarily be what you want. Maybe take a look at the script that adds chems to the Pick-Me-Up stations in NW instead?

But Bethesda has made it clear with both Fallout 3 and 4 that they want to follow in the footsteps of Fallout 1/2, and not NV, and make Fallout games that are personal experiences where the player is given the task of saving close friends/family members, and because so much of your existence is pre-set, having a VA is easily doable, since they don't have to account for a large range of personality types.

You have to edit a script in workshopparent and add it to the list of FOOD items. So that doesn't make much sense but that's how you're supposed to make it work.

1. The Vault Tec guy says you already filled out paper work in the past, hes just going around doing a survey. This is not the first time you are filling out paper work to get into the Vault.

2. The PC has heard about it, he never says or implies that he hasn't. He asks to be reminded because its an RPG, and RPGs constantly allow you to ask NPCs really basic questions about the game/world so the player can be informed.

3. You hear it twice in the intro.

4. Conrad didn't mean to shoot Nora, it was an accident. They even tell you this later in the game

5. As they outright tell you, they kept you alive because they needed you as a backup to harvest DNA from in case Shaun died before they could complete the synth project. Fuck, Kellogg even calls you "the backup" in the intro.

6. Sanctuary is out in the middle of nowhere, and there are far better places to loot.

7. Because the scientists in the Vault made the cryo gun in his spare time using extra resources they had there, as is explained on the terminal.

8. They turned skills into perks because the 1-100 skill system of Fo3 and NV blew, and most skill points didn't mean shit. Turning it into perks was a side grade that more properly reflected how the skill system worked anyways.

SPECIAL is objectively more useful then in Fo3 and NV because, unlike Fo3 and NV, you actually need high SPECIAL to do shit. in Fo3/NV, you could have 1 charisma, but pass every speech check with 100 speech skill, and have 1 int, but still have 100 in repair and science and be a master of everything. This is not true in Fo4 where you actually need high SPECIAL to do things.

5. The Institute didn't need 210 years to find a cure for FEV. They had FEV for only 100 years, and no one ever tried to find a cure for it at any point. Again, much like the Curie bit, you are claiming they lost in a competition they never tried to enter.

Also, the ZAX FEV cure needs the targets original unmutated DNA, the Institute's cure did it, making it far more effective

Boston in fallout 4 feels like a fucking city, like god damn all of the connecting highways those big ass skyscapers where raiders would hole up on the roof tops and you can snipe them from another rooftop or even a highway, shit was fun. The physical character creation was actually pretty neat, I prefer sliders myself but you could make all sorts of characters with that thing, and the gunplay was also improved by a whole lot. That's my main problem, bethdesa focused too much on the action and not about making this a compelling RPG, and it makes me mad because I fucking know they can, they made Morrowind so there's no excuse when the writing department has been this bad for the past few games. So here's to Fallout 5 and ES:VI, I hope they're good.

But Morrowind was easily a god-awful RPG.

I need help with getting into Fallout 1. I always thought getting into old gmaes is not a problem to me. SInce I occasionally enjoy games like might and magic 6 or Populous the beginning.
Yesterday I tried Fallout 1 and couldn't play past 30 minutes. The Controls are so old and convoluted, it feels like the game takes more time than it needs to get something across. And I have very limited time nowadays to play games and don't want to waste it.

You gotta pick and choose which settlements you think are worth developing and which aren't. Some spots are just dogshit and not worth developing at all, some may never be more than comfy single family farms, while others have the potential to be nice little villages.

it's really easy actually, just look for the ones that have good building potential. For example abernathy farm and starlight drive in have lots of relatively level open space ideal for building little villages, some places like sunshine tidings or covenant even come with serviceable houses that require only a little extra work to get in order. It will be pretty obvious which places have potential and which don't. Bad settlements typically have some combination of small build areas, unsuitable terrain, or unusable structures that take up too much space. For example, hangman's alley is a tiny dump filled with a bunch of ugly crap you can't get rid of making it largely unsuitable for development. However, even crap settlements can be re-purposed by attracting a bunch of settlers and making them provisioners or filling them with artillery and turning them into firebases.

It's up to you I suppose. I don't give a shit about achievements and since I'm using mods I can't get them anyway. The artillery is most effective when their standing there like idiots investigating the smoke instead of running around shooting you. A good barrage can really soften up an unsuspecting enemy camp.
