Question for xedit experts:

Weaponsmith Extended dmg values on some ammo types are way too high. Can I just lower the relevant AMMO values, or would I need to go through each and every weapon and edit those too? How does the game calculate the total base damage of a certain weapon, anyway?

Even when I get the outfit I want to edit loaded, it looks nothing like it does in the BodySlide preview.

When Bethesda announced the "genius" move that console versions of Fallout 4 would had mods, it created a wave of entitlemant amongst console players. They started demanding some of the more popular mod makers to stop being "elitist" and release their mods for console. When they pointed out it's literally impossible because of console limitations, console players started taking their stuff, tweaking them then releasing them on their own accounts saying "hey it isn't stealing when they were being elitist jerks :^)"

A load of modders on the PC just couldn't be bothered dealing with these children so they jumped ship or in same cases, took down all of their mods.

Fallout 4 has, ine one year, gained 1000+ more mods, and 30 mil+ more mod downloads compared to 8 years of Fallout 3.

The if there is anything that made Fallout 4's modding community seem slower, its that Bethesda did most of the major mods from Fo3/NV themselves as offical DLC

-Settlement building is Real Time Settler + Feng shuI, and covers most home base mods.
-PA was greatly improved like many PA mods.
-The weapon modding system is basically an expanded version of WMX.
-Companions and factions were, in general, far better, meaning people are less interested in making mods for that.
-Automatron covered Robco Certifited.
-Wasteland Workshop had concrete buildings, traps, planters, arenas, and tameable animals.
-Contraptions allowed you to build weapons/armor/ammo/clothes/food, and gave us weapon/armor racks.
-Vault-Tec workshop added buildable vaults, companion tracking, clean versions of many settlement items, facial reconstruction, and SPECIAL boost items.
-Nuka World gave us settlement raiding/raider stuff.

I like the way you designed it to integrate into the body, but the idea of having a bipod on small weapon firing lower power ammunition just seems silly.

The shorter variants near the top with folding stocks lack space for internal components or ejection ports, assuming it's still bullpup like a P90. And even if it's caseless there still needs to be a way to clear the chamber in the event of a jam or just to properly unload the weapon for storage.

Your main grip ergonomics seem a bit too forward and straight, but I realize that may be because of the animation limitations.

There's a small problem with the P90, and P90 style weapons, and increasing the caliber. Essentially, the width of the weapon system is dependent on the length of its cartridge, so making that larger means the weapon has to be wider or you get this weird flying saucer magazine that wouldn't fit the carry handle / sights / rail mount.

Looking at a video of the missile launcher, it really looks like the missile launcher's reload animations wouldn't work for a P90 style weapon unless it was /much/ larger than a P90 and have sights off set like the missile launcher's scope, unless you do something crazy like integrating the sights onto the magazine.

You had a crazy idea using the missile launcher animations for a Fallout-P90, but I just don't see it working.

The problem with that is the P90 is such a small weapon, having side mounted or offset sights would be a bit... awkward.

You would probably have to deviate fairly far from the style of a P90 to make it work. If I could make a suggestion, look at the Lahti L-39. It's a much larger weapon system but it's a top loading weapon like the P90 and has offset sights that would work with the Missile Launcher animations.

Alternatively, you could go for a rather alien or super futuristic design. The Covenant Carbine from Halo is also a top loader and energy based, combining an alien looking scope eye piece with a battery slot might work.

I'm a product designer, and that's some nice sketching you got there. I can see it as a ballistic, Institute type weapon, since they only have energy ones. I'm not a great fan of the P90, but that front handle, man I really like it! Compared to that lame hole in the originale rifle, it's an interesting variation.
The compact one is my fav, I don't think it's work with a scope, as a sniper rifle, since the little caliber.

I just don't want to see hours of loading screens and unbearable slowdowns in certain areas.
Skyrim was very smart with caching and keeping previously visited rooms in the memory. I wish more games would do that because that was an absolute blast of optimization.

Yes but Skyrim wasn't very heavy on the graphic side, compared to games like Bioshock Infinite say, which is another medium/high quality game, graphics wise, and I run it all maxed out at 2560x1440 at a steady 60fps. Bethesda's games are very, very heavy because of the scrpting, all the loading "gimmicks" like you said before, it's a very complex way of working.
Maybe we played different games, yes it was less buggy, but I will never forget that day I first launched and the cart got stuck into Helgen's gate. Like WHAT.THE.FUCK.

Most of them are armor, weapons, power amors, outfit and clothes, because I want variety and the vanilla game looks so very...bland.
And then I also have a ton of settlements mods, so if you're into that, that's a HUUUUGE number of stuff you can download, from OCdecorator, Dino's decorations, SSEX, etc.
Then there are the texture optimizers, replacers and the crafting mods (I rpg as a sort of "mechanist/tinkerer" so lots of robots mods)
Then: companions mods, factions mods, perks mods.
Add to that being completely unable to merge .esp files and there you are. My loading screens vary from 2 to 5 mins.
Can we stop talking about Skyrim because man compared to FO that game with mods was a total blast. I had the time of my life ;_;

Whats funny is that I actually liked Skyrim out of all of Beth's previous games, and still got more enjoyment out of Fallout 4.

My main problem with mods is that I am a massive stickler

-I end up hating most weapon/armor mods because they either looks too modern, too tacticool, or just plain not fitting

-Most perk mods are unbalanced trash, even compared to the already unbalanced vanilla game.

-Companion and faction mods usually end up ruining everything that made the companions/factions good in favor of MOAR SPAM!

-Most crafting mods are usually unnecessarily obtuse in their design, and I can already craft most everything from the vanilla game with contraptions DLC.

But thats the same thing I had with Skyrim.

outside of like SkyUI, the unofficial patches, and a few texture replacers, I had like no mods for skyrim either.

Outside of a few quest mods I played once or twice then removed and reloaded an earlier save.

I mean, even the radiant quests in FO4...most of the time is just, you know...killing people. The only interesting stuff is when you find journals, logs, and learn a little more about the lore and the War, but..other than that, there's little space to roleplaying.

Skyrim, on the other hand...and I mena, we're praising Skyrim like it was the greatest RPG ever compared to FO4

Sorry to hear you don't like Ordinator but I found it to be the best overhaul at making the game fun without being OP like in vanilla. The magic tree reworks were great and made playing a spellcaster incredibly fun. Especially with Apocalypse spell pack installed.

When I first said I was going to make a heavy plasma weapon similar to the Plasma caster, one of the replies I got was basically pic related, because Plasma Casters were supposedly precursors to Plasma rifles. I quit playing FO4 for similar reasons (around the time I got to build the teleporter, never actually seen the institute yet) when it first launched but I'm getting ready to try again with a bunch of mods. I'm using Horizon as the main overhaul which should hopefully keep survival mode challenging to the point of me not being overpowered. Also i'm not going to be a stealth archer because that is never ever balanced. It might be the smartest way to survive realistically, but its boring to play.

Yeah, I had the same problem. Especially, playing with mods, you can really get overpowered too quickly. When changing the difficulty setting is not enough, I try to "limit myself", especially playing RPGs.
Games with potentially hours of gameplay must be played at the right pace, building your character accordingly is fundamental. Say, for example I find it boring how I'm a level 32 and I have like 6 PA already, and I just rescued Nick from Skinny Malone.
So, for example I started using the basic vault suit with leather clothes, then used various metal armor pieces with gunners dresses; then, I upgraded Sanctuary, so my character could have all the machinery to build new weapons and stuff. It's not like you pop things out of a cylinder, you know, and these kind of RPG games let you hop on the autism train and CHOO CHOO next stop is roleplay land.

Fallout 4 isn't even the best example. Have you played TW3? All the loot was absolute crap, and like at the end of a quest where you're supposed to help the best swordsmaker in the world you get this CHEAP ASS shitty -2 weapon I mean what the FUCK.

If I had to throw out a random guess I would say the armor mesh was doubled somehow and one of them is linked to the proper bones and animates with them while the other stays neutral.

Whatever the external leg armor is would be the problem since your boots and skeleton costume aren't present in the neutral pose.

This games makes me feel so...disappointed and guilty, especially towards Raider. Taht's why I think, after the main quest, I'll start Nuka Cola siding with the Raiders.
St. Andrews' station, a whole family of Raiders, who patiently took their time to protect the way in from ferals with mines, installed turret lights, all wiped down the floor. Hell, the killable children and raider orphans (Yeah, that's why I have so many active mods: fuck kids) made it even worse

the closest you can get is poisoning the water and blowing up the citadel in broken steel. they don't even give you a cure so you don't die from drinking it, which it will if you poison it.

Just don't get Weaponsmith Extended and download the weapon mods that you want. At most, you may have to get a compatibility patch with AWKCR.

As far as leveled lists go, it depends on the mod maker and whether they do it using a script or not. I know the ones I downloaded all seemed to inject it properly so it wasn't an issue.

There aren't in public domain though. He's covered songs that are in the domain, but because it's Elvis, who is still making huge record sales even now, it will most likely never end up as a free usage song.

Best way to work around is to take the FNV approach.

Honestly we've reached the point where towns and civilians seem fairly well off in population centers and everything is pretty affiable, it's just the death world apocalypse stuff is mostly everywhere else (or at least very specific locations).

Even with Deathclaws and Mirelurks and shit out there, we've hit the point where the only ways we can switch it up are to go to places even more rundown and fucked up (something DLCs tend to do), or go to new locales that are less fucked up by the war specifically and moreso internally. Biggest problem is civil war, raiders, and lack of unity. If groups like The Brotherhood, NCR, and Enclave remnants could get their shit together and cooperate to some extent for proper unity and wiping out the shitty pockets society would stand a better chance. Things are sort of headed back into the wild west territory. All you need is more reliable food and water so people don't die from illness and starvation so easy and the average joe can become lazy and fall into regular jobs. People are starting to create music again so that's a good sign.

Civilization outside the NCR is nonexistent, because the NCR is built on the hard work of two protags, and like 4 GECKs.

the East Coast is a underdevloped shithole, that only manages to have some long distance trade orutes between the major "wastelands"

And the American southwest is even less developed, with the American north being even LESS developed then the southwest.

The only place that could possibly have something resembling civilization is the Midwest, but the MwBoS seems to have largely collapsed between the end of Tactics and the current Fallout games, so its unlikely to be there either.

Unless there is some massive "New Southern Empire" or something, the east coast is seemingly the most developed place outside the NCR

in reality they'd either loose members to other fractions or learn to get along or risk dying out. enclave remnants leak into other fractions all the time, and it'll happen the other way around too. I've personally found, through sheer accident, that one of the most devastating automatic weapons is a Never-ending gamma gun with Lorenzo's Artifact dish swapped onto it and a signal repeater.

You might have a difficult time getting a Never-ending gamma gun to drop though so I suggest just spawning the affix onto a regular one via the console if you want to test this out for yourself.

I've tried a lot of ENB presets in FNV and some other games. It's never worth it.
Looks good for screenshots but that's about it. Playing with one on has always been awful for me. Either the performance takes to big of a hit or the game looks like it's been smeared over with wax once you get moving.

It's also made by a Russian closeted homosexual that doesn't even like fallout.

It's better to just get high res textures. Or use reshade/sweetfx without ENB.

It happens pretty much the same as with most other records.

If 2 mods modify the same record, only the changes of the mod lower in your loadorder will be active, unless some kind of merged patch is used, that combines those changes from both mods.

However, some mods use scripting to add their items to the leveled lists ie. Those are generally compatile with each other, unless some other mod removes these leveled lists or changes which leveled lists are used by the npcs. The problem is though a mod currently cannot remove only its own changes from leveled lists, without also removing all other scripted additions to the same list from other mods.

So, thanks to outside sources (and one anon pointing out Junkmaster eventually did get a PC release) I now have the AntAgonizer and Nightingale outfits for FO4.

Now I just need to think up ways to give them cameos (as I am trying to loosely tie my capeshit games together) without stepping on the toes of the FO4 narrative. Maybe have the two meet and fight, and the Shroud discover the aftermath?

The Nightingale gives me an excuse to play Skyrim SE through properly, and could feasibly be a cross-dimension hero, and fill the supernatural quota all /co/ usually has. Be the Mistress of Mystery to the FO4 Unstoppables.

I would, but he is already something of a natural joining element already. I'm basically treating him as a hero with the power to teleport who helps people destined to be heroes find their feet, and then just observes. Hell, this is the first run I've ever actually used his perk for.

Not a bad idea, sadly In FO3 and NV I'll be playing the 'second' AntAgonizer, a hero enhanced by Leskos ant Bioenhancers.

I'm planning to end FO4 with the opening of a battle between the Boston Unstoppables and Cabbot and an enthralled group of raiders, maybe one of the groups the Shroud kills in Nuka-World. I could just have them turn up during that, and start punching bad guys. It would be a rather wasteful use of their presences, but the big picture is that FO4 is about the Silver Shroud in this context.

I suppose I could concoct a side story where the AntAgonizer and Nightingale have a typical hero misunderstanding and duke it out.

Is it that dire? I haven't actually tried yet. My thinking was that playing as the more-or-less established and intended Nate, and going all aggressive as Shroud, might create a coherent character.

Fallout 3 gives you the tools and such to play a convincing-ish AntAgonizer, with super power origins and the whole Superhuman Gambit quest, but there is nothing like 'Speak as Shroud' and making the legend real.

Does anyone else experience massive frame-rate drops during Survival mode? It's the weirdest thing. Whenever I get a debuff from not sleeping/eating/drinking, or reverse the debuff by sleeping/eating/drinking, I get frame drops into less than 1 fps, lasting for 5-10 seconds. This worsens and happens more frequently the longer I play on a given save. At level 1 it never happens. At level 25 it starts being noticeable, and by 60 I have to turn off the needs because of how often it gets me killed. Anybody else?

Also, you really should have been able to kick back and relax, letting the Minutemen take care of some of the quests considering you're the fucking General.

You seem to misunderstand what the Minutemen are.

The Minutemen are not a formal army, they do not have quartermasters, or shit like that.

The Minutemen are exactly that, Minutemen, average farmers who use just whatever they have to help defend other settlements if needed.

The Minutemen aren't the army, the title of General is just, a title.

All Minutemen groups operate on their own.

They even bring this up during the Institute questline, some Minutemen will try to stop The Institute(you) from kidnapping a scientist, and if you try to pull rank on them, they just tell you that this isn't the army, and they don't have to listen to you just because you are the general.

Also, Minutemen are going out there and fighting shit, that's why you can encounter groups of them as part of random encounters fighting everything from robots to Gunners.

Item decay is a bad mechanic because it simply doesn't matter.

In Fallout 3 and NV, you had to be literally brain dead to not have your weapon/armor fully, or near fully, repaired at all times, since the game threw caps at you, and merchants were in every town.

Not to mention the inclusion of weapon repair kits, and the jurry rig perk, make repair even less of an issue then it already was.

Item decay doesn't make the game harder, it doesn't put you in a tough spot, it doesn't even really make you DO much of anything besides spend 50 seconds going to the nearby town and getting your shit fixed.

Not to mention with the addition of settlements, and settlement merchants, the number of nearby mechanics would grow beyond even Fallout 3/NV, making it even less of an issue.

Like, stimpacks healing over time has more of an actual effect on the game then item decay does.

Open Outfit Studio
File > Load Project
Open the <Outfit name> .osp from Fallout 4\Data\Tools\BodySlide\SliderSets
Go to Slider > Load Preset and select your preset of choice
Now click one of the "Pencil" icons in the "De-/Select Sliders" menu on the bottom right, preferably on a Slider your Slider Preset has a 100 on because it defaults to 100 when you click it and can affect how the outfit sits on your preset. Alternatively, pick one of the presets that doesn't have much change, like BreastCenter or BreastCenterBig (I think.)

Now you can make your changes. If you want to preserve the original, rename the Display Name, Output Data Path, Slider Set File, Shape Data Folder, and Shape Data File in the "Save Project As..." dialog, the only one you don't change is Output File Name. This way if you Batch Build your BodySlides, it will offer you the original or your edit.

Take this with a grain of salt, I've only barely started doing this and this kinda-sorta works for me and have no idea if this is the actual right way.

Just go to the first part of the Minute men quest, where you see preston in the tower, than head back to sanctuary and you won't have to deal with them.

Alternativly, there's a mod that stops preston from bugging you as often unless it's to find a new settlement. Also, an additional mod which slowly causes the minute men to get more powerful items over time as more trade routes open up. You can find both these mods in the companion tab of the nexus.

I think Bethesda stabbed FO4 in the back with the Newrim thing, since both game share pretty much the same community, and lots of modders are switching back to SSE instead of "focusing" of FO4. It's like when you got a new toy.

I agree that FO lore and setting tend to bit a little bit of boring, and that FO4 isn't a great game by itself. But do you guys think the modders' community will eventually go on like it did with Skyrim? I mean, let's say it, mods are what makes games like Skyrim and Fallout enjoyable.

I wouldn't say they have the same playerbase, but it does work in a one direction fashion, where FO fans also enjoy ES, but not the other way around. Otherwise we'd get a lot more modders in FO from ES, but it's traditionally been that all FE games get more mods and dedication than the FO series (3, NV, and 4). FO4's modding community isn't going to last 5 years or whatever like Skyrim's did, they were already struggling before SSE, which was more of another nail.

Well I'm a massive casual, I enjoyed games like STALKER before so I'm inot FPS-RPG like games, but I admit I only played TES games before hitting FO4.

It seems easier to make mods for games like TES because a fantasy setting holds so much potential, while the FO universe is pretty unique.

In Skyrim we have TONS of the witcher mods. Hell, even I imported one of them and uploade don the nexus.
I can't think of any other post-apocalyptic game to "steal" models from.

I have an idea for a new settlement object I want to make. Similar to the Fog Condensers in Far Harbor:

Radiation Collector

Heavy water will have many uses

I'm making this because I have an idea for my plasma caster, but you'll require asstons of nuclear material to make the ammo. These machines won't be cheap to make either, they'll require science rank 4 and nuclear physicist rank 4, etc. Maybe more. And the actual materials will require a buttload of lead. Maybe 100 lead apiece. This would be to prevent low level characters from exploiting it, but high level characters could build fields of them to give them loads of nuclear materials.

The 1-100 skill system only meant that your gains were so low you could dump 20+ points into a stat before actually seeing any real difference in things like weapon damage.

Likewise, when it came to things like lockpicking and hacking, only ranks 25/50/75/100 actually mattered, since those were the ranks that unlocked higher level lock/terminals.

By changing the 1-100 skills system into a 5 ranked perk, where each perk does what 20 levels of the skill did, all BEthesda has done is make the game more properly reflect how it was in the first place.

the hacking/lockpicking skills which only mattered at ranks 25/50/75/100, was changed into a 5 rank perk were each rank become 25/50/75/100, and the first rank became a bonus power.

And ranks 20/40/60/80/100 of skills like weapon skills were changed into one of the ranks of the 5 ranked weapon perks in Fallout 4.

Not onlt that, but in Fallout 3/NV every 20 points in a weapon skill gave you +15% damage, but every perk rank in Fallout 4 gives you +20% damage.

You objectivly get more out of the 5 ranked perk in Fallout 4 then you did the 1-100 skill system in Fallout 3/NV

And you get it without wasting your points on tons of skill "upgrades" that didn't actually make your character better because skills only really mattered at certain thresholds.

Its literally the same system just in a less shit format.

Changing it also allowed them tto fix one of fo3/NV's biggest flaws, in that you could have 1 INT, but still have 100 science/repair, and 1 charisma, but still have 100 speech, which made SPECIAL worthless in Fo3/NV, and worth far more in Fo4 since you now actually NEED high SPECIAL stats to be good at things.

However, one of the greatest things about the skill system was that you didn't have to dedicate precious perk points to increase your effectiveness with weapons/healing/etc, leaving you free to spend your points on DT/DR, reduced limb damage, and other effects that you couldn't replicate via skills.

ENB doesn't need to be developed with Fallout in mind. What it does is shader replacement and injection. If you think of the game as a set from a film, ENB is a replacement for the camera filming it. Some retards will smear their lenses in vaseline, but that's just because it's easy to fuck up when you have so much control.

In NV you had awful shading and awful processing, so going on about how it still looks like shit with ENB isn't wrong. Fallout 4 at least already provides semi-decent lighting and shading. Most of that is ruined by the game's original post processing, which is why ENB is useful. Sure, you can use Reshade instead, but it's just Photoshop filters - it can't fix the details the game has already fucked.

Hmm, I got it in-game but it doesn't seem to be producing heavy water like it should be.

Darn, this is going to take a lot of testing. It wasn't as cut-and-dried in the CK as I was hoping. But...at least the junk item works, now to actually make these machines function.
