Well in that case - I used Wildcat for my last few non-SE play-throughs and it's pretty much just a slightly less refined Smilodon.

It works great and is pretty lightweight itself. The limb damage an injury system isn't COMPLETELY to my taste - but your mileage may vary.

Use MO + wrye bash. They're both useful for different things. The guide explains it better, but MO is great for making multiple mod profiles, editing inis without fucking up your game, etc. while wrye bash is for making bashed patches so your mods don't conflict. You can use just one or the other, or neither, but for extensive modding you'll probably want to use both.

Any decent mod that makes wildlife more, deadly? Seems RoTE doesnt really beef up Trolls and Bears, and its kinda sad im able to two shot them. While a near naked Khajiit on skooma gives me a longer fight.

Well if you're sticking to that tool my recommendations are as such (assuming you're not running a complete toaster PC).

1: Bump up "Exterior Draw Distance" to a point where you're not bothered by shadows disappearing completely. The docks near Solitute is a good place to test this because the cliff will be all shadowed up until a jarring line somewhere in the distance where everything is bright because the shadow isn't rendering.

2: Bump up "Detailed Draw Distance" until you're not being annoying by the sharp shadows popping-in as you move around. Just move around and keep an eye on where the LOD is until it doesn't bother you SO much.

3: Bump up Shadow Resolution in increments until the detailed shadows near your character become bare-able. If you've pushed out your shadow distances chances are your shadows have gone a little muddy with the default resolution.

Do this all while balancing performance of course. Long shadow distance combined with VERY high resolutions can tank performance for some set-ups, but just test for yourself.

If the LOD still looks dodgy after all this, look up an .ini setting called "fFirstSliceDistance" and start playing around with that as it has some baring over the appearance of the shadow detail LOD as well.

ENB will eventually solve the AO situation as it always does - though I am looking forward to seeing if the performance cost is as high as it was in Vanilla Skyrim.

Also on the topic of Shadows - though they're an improvement over the regular Skyrim SE shadows are still pretty awful by most standards these days.

Remember that most people (after tweaks of course) obscure the kind of jarring LOD with DoF of some kind and just pretend that the blurry shadows in the distance are blurry for a reason.

Even the shadows in Fallout 4 weren't that great, and came as a huge performance hit if you had their draw distance on anything past Medium, it was insane.

I'm hoping, really hoping that ENB will solve the AO issue without a huge performance cost.

I know when I was on Oldrim using NLA+ENB's, my frames would drop 10-20 or so.

Exactly. It's good that SE picked up some of the extra Shadow settings that FO4 used though, because it allows us to "make do" with the shitty Shadow system a lot better.

I always say just make your shadows as far-reaching sharp as your performance will allow then blur out the distant ones with your favorite flavor of DoF. Extra brownie points if you can match the shadow LOD to some of your other detail LODs so you can pretend everything is just blurring in the distance.

Like the other anon mentioned, if you're hankering after Wyrebash because of the patches then you may want to hold off.

If you're just looking for a mod manager of some sort then NMM - while shit, can suffice.

You can fiddle around with MO2 to make it work with SE, but since the guy is with Nexus now I think it's best to bite the bullet early and just deal with NNMs failings until the nice stuff is added later.

If you're the guy asking about playing an Elf mage in Morrowind from the last thread, Altmer mages aren't terrible, though Bretons are arguably better. If you want a unique play style Altmer mage with Atronach birthsign is interesting. Dunmer can make a decent hybrid spellblade type caster, but otherwise aren't particularly good mages. Bosmer are awful.

It's roughly the same as in the later games, but thinking out how you build your character is more important to being able to do much of anything in the early game.

I'm currently running with ELFX + Enhancer and Exteriors and True Storms.

I'm assuming you're playing Oldrim and not SSE since you're using SKSE, so get RaceMenu. Go to to the waifu/husbando guide on tesgeneral. Download some of the assets there. Fiddle with sliders.

It's also important to take a break and just play, and look at your character. You'll notice flaws better that way and you won't get fatigued with the sliders and see what isn't there.

Weapons/armor that don't have any quests/scripts attached to them
NPC makeovers (like Bijin)
Not sure about mods that edit meshes, like SMIM and that other high-poly clutter mod.
You can also merge followers.
NEVER EVER merge quests or anything that uses SKSE for that matter
Maybe there's some long workaround in the CK but I wouldn't know.

While you'll be able to appreciate the awesome mods vanilla has right now - pretty much everything of value will eventually be ported to SE and all the mod authors have moved on to making their NEW mods for SE as well.

64 bit gives SE a much higher "ceiling" for mod performance as well so as long as you're in it for the long haul it's the way to go.
