I understand how it works now but it still seems inconsistent to me. There are times where I've had 5 cards and it summonsed a bat anyway (Banishing it) and other times where it didn't do anything, depending on other end of turn effects. And the text of the card only mention 4 cards in play for the self-destruct and face damage, not for the bat summoning. It's not really an issue because it's not like I benefit in any way from the bat banishing, but it's weird to me.

Shadow midrange was never, EVER fucking played competitively, everyone played aggro for the turn 6 two card 11 damage combo from hand. There's a fucking reason Cursed Soldier got nerfed. Shadow was storm Haven, long before storm Haven was even a thing. Only difference is storm Haven's stickiness comes from amulets, while Shadow's came from last word.

I like to think of Midsword as a benchmark. It doesn't have any gimmicks going on and it doesn't create any subgames like the dshift turn counter or the explosive power of Storm. It's just the best deck in the game at playing Shadowverse straight.

I think of it as the deck you every deck's measured against and the rough goal every deck's aiming for in effectiveness whether adjusting upwards or downwards.

Yeah, that's really harsh. I was happy to get one Dragonrider Devil, it's shut down an Elana before, but never drew or needed it. Discarding Mushussus felt rough but I got pretty lucky with the early game curve from 2 drops into things like Ethica and Death Dragon.

In all honesty there's nothing intuitive about her card. There's no reason why a 2 mana 2/2 should prevent everything on her player's field, including her, from taking damage from spells or effects.

It starts to confuse people. They see that DoD works, but not Angelic Barrage. It makes sense if you think about it, but it's also just a really stupid card that shouldn't exist.

It's like how Dragon Warrior prevents anti-evolve cards from triggering their effect. The Turn 4 evolve cards are the most important evolve cards in the game so there's nothing intuitive about a card designed to counter evolve losing to Dragon Warrior, Cudgel, and Wardrobe.

Seriously why do those lose? Why does Cudgel's effect trigger immediately? Why is Turn 4 forced to be the most important turn in the game by the devs? Why couldn't the turn progression have actual balance to it?

Midrange Sword has only one class it doesn't have a positive win rate too. It has the best matchups in the game in terms of positive winrate spread.

And it completely destroys aggro and slow control decks. Sword can trade all day with other aggro decks, but still have a full board in the end of the day and push for lethal.

There are almost no good removal spells in the game to deal with Sword. There is currently no neutral spell that does 2 damage as an AOE. Therefore, you can't deal with any actually used Sword cards except Quickblader

Sword has great cycle too. Everything it does puts a body on the field in a game with terrible aoe removal. Need to remove an enemy follower? You get an ambush'd follower 4/3 alongside it. Need a ward? You get the best one in the game, it comes down early enough to be relevant against aggro, and it can block spells to force them to an evolve on it.

They are one of the few classes that can remove your board? Good thing Otohime is 5 followers for 6 mana, one of which is a 3/4 and a commander. You need immediate damage? Have the best Storm cards in the game.

And so on and so forth. I'm fucking sick of people saying Sword is about fundamentals or isn't overpowered or has nothing too strong but Otohime. I play a lot of Sword and the reason why it is used so much in tournaments and on ladder is because it's extremely strong.

There's just not much counterplay against it. The cycle means it can burst you down almost as quickly as Blood, but not fizzle out nearly as fast. Midrange buff cards mean that you can't leave tokens up ever or they'll all go face for half your health.

And people love to forget about Alwida's command. It's ridiculously strong.

Sword isn't the only T1 class, but it is definitely OP.
