How the FUCK do you get a positive mentality for competitive mode?

There is next to nothing you can do to carry a game, at the very best all you can do is force a stalemate, otherwise it's a fucking gamble on your teammates being competent or at least good enough to not have a shit-fit 10 seconds into the first round.

I played for 6 hours and get 4 draws, 2 wins and 2 losses. All of that for just -12 points.

d.va + winston is currently my favorite combo. it's better than the old duo winston, in my opinion.

there should be some kinds of pickups like health, armor, something that gives you more damage/defense or something that fills your ult meter a bit, in a visible space with little cover and on a timer. something that gives you the advantage, with high risk/high reward. one or two pickups is all i'm asking for.

that way people would not play passively and camp, but actually try to be offensive. it would also make movement prediction of the enemy easier and stop those boring games where you all just run around, searching for each other.

it would also raise the skill cap of 1v1 and 3v3, as you would have to learn the timers and decide if it's worth to try and get a pickup when you're at 50 health.

this is what made unreal tournament and quake duels so interesting. it's like blizzard learned nothing from those games.

why have a game mode where you can win or at least force a draw by camping in a corner for 3 minutes while listening for the enemies footsteps?

I doubt it, I think it's the reason behind the split between Reyes and Morrison. It might be tied to this new global conspiracy thing, and Jack either didn't believe Reyes when Blackwatch dug it up, or Reyes had stronger opinions regarding how to deal with it. Like Chu said, First Strike was going to deal exclusively with the Omnic Crisis because they thought they game would revolve more closely around it, but now the game is set further in the future.

It also makes sense that change would ripple across enough of Fire Strike for it to be completely canned.

hanzo's ult is op since he can shoot it through walls. torbs turret is op, it has almost infinite range and locks on to you immediately. bastion is even worse, his turret mode is op and can snipe you from across the map and melt reinhardt's shield in mere seconds. mei is annoying as fuck and unfun to play against. widow can just bodyshot people from across the map and is op. tracer and genji are unkillable.

Hanzo - fades out at higher levels, his ult is a zoning inconvenience at best, maybe some kills wombo'd with zarya

Torb - kinda has a little comeback with last patch, but again not really an issue at higher levels. Once found, turrets don't last, but they do clean up lower level/skilled players

Bastion - in the hands of a good player he is a death machine. Most aren't though, if you can get a bead on him or he's distracted he goes down quick in turret mode. (Side note on Rein shield - last patch buffed a lot of damage, Rein isn't quite as tanky as he used to be.)

Mei - is annoying af, agreed

Widow - just got a damage boost by way of her charge speed, so she's fotm right now

Tracer - McREE/Winston/Soldier/others can eat her alive. Pro Tracer's are really good at the flow of zipping around and shooting, don't get caught out alone when she's flanking or behind, stay with your group

Genji - some of Tracer's advice applies, with the added caveat of shoot him a little to draw out his deflect, wait, then proceed to stomping

TL;DR - don't be discouraged, most of the cast have hard counters or at least method to mitigate them.

watching timthetatman playing hanzo is pretty great and i don't even think he's one of the best hanzo's.

when will people realize that hanzo on attack is pretty good? all you have to do is practice your aim and learn how to lead your shots. also, get in close to mid range, don't play him as a sniper. he is not a real sniper.

people think you can just spam arrows into chokes. while you may get a few kills that way, you would be a beast if you could aim and get consistent headshots. arguably low skill floor, but also a very high skill ceiling. he is similar to the huntsman sniper in tf2, which was plagued by the same complaints (hurr durr hitboxes too large, just spam and win bro) plus he has 3 great abilities in addition to his m1.

Assuming perfect accuracy, Zen out damages Mcree, theoretically, if they have an orb on them. Zenyatta's biggest problem is people shooting back. His hitbox doesn't change much when spaming ADAD due to his floating, and his hitbox is fairly large and round for a support. Not to mention, for some reason he is one of the characters that get pulled closer than others to Roadhog, ensuring your death against him.

Discord is very strong right now because Soldier can shred people. He will rip through Winston, Roadhog, and Zarya because they have no armor. 260 dmg a second assuming perfect accuracy, which is fairly easy on large targets. 35m damage dropoff, meaning virtually none since most engagements take place around the 20m range.
